Gran Hotel Ciudad De Mexico garners high praise for its excellent value, combining quality service and amenities with reasonable pricing. The hotel's spotless condition and attentive housekeeping receive consistent commendation from guests, as does the professional and warm service contributing to memorable experiences. The spacious rooms with stunning views are often highlighted, alongside the prime Zocalo location ideal for city exploration.
While the lively atmosphere and historic charm are beloved, some guests note potential noise issues. The rooftop restaurant and praised breakfast buffet are among the standout amenities.

This hotel is luxurious! From the moment we walked in the front doors, we were well taken care of by the staff. The rooms are huge and well appointed, the architecture is incomparable, and the service is outstanding. Our only complaint is that the beds are super firm, but that seems to be the trend throughout Mexican hotels. I 100% recommend this hotel.

From the moment you step inside the front door, you are in old world Mexico City leaving behind the city noise, smells and grit. It's as lovely as described (and the photos don't do it justice) and centrally located perfect for the first time visitor's itinerary. Our daughters had a beautiful room with 2 double beds with an interior view and it was quiet. My husband and I had a king bed room overlooking 16 de Septiembre and our only complaint was street music from the organ grinder below. So maybe request a higher floor. They provide lots of free bottled water which was a nice touch. Our last night we had margaritas on the rooftop terrace overlooking the Zocolo and it is now a cherished memory. Don't miss it!

This was a lovely place for our first three nights in Mexico City. Junior suite overlooking the Zocalo was beautiful and quiet thanks to insulated windows. Breakfast was absolutely sumptuous and well worth the additional cost so that we didn't have to hunt around for breakfast. Well-equipped hotel gym. Staff (Enrique, Salvador, Manuel, Cynthia) and doormen went out of their way to accommodate us. This is a traditional, comfortable, first-class hotel that is a short walk across the Zocalo from the metro, so it's a good jumping off point for visiting historical attractions during the day. After our stay at the Gran Ciudad, we chose to stay near the Zona Rosa for more night life during our last three nights in Mexico City and, although that turned out to be fun, that part of town was also super noisy and congested. Definitely would return to the Gran Ciudad.

I first saw this hotel in the Prime show "The Romanoffs" and it intrigued me. In May 2019, I arrived from Honolulu by myself to Mexico City at midnight and had prearranged for a hotel driver to pick me up. It was a long travel day from Hawaii and I would recommend a driver it was so convienet and it was not expensive. I recall paying the driver $49 US.
The hotel staff we waiting to greet me and offered me champagne. When I awoke the next morning, I was so amazed by the three frescos of stain glass that are one of the signatures of the hotel ceiling. Created by a student of the Tiffany School, the domes filter light into the lobby and are a beautiful, unique art nouveau piece. People from other hotels come just to see the stain glass.
I would recommend to enjoy the view from the hotel restaurant and bar - La Terrazzo. The drinks are food are excellent and you can enjoy the best sights in the historic (Zocalo) district. Cesar at the restaurant was terrific, as a solo diner they were so welcoming to me.
My room was basic, very clean and the bed was comfortable. In fact my friend joined me the next day from Atlanta and we had enough room for the two of us.
Again the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Jose, Enrique, Cynthia and Manlana were amazing. They were so welcoming and even helped to arrange a driver for us to San Miguel de Allende. I would stay here again and recommend to others. The location was great to walk around durring the day and close to other restaurants like Balcon del Zocalo.

This is a very handsome hotel with excellent service. The staff were very helpful and my room (#315) was large and comfortable with a balcony and a view of a side street.
Breakfast was very tasty, with lots of choices, and was served in the attractive roof-top café with a beautiful view of the Zocalo. Also, I dined in the roof-top café one night and the meal was excellent.
The location of the hotel was convenient and good for walking.
I visited during the corona virus pandemic and I felt very safe and was impressed by the safety and sanitary precautions which were much in advance of what I have seen in the USA.
I stayed for ten days and was very happy with the Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico. I plan to stay again the next time I am in Mexico City.

