This was our first time at the Dickinson Guest House. My family and I were on a trip to different cities in Mexico and were coming from some time on the beach. Even though our bus came in very late. Leo and James were there to greet us and take us to our rooms. James had some sandwiches out on...

I was here on business this visit. My visit a year or so ago was for the Mariachi Festival with my family. We had such a great time that I came back and chose to stay here instead of so many new hotels in this area. James has great business amenities that make it easier to have fast internet that...

I stayed in many 5 star hotels all over the world. I picked this guest house because I needed to get my passport at the Canadian visa center which is two blocks away. James prepared me a super delicious home made breakfast (the way I like) on my early arrival. He even took my dog for a walk while I...

We are not much for the "party scene" on NYE, but since we were on holiday this year we indulged in some local festivities! We traveled with another couple to Guadalajara,Mexico to spend a bit of time with their relatives. We found a house that looked like it was perfect for our needs at a reasonable price. The Dickinson Guest...

James is a very pleasant owner and we enjoyed his help with our exploring. Room was very nice and clean. My only complaint is that the main area of the house needs to be cleaned, not quite up to expectations for a 5 star BB. Also quite a distance from Centro and airport.

Hello G.G. Thank you for taking the time to write a kind review. A lot of people who enjoy their stay often just get busy and forget. I am a bit embarrassed that I cannot find you as a guest last February, by any name or location on Trip Advisor. I am guessing that you may have been in a...

I just received a letter for trip Advisor for a past trip I took to Guadalajara, with my Mexican husband. I have family in Guadalajara that do not have a very large home. The owner james and his friends and staff made for an excellent experience! We arrived from all over Mexico to be with our parents who live in...

Thank you M. for the kind words. I am discovering that larger groups of travelers tend to enjoy the full house stay with or without maid service. I respect your wishes for privacy and am happy you chose to have a little help. I very much appreciate keeping everything tidy. It seems the bed configuration worked well for you. Maybe...

I took my family to the Mariachi festival in Guadalajara, Mexico this year. It has been a few years since I had gone by myself or with friends. I do have family in this city, but there was not enough room for the 5 of us. I found this house to be perfect for our needs. My wife and I...

We thank you for your review and are happy that you enjoyed your stay. Your kids are great with the different dogs that are in our two parks, and I think they enjoyed the diversion from the exciting, yet busy central core. It was a good festival this year even with the rain that we had. It's finally over and...

After looking at our itinerary for the annual jazz festival in Guadalajara, Mexico this year, my husband reminded me that our friends had asked ME if I would see if our booked hotel had rooms left for them so we could stay together. We usually go together, but there was a glitch with scheduling and it was not until pretty...

I had another wonderful experience here in June of this year. I had stayed here before for a family wedding but did not have the address. My daughter who made the first reservation sent me the information. It is long overdue, but I felt that it was important to let travelers know what a friendly environment they will be missing...

Tina, It was great to see you back sooner than expected. It always makes for a much easier settle in if you know your way around as you know. And I did see that you knew where to get just about anything you needed. Another thing I meant to mention was tipping the maid. Although she is paid well, it...

As your rental was for all four + bedrooms, I will just say thank you for your kind assessment of the property. It is a B&B first, but if people want the whole house, it makes for a great short vacation for me as well. Thank everyone for choosing my home for your stay here. And even though this is...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Dickinson Guest House , within walking distance to the Guadalajara Expo Center is a cost effective hotel-alternative to the many new luxury hotels that abound in this well maintained area of the city. We are available as a whole house rental, which is popular for those coming from the North during the winter months-or we rent rooms out to corporate or business travelers that need to be close to the Exposition center and this business hub of the city. This large home in the Chapalita neighborhood of the city is well know by locals. It is not to be confused with Lake Chapala, another destination of about an hours' drive away. We also have a shortcut to the very enjoyable towns of Tlaquepaque and Tonala, home of many artisan shops that are just beyond the historical district, a short ride away. Our business services for the traveler that needs fast internet service will be surprised to experience speeds that are actually superior to even the finest hotels in this pricey area of Guadalajara. The fully equipped kitchen will be a place for those who enjoy cooking for a group or for themselves. It is also has plenty of storage space for beverages and snack foods for those who prefer eating out at the many great restaurants that surround us. Come and feel the difference of the personal touches and amenities offered, while enjoying your privacy that is very much part of your wanting a private home. There are several spaces in this large property to enjoy with your friends or colleagues while still enjoying your private bedroom. Now that the business meetings and conventions are closeby, this home has become a popular alternative for 6-8 single guests or 4-5 couples on a stop-over visit to other Western cities in Mexico. If you are travelling as a group, why pay the high prices of separate hotel rooms when you can have a private room in a house and still be with colleagues or family? If you are looking for a week-end in the city-coming from Puerto Vallarta, bring some friends and take advantage of all the space to enjoy while at home! An excellent choice to stay in Mexico's 2nd city, for 10 years now-and counting! ... more   less
