This is the second time I stayed at this still very charming little hotel together with another couple. Here are the positives: The location is fabulous - close to Paseo de la Reforma, lots of good restaurants in walking distance just around the corner on Calle Rio Lerma, a 5 minute walk to the Metro Insurgentes, walking distance to Chapultepec,...

I assume because the hotel won a trip advisory award, it gets booked quickly. I showed up with no reservation on a friday and only a more expensive room was available. The situation of the hotel is very nice. Beautiful garden, friendly and helpful staff and it is indeed a haven of tranquility. All thou the rooms are quite small...

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you did not like our smaller room (about $30.00 USD plus tax per night), we will put greater care so these rooms are in better condition. I do want to point out that the room was painted this month and has new curtains. The small room you had was added by my...

Stayed here the first time I visited Mexico City. Positives: Great staff, helpful, friendly and willing to pretend I could speak Spanish. Location was quiet. Negatives: A very long schlepp from the Metro after a day of sightseeing. The entire place was not just tired but in dire need of fresh paint and a new cleaning staff. Transom over door...

We would give it 5.5 stars if we could. I've traveled throughout Latin America over many years and this one of the best places I've ever stayed. It is not super elegant, nor a "factory" hotel like so many. This hotel is made from several homes that have been combined into one extremely comfortable stay. We rented 3 rooms on...

Casa Gonzalez was a most pleasant surprise. The location of the hotel, one and a half blocks behind the American Embassy and the same distance from Paseo de la Reforma, is outstanding. Upon entering the hotel you see a spacious courtyard with well kept gardens and seating areas. The rooms are simple but clean and bright with plenty of lighting...

Great location, helpful staff, we stayed there because in what was said on Trip Advisor, as we do not speak spanish, nice set up, breakfast was good, only problem we had was I emailed from LA to say our flight had been delayed, so instead of getting there at 1am we did not get there till 6am, where the room...

Thank you for your kind review. I do want to apologize for the fact you had to change rooms so many times, this should not have happened.

The buildings and gardens are lovely and the staff uniformly helpful. The location is excellent, being two blocks from the Reforma and 5 blocks from Insurgentes subway station. The rooms are comfortable, however, the beds are quite firm bordering on hard. Breakfast, while not included, is reasonable and good.

We couldn't be happier with our stay at Hotel Casa Gonzales where we appreciated the great location, excellent staff and service. We walked to many of the Mexico City highlights from this hotel. Our room was very large and comfortable and the breakfast each morning superb. Our only small comment would be that the bathroom was a little dated, but...

This is a beautiful hotel with very helpful staff. It has a very relaxing atmosphere and good food. The hotel is located within walking distance from many of the places we wanted to visit and the subway. It has very good value for the rates.

The most important is that we want to make this your home away from home, at an accessible price.Casa Gonzalez is four old homes surrounded by courtyards and gardens of different eras that have been adapted to make a home for travelers. The two original homes were built by the current owners grandfather in the mid 1920's.One of the houses belonged to a famous movie star, Lupe Velez (who married Johnny Weissmuller for a few years). The latest addition was built in the early 1940's by a relatively well know architect, Roberto Buenrostro, as his private residence. The guest house started operating in the early 30's by the grandmother and great grandmother of the current owners. ... more   less