Stayed at this hotel 3 nights. Beautiful! Art decor from the 1920 with stained glass ceilings is worth the price. Large room, #220 beautiful furniture, super clean. Amenities included a baggie with hand sanitizer and a mask, soap and shampoo. Awesome views ofZocalo from terrace restaurant. Had dinner one night, great customer service, food was good, a bit pricey but the experience was worth it.
We arrive at night. UBER driver could not find locatio. The street on front entrance is blocked, so we called front desk. They told driver to go around the hotel and enter through a parking garage. It was so scary, we couldn't help but think of the movie SAW while we entered the low ceiling and went further in guided by an attendant to a rear entance where we had to knock in order to go inside by and attendant who had had to carry our bags up the stairs to the reception lobby area, there were lots of bags! While we were checking in, he opened a champagne bottle for us which I believe is part of the experience. Our shower needed to be resealed somewhere as there was a leak that accumulated by the toilet area behind the shower wall. The front entrance is very nice with an attendant in uniform greeting people. Loved it here. Will return

We stayed 3 nights in April 2021 toward the tail end of the pandemic and what a treat it was! The location is superb. It's right at the Zocolo and in the heart of the Historic Center. You can't get much better than this hotel as far as location goes. As you've probably seen in the pictures, the property is beautiful and elegant. The staff was very friendly and it was reassuring to see familiar faces (doormen) on our way in and out of the hotel every day.
I'm a movie location nerd and I figured out this hotel was featured in Spectre, Frida (as a Parisian nightclub) as well as an 80s Bond film I haven't seen yet.
Aside from breakfast for two of the mornings, we didn't really eat or drink at the hotel because there was so much to do in the surrounding areas. Most noteworthy sites were within walking distance or a short uber (we actually took those bicycle carriages parked outside of the hotel to the Garibaldi for the equivalent of $10 USD each way. I think a cab home was the same price. Oh, and there's a coffee shop next to Krispy Kreme on the property (outside) that serves excellent coffee.
I'd really like to visit again (this hotel and Mexico City in general) when everything's back to normal just to see what it's like when everything is booming and open. However, I was still very impressed with what I saw during covid restrictions. We felt safe in the area (as safe as any major American city at least).
TIP: Check out the raising/lowering of the Mexican flag right outside the hotel. I believe they raise it around 8am and lower it at 6pm. What a spectacle!

They met me at the door, took my bags and introduced themselves (door man and various others) as they handed me a glass of champagne and welcomed me to the hotel. A quick tour and a ride in an historic birdcage of an elevator followed. My room was well appointed, large and quiet. A couple of hours later, a complimentary plate of a few treats with my name written in chocolate arrived. I certainly enjoyed my stay.

The Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico is absolutely gorgeous with it's Art Nouveau interiors, Tiffany stained glass ceilings, and overall elegance! All of the staff were very helpful and friendly, with a special nod to Enrique at the Front Desk and Victor at the Front Door, they were wonderful! Our room was spacious, always clean w lots of closet space, comfortable beds (we had 2 doubles), a big bathroom with plenty of hot water and great water pressure in the shower. We could access our Amazon Prime video through the tv to watch our favorite movies in English. The Terrazza restaurant was lovely, excellent views of Zocalo Plaza, delish food & drinks, very friendly staff. We also had some of the excellent desserts and coffee drinks from Room Service in the evenings. The location is fantastic, the National Palace and Metropolitan Cathedral are right across the Plaza from hotel, and Templo Mayor is barley a block behind the Cathedral. Palacio Bellas Artes is an easy 10 minute walk. Easy location to get a taxi, call an Uber, or use the metro from the Zocalo station. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again!

We stayed 5 nights with our 9-year-old. We love this hotel. It is a safe, walkable location, the building is gorgeous, the rooms are comfortable, and the service is friendly. Our room faced the side street, but in the evening opera singers and violin players would sing in the street below our window. The restaurant has beautiful views and pretty decent food. Very good drinks and dessert. A full hot breakfast was included. The selection is huge— Pan Dulce, egg dishes, cereals, waffles, tacos, tamales, fruits, etc. The staff make an effort to learn how you like your coffee and to chat about your plans. COVID protocols were strict, which we appreciated. The front desk staff were happy to call a safe cab for you to go out and enjoy the city. They have affordable tours you can sign up for as well (though we had already books ours). There were bottles of water and green apples in the hallways, and a Nespresso machine in the room. The streets around the hotel are full of restaurants and higher end stores. It’s an easy walk to Alameda, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Torre Latino, and Museo Mural Diego Rivera. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else.

Sorry cannot answer this. Great hotel you’ll enjoy it !
I think all the rooms have outside views, just not all have a view of the Zocalo. All the rooms seemed to open to the center of the Hotel(which is beautiful!) as you can see in the pictures.
