I planned to stay 3 or 4 nights in this hostel but finally it was 10 nights in total. I couldn't leave!! And even the last day I wasn't sure if I really could leave here. The place is clean and nice atmosphere.(but yeah, only 2 shower for the all ppl would be a problem in the high season) Easy...

The best thing about the place is the people,I stayed 2 nights and made so many friends, some of whom were the awesome staff. The cooking, drinking, activities, tours, whatever, the staff will help you in anyway they can, in my top 3 favourite places that I stayed in my journey from Puerto Vallarta to Playa deal Carmen! So chilled...

The staff at Iguana were incredibly helpful and attentive to requests (extra blankets for the cool nights? no problem) and provided us with information about local events going on and suggestions of places to visit. As with any other backpacker hostel, make sure to bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper as many guests here tend toward the nightlife...

Very friendly and relaxed vibe at this backpacker central hostel. Great central location with lovely staff, happy to offer help and book tours and transport for you. Shared bathroom could have been a bit cleaner but bedroom was a good size with storage facilities. Staff happy to cook and share their breakfast / lunches with guests. Great place for meeting...

My boyfriend and I stayed there a few nights and we were more than happy! They cook breakfast for the travelers and it's delicious! The upstairs kitchen has a common area you can sit and chat with people from all over the world. There are hammocks to relax, the bathrooms were clean. The hostel manager hosts day excursion. He took...

You know a place is good when you end up staying longer than you intended and Iguana was the one place in Mexico that I did that. The personally cooked food, and friendly advice offered by everyone working there really made life fun, and the friends I made and the atmosphere really made this one of my favourite places to...

I spent a great moment in this hostel and even if nights are sometimes cold, be sure that the staff and good atmosphere will warm you. Countryside is beautiful, don't hesitate to visit lovely zapatistas villages or going to submidero canyon!

A fireplace to conglomerate and get to know each others with other guests 2-The rooms are cool 3-Last but not least, the "staff" is just fabulous, really...

Best thing about iguana is the staff. Very friendly and extremely helpful. Some good tours to nearby villages are very interesting and affordable. Nice different breakfast each day along with coffee and tea. Rooms are tidy if not a bit cramped at times. Lovely outdoor patio with hammocks. Could do with some Bathmats though! The floor in the bathrooms got...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Four years since opening, IGUANA HOSTEL is well known among backpackers for its family, chilled out and fun atmosphere. People come to the Iguana for two nights and they stay for two weeks... This is because Iguana Hostel can host only up to 27 people, so it's easy to make friends to share fun with, and we will always take good care of you. Our main asset is our staff: travellers on the road, who love making friends, and speak your language. The IGUANA HOSTEL is situated in a historic Barrio del Cerrillo, with a panoramic view from the terrace. The hostel is located near Santo Domingo a church surrounded and a colourful handcraft market, 2 blocks from the public market and only 7 minutes walk from the very heart of the city: la Catedral and el Parque Central. ... more   less
