When booking my flight to Oaxaca, Mexico this hotel was recommended to me as part of the package. I went without really knowing anything about it. It is a restored nunnery dating 400 years so you can probably well appreciate the historic architecture at the site, all meticulously recovered, restored and maintained. The grounds are simply impeccable demonstrating every attention...

The Quinta Real, formerly Camino Real, is in an ex-convent (Santa Catalina de Sienna) in the heat of Oaxaca. It is an elegant property with lovely pool, historic rooms, and restrained atmosphere. It is also expensive. What you do not get is staff with English-language proficiency. We had called ahead for tickets to a folk dance review that had been...

This beautiful, historic building is a comfortable retreat in Oaxaca. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, there is good wireless in the room or public areas, and the grounds are pleasant. Very comfortable beds and very nice bathrooms. Service in the restaurant and bar is unhurried, to say the least, but the limited menus are good. The hotel hosts various...

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed in all my travels. It is an old and very charming property which is perfect for a romantic couples holiday. It is also very well located in the heart of the city of Oaxaca and hence it is within walking distance from a lot of the attractions, bars and...

My wife and I stayed here in late January. The hotel is beautiful, very well maintained, worth taking a walk around it even if you aren't staying there. But I thought the service was indifferent at best. Checking in, we were advised that internet was extra at about $10/day. I think that is ludicrous but OK, it is still a...

We stayed during easter at the QUinta Real Oaxaca, which is located in an old Spanish Convent, THe building is very well mantained in general with pretty central gardens. The bathrooms need an upgrade, The best thing is the central location that permits you to walk to most things downtown. THe breakfast buffet is good. THe only incident we had...

Stayed for 4 nights over Easter. Great position and the courtyards and buildings very atmospheric. The owners need to visit other restored heritage properties around the world to see what others provide for this price. It is generally a bit run down and tired. Service very patchy. Paid extra for an internally facing room as we were told the external...

We stayed here for five nights in March. Identified as the second convent in New Spain, built in the 16th century, the hotel served as a school, movie theater and prison before being renovated for tourism in the 1970s. The building deserves its reputation for being beautiful, and the landscaping is fantastic. Our room was rather small, but perfectly pleasant,...

This is a very well maintained colonial religous building in a very centric site. Actually most attractions in Oaxaca are well within walking distance. The only bad thing is that if you want WiFi in your room you have to pay for it! Hotel managers should get by now the idea that free Wi Fi is pretty much a necessesity...

We were big fans of this property before this last visit and not sure we'll return next time since there are more options. Our room was average and quiet, next to a beautiful courtyard. We could not believe when we say them set up for a banquet on the lawn RIGHT outside of all the rooms in that corridor. The...
