A friend and I stayed here in March 2000, before any renovations had been done. Stayed on the 5th floor. Elevator button said "S" (sótano) because the "5" was missing. Room big and two queen beds. Bathroom was open to the room next door at the top of the shower wall. No problem, no one could see over. The pool...

Ive stayed at the hotel belmar numerous times over the last 22 years. Its Hit and miss on beds in the rooms and don't try and stay there during bike week and Semana santos unless you are booked months in advance, but very accommodating and easy on the pocket book! Its also very close to a beach and within walking...

A loyal customer since the 1990"s, I am happy to see the Belmar getting some room upgrades. My 5th floor room was updated, now with modern air conditioning. The property also seems to have an increasing number of long-term renters. If you enjoy the Belmar, you get it. You just can't beat staying in the Olas Altas section of Mazatlan....

I have never stayed at this hotel however, I do go in and take the elevator to the roof top. Here you can get a drink and take in the sites that surround this hotel. I've enjoyed watching the cruise ships come in and leave or just watching the ocean. This spot is a nice quite get away that I...

Some of the rooms need much upgrade. We upgraded after the first night and the room was nice, very clean and the staff was wonderful. The view couldn't have been better, gold zone view for a quarter of the price! Not to mention, now I can say I stayed where John Wayne once stayed!

I was attracted by the history of the hotel, its location, and its modest pricing. It was great in all of these, especially the view/sounds from our balcony which was about 100 feet from the Pacific Ocean and the malecon. We could watch some of the nightlife of Mazatlan from our hotel. The room was very large, had a nicely...

The Hotel Belmar is clean, convenient, with secure parking and great internet. Yes, I would stay again. The beds are a bit stiff, Mexican style, but the staff are accommodating. Nice and quiet on the inner circle of rooms. Step up and down out of the elevator. All around a pleasant place.

The Belmar has a bohemian quality to it and one can feel the history. If you require champagne, a mint under your pillow, or even dependable water pressure, go to one of the newer flashy joints in the Sábalos district and pay $200/night. The Belmar is reasonably clean and safe. $35 for a king-size bed and a balcony overlooking the...

We spent one night at Hotel Belmar while traveling through Mexico via motorcycle from LA on a tight budget. This was a great location (although in a busy area during the day and early evening, things appeared to shut down at 10pm and street food was difficult to find) and for only $20 for an interior room it worked for...

After several short stays at the Belmar, this past winter we decided to stay for five months. We were pleasantly surprised. Yes, it is old, yes there are parts that desperately need repair, but the suites on our floor are all in good repair and very comfortable. We have a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, which are all very serviceable. The...

“the ocean view is fantastic (on the 5th floor) but it is noisy”
brinlois, 23 Apr 2015 | Read review
“Ground floor; around pool, saloon, and lobby; can be high-traffic and noisy, but is within easy staggering distance of the bar if that's your thing. Wireless Internet has been installed at the Belmar, but curiously isn't advertised, or even admitted to if you ask, but coverage is spotty. Ocean-front rooms don't have it, interior rooms may, but a good connection seems to be available in the seating area in front of the elevators on every floor.”

“Patio rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors are the best. The ocean rooms with balconies are older and can be noisy but some people really like them.”
