Stayed three nights here. The location is great-right on the edge of the historical centre and yet very quiet. It was about a 15 minute walk from the bus station (where we had arrived from the airport). There are restaurants all around as well as OXXO and 7/11 shops.
The view from the roof top terrace across to the square is lovely. Although the bar was not open, we brought our own drinks and food up here. We had breakfast on one morning (25% discount deal) and it was quite formal in the restaurant downstairs but there was a great selection of food.
The hotel is an old building and very pleasing to look at with internal courtyards but have to say, our room was very dark and you needed to have the curtains closed in the bedroom/bathroom for privacy. The rooms are spacious however and the a/c was excellent as was the comfort of the bed. The WiFi was frustrating and slow.
We found most of the staff very friendly apart from a couple of staff at reception when we arrived who perhaps need better training with people skills.
Would we stay again? Not sure as the darkness of the bedroom did get us down.

This hotel has great location in the center of Guadalajara. The rooms are clean, bed very comfortable. The bathroom distribution is really good. The A.C is good. At night in the lobby someone plays the piano with romantic music, which it gives a pleasant atmospheria to the place. They do not offer breakfast but it seems they have business connection with a restaurant (you do not need to go outside the building) where you can order a buffet breakfast very good and very reasonable cost.
The only drawback is the building's walls seem to be very thin, you can hear people walking on hallway *do not get a room on first floor. They rates are very good. The housekeeping staff really nice ladies!! The roof is quite nice and a good place to chill out.

Good location within short walking distance to the sights in Centro Historico, round the corner from subway station that takes you to Guadalajara's bus terminal and best of all, right across from a beautiful old church, Templo de Nuestra Señora de Aranzazú.

The beds are comfortable, the showers strong and the air conditioner works! The selling point for me was the pool on the roof. We spent happy afternoons sunbathing and cooling off by the pool while listening out for the church bells peal every 15 minutes.

The only downside is that most restaurants and shops in Centro Historico close by 8pm so if you are a late diner you have to make plans to eat elsewhere. However, there is a Dominos a couple doors away and a 7-11 at the corner. We liked Los Faroes, a taco shop a block away that stayed open late.

The hotel is close to everything in downtown Guadalajara at a good price. Our room was recently renovated and, while small, was comfortable, very clean and quiet for sleeping. We’ve enjoyed breakfast (not included in the price of the hotel) and had dinner on our last evening at the restaurant, Hostal del Peregrino, located on the premises. The tortilla soup was one of the best I’ve had in Mexico. Our waiter suggested we finish our drinks in the lobby bar while listening to the piano player where we practiced our Español with a nice family. We especially this last evening at the hotel.

This historic and rustic hotel is a conveniently located to the restaurants: Las Nueve Esquinas, La Chata and La Gorda. The hotel front desk staff is direct. The manager, Alfredo, however, is an exemplar of great customer service. He ensured we were satisfied with our experience there. Thank you Alfredo!

Stop! Don't go! I was at the hotel on February 18th & 19th, 2005. Well, not really, because I had to flee at 9 pm on the 19th, because of the unbelieveable noise. I had to pack up my things (get out of my pjs) and go to another hotel to escape a second night of jarring noise. I am sure the wedding guests partying down in the rooms above my room were having a blast, but it was shaking my bed. The DJ and band did drown out the noise from the disco that had rocked our room the night before, from 11 pm to 5 am... The staff explained that there was a wedding, what could they do? They expected it to end sometime after 1 am. Oh yeah, and the disco...

The rooms are all arranged around a central courtyard/airshaft, with balconeys overlooking the courtyard. The noise echos and bounces to each room. The adolescent boys on the school trip very much enjoyed shouting to one another across the courtyard. The sound of the crying baby the father was walking at 4 am in the airshaft also carried into each room. It was incredible and horrendous, the staff nonchalant. Under no circumstances should you ruin your trip by staying at this hotel.

stayed there Sept 22, 2011 and paid 1,100 pesos (at 13x1) for jr. suite 324, with park view, which we wanted with all the inherent noise, as we live in the desert and need some stressy sounds twice a year. The hotel is quite okay, 3 blocks from Sanborns and right at pedestrian shopping area. However downtown GDL is not really a shopping area by euro or American standards, it;s a mix of hardware stores, junk food and factory "boutiques". The hotel staff was average friendly and the place was clean, yet uninspiring, free underground parking. Compared to Morales and de Mendoza, same thing, really, if you're driving, great spot to get into and out of city, right turn and 10 minutes to Tlaquepaque, left and 4 blocks then left again, 20 minutes to Vallarta Avenue, shopping and dance clubs, restaurants galore. So for 2 days in GDL, especially with a car and or needing taxis, I'd say not a bad place, just don't expect colonial furniture or fixings....

While this hotel may seem interesting on the outside, beware of what it is like to stay. For the price you pay, it is almost expected, but the experience at this hotel was very poor. The beds are extremely uncomfortable, the sheets smell of old basement, and the towels are old and raggedy. The bathrooms are old and run down (I think they have mold?) and we had four guests in our room and they only supplied us with two towels each day. Every day we had to request more towels and it would take hours to deliver. The hotel is understaffed and it shows. They're running around all over the place. The lobby is old, rug coming up off the ground and broken chairs that guests sit on because there is nothing else. To top it off, other guests were shouting and being obnoxiously loud through the hotel where it echoes and wakes you up at 7 am. Terrible stay. Don't stay here long... You won't enjoy it.

Fits the colonial-style mode. Three room types: window room onto street noise; airless interior corridor room; and, room overlooking interior courtyard. Take your pick, take your poison. Selected #3 as least of evils for this stay. Open window on courtyard let in noise and afforded no privacy. But, had to leave it open as the air in the room was still, damp and impregnated with the built-up residue of cleaning solutions, though strangely the room itself did not seem clean. Breathe through your teeth inside the Santiago de Compostela. Rate included good wifi internet, but no breakfast. No discount offered from rack rate if you walk in without reservation. Plenty of food options nearby; Hotel situated a block off the main avenue, and within easy walking of all the sites of historico centro. After one night here, you can walk the area to discover a better hotel.

This hotel has a perfect location, has a good price and is very close to museums, government offices, restaurants, stores, churchs, etc.
The room is clean, has maintenance and is comfortable.
The detail is that room's window looks yo the hallway, so if the guest make noise around, you will listen everything. But if people cooperate there's no problem.
We have this noise problem just one night of 4.
The restaurant is good.
