Beautiful grounds and charmingly decorated rooms make this hotel a bargain. It is truly a great spot for the traveler who may feel overwhelmed by the intensity of Mexico City. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They were able to answer any questions regarding directions, restaurant recommendations, or finding business services in the neighborhood. They were also able to...

Convenient, clean, inexpensive, great breakfast, helpful staff with insight into travelers problems. Only negative - our bed was way too hard, and I kinda like a stiff mattress. Good experience, I would definitely stay here again.

The quiet tranquility of Casa Gonzalez after a busy, fascinating day of touring through Mexico City was greatly appreciated. The gardens, the sitting areas, the dining room and the top patio areas are lovely. The room was pleasant and my room had a wonderful bathtub. Having been deprived of a bath(as opposed to a shower) for so long this was...

Thank you for your kind review. Very sorry, we will not be putting in a pool any time soon (we have no space). But the Sheraton a couple of blocks away has a pool you can use on your next visit.

Most important to me was the SAFETY of the area. We walked around at all hours, and since it's by the embassies and a great area with lots of restaurants and bars. I loved it~ My grandparents used to stay here back in the 1940s. however, if you have allergies, I recommend NOT STAYING in the main, older part of...

Friendly, helpful staff in a safe location which is fairly central. The rooms (we had 2 as stayed at the beginning and end of holiday) are basic but comfortable enough. (But then it is cheap!) The first was a little noisy as it overlooked the road. Best to have a room overlooking the courtyard. The garden/courtyard area is pleasant and...

My husband and I first stayed at Casa Gonzales in 2004. We have stayed in other districts depending on what we are doing in Mexico City, but if you want to stay in a good central location, Casa Gonzales is it! The breakfast is now offered as a choice, plus there is a menu. The dining room is lovely and...

Recently I stayed Casa Gonzalez fro 15 nights. Originally I had planned to stay seven nights. After being in Mexico City for three days I decided to extend my stay. I had to move three times. I found all the rooms to be very comfortable. I especially enjoyed breakfast at the hotel. It was a good opportunity to meet other...

This is a lovely property which offers an exceptional value and a long and well-established history. The welcome at reception was outstanding and the whole property sparkles with tidiness and hospitality. The dining room is lovely - feels like home and the menu and food quality, although limited is first rate. I would rate the hotel a full 5* but...

My wife and I stayed for five nights at the Casa Gonzalez. For non Spanish speakers visiting the DF for the first time, it was important for us to have a place where people understood us. The front line staff at the Casa Gonzalez speak English, but beyond that, they go out of their way to be of service. Their...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The most important is that we want to make this your home away from home, at an accessible price.Casa Gonzalez is four old homes surrounded by courtyards and gardens of different eras that have been adapted to make a home for travelers. The two original homes were built by the current owners grandfather in the mid 1920's.One of the houses belonged to a famous movie star, Lupe Velez (who married Johnny Weissmuller for a few years). The latest addition was built in the early 1940's by a relatively well know architect, Roberto Buenrostro, as his private residence. The guest house started operating in the early 30's by the grandmother and great grandmother of the current owners. ... more   less
