Hotel's Favourite
First time in a RIU Hotel and exceeded expectations. Bed is comfortable, bedroom is soundproof, great views of the city and a varied breakfast buffet.
Only downside is water pressure in the shower: we stayed on the 10th floor and it was very weak.

We stayed here for a long weekend and would stay again. We were very happy with our room (it's big!), and had the breakfast buffet which was everything you would want. Very pleased with that.
The bulk of our time was spent by the pool. The servers are very nice but there are entirely too few which made service slow and inattentive. The good side is that the drinks and food are reasonably priced and they are good. The bad side is you won't get offered drinks very often, and they never come back to clean up empty cups or bottles.
The ultimate frustration was sitting there on a busy Saturday afternoon and seeing 4 guys in suits just standing there doing nothing, 2 servers running around crazy, and a few other people in hotel uniforms doing nothing too. There were a lot of people at the pool, lots of drunk people IN the pool, screaming kids, and trash blowing around the pool deck because nobody would clean up anything.
Each day we witnessed people SO DRUNK they looked like they were going to drown. I told the waiter, who told a security guy, about a man barely conscious in the pool. After my chat w/ the waiter, a woman told me she and her sister had also said something and they did nothing. Then, we watched the security guy come over to the super drunk guy, say something, and then leave him there. The drunk guy was bobbing below the water a lot and looked as if he would just never resurface and drown.
The next day there was a separate incident with someone super drunk in the pool who (get this) needed 2 security people and his friend to GET HIM OUT OF THE POOL, and then put him in a wheelchair to get him out of there. That's how bad it was.
The pool also has a ton of kids on Saturday that love to scream and cry with parents totally ignoring it. This is nothing the hotel staff can do anything about, but just beware that you can expect kids here.
The hotel is nice, the pool is nice and again I would stay here. Just understand that the pool can be a total zoo. You can expect to go to the bar to get your drinks and also take your own empties away.
There are too many positives that outweigh the pool drama, but just know what you are in for if you stay there.

I have mixed feelings for this hotel. Before my stay, I called them to ask if there were vegan options in the breakfast buffet. The person who took my call said there were no options, and it was a buffet so guests shouldn’t expect personal service. She was rude so I filed a complain, and the manager wrote me explaining they do have a special vegan area in their buffet and can also prepare more options if needed. When we arrived service was amazing, super gentle employees. When we arrived the next day for breakfast, the hostess followed me to explain where vegan options where and list several other options the chef offered to prepare. They were so nice to me! And the food is amazing. In the evening we called room service for ordering dinner. The person who answered the phone said they’d call back to send the menu, but never did. We ended up calling Uber eats. Then we took the blanket because it was a bit cold, and there was a chunk of hair - disgusting!!!. We called room service again and all the person said was “well send a new blanket “. No apologies whatsoever. In the next day they were super nice at the restaurant again and offered a vegan risotto the chef created, I’m still stunned by its flavor, loved it. The pool area is very beautiful and service is great - despite the presence of weird bugs. So I can say cleanness is not good, but face to face service is great and the restaurant is amazing both in quality and service

The honey room presidential suite didn't have the sparkling beverage, glasses for a toast or the strawberries and chocolate that we were charged for. The hotel didn't offer any meals or room service and the was nothing to drink or eat in the main fridge. Very strange and unwelcoming room layout and not personalized note or congratulations. The check in and reception experience was nothing above sub-par and when my concerns were brought to a managers attention I was told to go pound sand. Great way to terminate a commercial relationship with my family by refusing to make things right.

Beware if you book through a 3rd party like Hotels.com. You think you're getting a deal but when you arrive they tell you, you booked a room on their 1st floor. Which is NOT on the description of the advertisement. To upgrade, it's NOT like a HIlton, they charge like $60 a day to take you to a higher floor, so STUPID. The guy who checked us in didn't inform us of the Lounge access. It would have been nice to take advantage of the free drinks and snacks. On our last day, during breakfast before check out, the lady from the restaurant informed us. I asked to speak to the General Manager to see if he could provide some type of credit but of course, their strategy to not give you a credit so they don't lose commission was for the employee to tell me he was not available. Next Time we'll stay at the Hilton!

Dear Jessica, We always kindly recommend to leave the full name on feedbacks, so the company you are referring to can do the proper follow up of what you are stating and assist you when applicable. Also, please note that our hotel has a capacity of more than 1,100 guests, unfortunately, the management was indeed not available, however, our front desk staff is always available to assist our guests. It is disappointing to read that despite our best efforts, we could not fulfil your wishes. When reservations have been arranged by a third company, it is the guest’s booking channel who is in charge of the reservation. Regrettably, we cannot reply on their behalf. We kindly recommend you to get in touch with your booking channel, in order to inform them about your discomfort. Sincerely, Hotel Riu Plaza Guadalajara Online Reputation Manager

Hello, Thank you for sending me this request for review. I would like to let you know that the first room I had for my stay was not good. I heard the person in my adjoining room snoring and they kept trying to open my door that connected our room. I did not feel safe. I think the room number was 519.
I was moved on the 3rd night to room 1912, in the corner and loved the room. I would love to always have a nice quiet room when I stay with you.
Thank you,
Christina

I stayed here on a business trip in January this year. It was a great experience. The Hotel is located perfectly in a safe district, minutes away from bars and restaurants and a short drive from most of the tech companies I worked with. The rooms are great. Clean and spacious, good beds, quiet AC, dark curtains. - Staff was outstanding - The view over the city at sunrise was astonishing. There is a little shop in the lobby for urgent needs and cravings. The Bar and Restaurant have been a good alternative for eating out. I was super happy with the room service too. But the best is that they have the most amazing Breakfast buffet you can imagine. - I will definitively stay here again.

Great value for money. Very big rooms. Great bathrooms. Fantastic breakfast. Amazing tomato soup (room service).
To improve: I do not like the noisy music in the lobby (terrible and disgusting), the carpet in the floor should be changed in the rooms for an hygienic floor).

>they made my bed then took the bed cover with them. i had to hunt down housekeeping to ask for them to bring it back
>housekeeping turned off my A/C without asking me. When i arrived in my room it was hot
>key in the elevator does not work well. Had to go to front desk to get it re-scanned

Maintenance came fixed light and also took away the room key that kept power in my room so i had to go all the way downstairs again to ask for another room key
>the shower had uneven water temp. You'll be having a shower when all of a sudden it gets scorching hot.
>the food is greasy, oily food and the oatmeal is drowning in water.
Needless to say, i will not be staying here again.

I used Uber throughout my stay in Guadalajara. At the airport I always take a cab. They have a booth you just walk up to and ask for a taxi to your destination. When you pay, the tip is already included ( I gave my driver an extra $20.00 pesos because he was excellent). They will give you a ticket that you will need to show to the driver. When you exit the airport, they will show you where to stand in line to take the taxi. The people there are very helpful. Taxi was safe, clean.
Hello, no, I had a 7am arrival and even after asking to check in sooner than 3pm even if there was an additional fee they did not allow us. They said we could have our luggage held on to in the luggage room. We had two small children with us and that didn’t matter either. They were very strict with their check in policy.
