My husband and I were in Huatulco April 20-28, 2009. We stayed at the Camino Real Zaashila which had positives and negatives. Negatives were poor service, (our room service trays stayed outside our rooms for up to 2 days attracting birds and ants - even after calling the front desk), the bed was literally as hard as a rock (and... We stayed at the Camino Real from March 21 through the 28th for spring break. It was a wonderful experience! Many of the other guests were Mexican tourists (and a smattering of Canadiens) which added to the overall experience. I like the fact that the staff, on rare occasions, spoke minimal English. It actually forced me to try and learn... More

We decided to stay at the Camino Real resort for our trip this year and were debating whether we should book a standard room through the resort or book one of the privately owned villas within the resort. We found a great site: My Huatulco Vacation - which had a few different private options (1 bdrm, 2 bdrm and 5... More

We visited the hotel for a day, while staying at a B&B and liked it so much, we asked about a room for one night. They at first claimed they had no rooms, but we didn't think the girl at the front desk spoke enough English to understand that we only wanted one night. We asked to speak to the... More

We have just returned from a wonderful one week's stay at the Camino Real Zaashila in Huatulco. It was a first resort experience and we loved the rooms with balcony overlooking the ocean. The lush tropical vegetation provided very restful surroundings. We enjoyed the quiet, low key atmosphere and were most impressed with the helpfulness of the staff. Every morning... More

The resort does not fulfill its 5star attitude they think to have. It is especially not worth the 4200 Pesos they try to charge per night. Rooms are spacious, but equipped with old furniture. Bathroom with bad solution for the shower, every time the bath was flooded. Service has much room to improve! Reluctant staff at the reception desk, some... More

We stayed at the Oaxaca Camino Real and had a great time, but were disappointed at the service and hotel at Zaachila in Huatulco. The receptionists acted like they were doing you a favor and had long waits past check in time for when our room was ready. The sliding doors to patios didn't have locks that worked, shower doors... Our family stayed here in December for 3 nights. The hotel itself is quaint, we loved the Meditteranean architecture. The beach was private and clean. It was nice to be able to eat breakfast right on the beach while we watched our kids play in the sand. There were lots of shells, crabs, and other animals for the kids to... More

My family (2 adults, 2 children aged 12 and 16) stayed at the Camino Real from Dec 29th, 2008 until January 5, 2009. Huatulco is a great smaller sized resort with several all inclusive resorts on the Tongalunda bay. This hotel is not an all inclusive so it attracts a different kind of clientele (majority are wealthy Mexicans but there... More

When we first arrived at the Hotel Camino Real Zaashila, I have to admit I was a little disappointed because I felt like we'd left 'real Mexico' for a glitzy resort (we had just arrived on an overnight bus from Oaxaca city). However, these inital reservations were quickly forgotten. First, we arrived at around 7am the first morning and were... More
