Clean no frills accomodation. Nice inner courtyard. Rooms are dated but have some charm. Included breakfast is good. Try to get a top floor room as noise from guests above can be easily heard. Good front desk service.

The Socavon hotel is in a great location, within walking distance, perhaps 15 minutes, of centro. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We had a room with two double beds, facing a nice courtyard filled with lots of plants. Very nice pillows! From the outside it doesn't look especially welcoming, but once inside, it's nice. The rooms tend to be...

This stay was a great value near the museum/landmark of Alhondigas de la Granitas, the site of the first major victory of the Insurgentes under Hidalgo (and where his head later hung for over a decade). My only complaints were that the room was warm/no ventilation even though the ceiling fan was going---I had to leave the windows open but...

This hotel doesn't look like much from the street, but once you get inside it's much better. The rooms are basic, but clean. The first night of our stay, we were in a room facing the street. There was alot of street noise and the internet didn't work from it. We asked to move to a quieter room for our...

Four hours away from Mexico City Guanajuato is easily one of Mexico's most beautiful towns with a great nightlife. The hotel boasts a very beautiful although unused courtyard. The rooms are nice, clean, simple and spacious enough. The hotel is cheap and you get a lot of value for your money. Although you can choose between many breakfast options food...

The Socavon is definitely not a four of five star hotel. However, if you're looking for a good inexpensive hotel in Guanajuato, this is a great option. The place is clean. It has charm. It had a good internet connection (I was able to use video skype with no problems). A full breakfast was included. I'd definitely stay here again....

Rooms are simple and clean. Beautiful little interior courtyard with mining equipment depicting Guanajuato's roots as a silver mine city. All the rooms look out onto this. We had 3rd floor room in the corner that was decorated with self portraits of artist Frida Kahlo. Looked out over courtyard and you could hear the doves roosting in the eaves. No...

We selected this hotel for the parking... - rooms very clean, bathroom a bit old but very clean too. - hot shower - comfortable bed - breakfast included (good) - parking free - friendly and helpful staff looks ordinary from the street but it is pretty, nice inside courtyard a bit far from the main areas (Jardin Union, Theatre Juarez)...

We heard about this hotel from a local Guanajuato resident. My wife and I, along with our two boys, stayed in it -- initially selecting it for the value. Children under a certain age are free, parking is free, and breakfast was included, and the price was still way less than many others. It looks unimpressive from the street --...

It is a quiet place but it was kind of far from the main areas. The food in the restaurant is good though. My hubby and I paid for a room with breakfast and we noticed that the prices are the same or lower if we would had just purchaced the room without the breakfast. What really dissapointed us was...

“Definitely choose a room on the courtyard. It's quieter. Beware that this is Mexico and almost all buildings are concrete or brick so noise travels.”

“I got an inside courtyard room on 2nd floor, but if it's during warm months, check out the ventilation--can windows be opened in a way that gives cross ventilation. I noticed some rooms had different window configurations. Also, is ceiling fan on the highest level. If not, they have to send someone to set it.”
