The view from the roof top terrace across to the square is lovely. Although the bar was not open, we brought our own drinks and food up here. We had breakfast on one morning (25% discount deal) and it was quite formal in the restaurant downstairs but there was a great selection of food.
The hotel is an old building and very pleasing to look at with internal courtyards but have to say, our room was very dark and you needed to have the curtains closed in the bedroom/bathroom for privacy. The rooms are spacious however and the a/c was excellent as was the comfort of the bed. The WiFi was frustrating and slow.
We found most of the staff very friendly apart from a couple of staff at reception when we arrived who perhaps need better training with people skills.
Would we stay again? Not sure as the darkness of the bedroom did get us down.
The only drawback is the building's walls seem to be very thin, you can hear people walking on hallway *do not get a room on first floor. They rates are very good. The housekeeping staff really nice ladies!! The roof is quite nice and a good place to chill out.
The beds are comfortable, the showers strong and the air conditioner works! The selling point for me was the pool on the roof. We spent happy afternoons sunbathing and cooling off by the pool while listening out for the church bells peal every 15 minutes.
The only downside is that most restaurants and shops in Centro Historico close by 8pm so if you are a late diner you have to make plans to eat elsewhere. However, there is a Dominos a couple doors away and a 7-11 at the corner. We liked Los Faroes, a taco shop a block away that stayed open late.
The rooms are all arranged around a central courtyard/airshaft, with balconeys overlooking the courtyard. The noise echos and bounces to each room. The adolescent boys on the school trip very much enjoyed shouting to one another across the courtyard. The sound of the crying baby the father was walking at 4 am in the airshaft also carried into each room. It was incredible and horrendous, the staff nonchalant. Under no circumstances should you ruin your trip by staying at this hotel.
The room is clean, has maintenance and is comfortable.
The detail is that room's window looks yo the hallway, so if the guest make noise around, you will listen everything. But if people cooperate there's no problem.
We have this noise problem just one night of 4.
The restaurant is good.
