We have stayed at the Frances several times now. I love the central location, and the hotel has it's own unique ambiance. If you are looking for a modern hotel- don't stay here. The elevator may or may not be working, and the noise is always an issue. We have tried rooms overlooking the lobby and had noise from the...

My family and I stayed in this hotel and it felt like we were back in the days of Pancho Villa. It was a fun experience. Everything looks quite original, the wooden floors, the furniture, the balconies, and it still has that old spanish touch. The live music in the hotel might get pretty loud some nights but it did't...

This hotel has immense potential - in a beautiful old building in a perfect location. However, the management has let the place go downhill. Sheets on the bed are thin and worn, there is poor ventilation, and in general the hotel is dark and dingy. I'm a frequent traveller to Guadalajara, and have found so many far superior hotels for...

I am a hisotrian and loved staying in this beautiful historic hotel. It was noisy at times but I love to experience thje sight and sounds of the city. My room was right on the street. It was a beautiful clean room. I felt I was in colonial Mexico

This is a good downtown hotel that isn't a dive and doesn't break the budget. The location in el centro can't be beat! The only negative is the noise. Many rooms open onto the street, with the noise of people and horses in the am, or onto the corridor where you hear people walking by. With earplugs, though, it's not...

I don't like to give negative reviews of hotels. However this hotel was the worst experience Ive ever had in a hotel. The room was clean but smelled so bad of pinesol that I had to leave to door open. The bed was saggy. The worst of it is the music. The hotel has wonderful acoustics and if you were...

We stayed 5 nights in beautiful hotel Frances downtown Guadalajara!! Everything in "el centro historico" on walking distance. Impressed by the authentic colonial style of this hotel!!! Big, clean rooms and bathrooms!! English speaking and very helpful and friendly staff!! I highly recommend this hotel!! The noise didn't bother me: after all, Guadalajara is a big city!! ONE MINOR THING:...

Very centrally located (but hard to find in a car). Very inexpensive large rooms. We had a 2 bedroom suite with small balconies. An old and charming building but somewhat faded. On our first night, there was ear splitting noise until 11:30 sharp from a bar/disco down below. For some reason, there was no noise the second night. Very lovely...

I checked out the Hotel Frances before making a decision; I decided to keep looking. First, I asked for a quiet room. I was shown a room on the uppermost floor, tucked away down a hallway, in the back. Indeed, this was probably the quiest room in the hotel. However, the hotel's inside patio acts like an echo chamber. Street...
