I stayed at Casa Arnel 2 years in a row for my winter holiday to visit my sister in Oaxaca. The stays were back in 2011/2012, but it was such a great place that I still wanted to make some notes figuring the most exciting things to me hadn't changed :) The only complaint I had was that the door...

Think of Casa Arnel as more of a bed and breakfast. It is a home, with many rooms that you can rent at all different levels. If you want a room with a bath? They've got it. A single room, but a shared bath? They've got that. Three beds in two rooms? They've got that too. The rooms are not...

I have stayed at Casa Arnel several times in the past few years as I like the location - it is fairly peaceful and I love the birds! - but the prices are confusing, different on several booking sites. I paid online for 2 nights, then, when I unexpectedly needed to stay another night, I was charged MORE in person...

Positive: The standard double room (private bathroom) is spacious and nicely decorated, room is clean. The atrium is like a tropical forest, very cozy. Minus: The hotel's front door is locked (guests don't have keys) and the hotel staff's not always attentive, you can risk waiting at the front door for few minutes. The location is fine but not great...

I stayed here for four nights on my first trip to Oaxaca. A nice 10 minute walk past several small parks and you reach the cities main square and market area. So well located. Safe and secure accommodation. Helpful staff and attached restaurant. Several tours and laundry can be arranged here. The WiFi was free. The room had a very...

A family-run business that is very welcoming and has a lot of repeat visitors. The central court yard is very pretty, with lots of vegetation and birds. The rooms are functional and clean. The breakfasts are excellent value and quality. Although the wifi is not very good in the hotel, the neighbouring coffee shops have great wifi and superb coffee...especially...

I can confirm the general descriptions by other users, nice location, in walking distance to the city center, nice tropical garden and also very kind and attentive staff. However, I was somewhat disappointed about the condition of the shared bathrooms. Yes, at time of booking I was aware that shared bathrooms always have some potential for surprise. However, every hotel...

The rooftop patio is a lovely spot to gather. There are even some hammocks to read or nap in. There is a large English library to borrow or trade books. The rooms were small, and the bathroom floor very slick when wet. There was no screen for the bathroom window, and the screen only came to within one inch of...

Casa Arnel has very small inexpensive rooms with shared bath and I assume nicer private rooms. It is in the Jalatlaco colonia of Oaxaca, a nice colonia near the centro section of town, about a 15-20 minute walk from the Zocalo. No one showed me around the place so I did not realize that there was a rooftop terrace until...

Not a bad hotel, rooms are basic bit clean. Is a long walk to the Zocola and the centre of town. All extras are charged, we broke a cup and were looking for 150 pesos to replace it. Eventually we paid 45 pesos but it left a bad taste about the entire hotel.
