This hotel has obviously seen busier days. At the top of the hill among the fancy houses built for the original mine managers, it has views of the sea and a pool. Great lounge with atmosphere and large rooms with really high ceilings and padded wall coverings! Great if you like traditional, luxurious hotels that have seen better days. Good...

For me this was a different kind of stay. The past and present moment in a constant clash. Luckily the manager of this little gem was around to help decipher my odd feelings of curiosity. She was very well informed of the history of the hotel and the area around town. While it does need a little updating, the historical...

So much history to this little hotel, worth an overnight. Old creaky floors, hard bed, AC, nice views of water from upstairs. Sky tv, wifi, coffee, fruit, toast in morning included in price. Swimming pool and safe area. Banking, gas, food, shopping, fun walking around the downtown.

After a cold riding day heat was on the menu but not forthcoming. The shower eventually gave warm after a 10 minute run. I slept like a log though. The place was built in 1886 and the floorboards creaked. The whole place smelled of wood. The pool did not look inviting. This place is a must visit. It's not your...

Santa Rosalia is a town like no other in Baja. It was established in1884 by a French mining company which exploited all the copper in the area until mid 1950s. Very little seems to have changed in Santa Rosalia since its establishment which makes the town particularly interesting architecturally. The town is built in wood and the 1-2 floor constructions...

On a driving trip thru Baja CA, I finally got to see this historic hotel, if only for a brief half hour. It was enough time to convince me that I want to plan a stay here sometime. The lobby, complete with a Tiffany table lamp, fabric covered walls and handsome wooden furnature, was definitely from another era. There is,...

It is not too often I get to say I really enjoyed staying at a hotel. At The Hotel St. Francis the staff has bent over backwards to accommodate us and it has been excellent. The beds are comfortable, and I love the oversize casement windows that open and allow fresh air to come in! It's central location has allowed...

If you ever wanted to spend a night in a museum, this is the place to go. It makes you feel like in a Western movie. A lot of character. Simply amazing! Some people have a lot to complain here. I think they shouldn't come to Mexico in the first place. Of course the hotel isn't perfect, like many hotels...

I had heard many things, both good and bad about the Hotel Frances. I had never stayed in Santa Rosalia, always heading south. But this weekend we were on a break from our Amigos de Los Californios trip before heading up to Santa Martha. We were booked into the Hotel Frances. Easy to find on the north rim of the...

We didn't stay here so what I have to say doesn't apply to the accommodation. We went to the hotel for breakfast, hoping to get something vaguely French and delicious. The Hotel is beautiful, kept in real French style and surrounded by old trains and copper smelting equipment from the old mine. the interior decoration is beautiful and very French...
