Do Not Stay Here!!! 3 reasons why: 1) BED BUGS !!!!  2) RATS 3) Hugo is a THUG / CON / BULLY After negotiated a price with Hugo, we paid 3 days in advance (please note that there are no ATMs here), is when we realized what type of charter we were dealing with. After enjoying a wonderful eveing at...

Went here just after new year ... the beach was so packed you could barely walk but Hugo's Place seemed slightly less busy and we managed to get a fair price. Hugo was sort of a character, reminded me a lot of a friend back in Europe ... he's the kind of guy that could be taken as a douche...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a night. Hugo seemed very friendly at first. Some time later when we had some food he got really angry and we thought it was because we kept food in the room (I speak Spanish, but he didn't speak slowly, just angry). Later it turned out you can only buy food there. No...

The 4 of us had the same feeling: a few minutes after we paid the service and the smiles were completely gone. Hugo gave us a really bad feeling about the place. He seems friendly but his business side is horrible. We asked him for a 2 hour fishing tour. He said we would meet at 7am. He arrived at...

We stayed here after deciding to extend our 1 day tour of the island to 2 days. It was the most reasonably priced place at offered cobanas and was not sold out for the night. It is on the right hand side of the beach, so much calmer than the busier end. It also has loungers you can use on...

we stumbled across Hugo and his Place whilst on Playa Blanca and had a wonderful stay. A true piece of paradise right on the beach. Also a great private tour of the islands with a snorkeling trip, much better than the touristy organised trips. Thanks Hugo!

During our one night stay on Isla Baru we stayed here. The rooms are great for a night and the views in the morning are amazing, you just wake up and walk straight into the sea. Hugo, the owner is a great guy, and although we didnt but the lobster from his place, he prepared it for us and made...

This is not your typical hostel experience at all. So it depends on your frame of mind to make the most out of it! My experience went as follows: we booked a boat tip from Cartagena to see Islas del Rosario archipelago, which happened to stop in Playa Blanca for 1 hour so people could have lunch on its way...

We are not usual rapid tourists, we like to get know the places where we travel. I was concerned because of the previous reviews, I wasn't sure if we will like this place to stay but after a week spent here I understand the reason behind all the reviews. Playa Blanca and the accommodations there is for people who like...

Stayed here for a few nights. When ordering food we were told to order an hour in advance and whether it was for the breakfast or dinners , it did take that long to arrive. The accommodation was basic but seemed standard among what was on offer on the beach. the beds had mosquito nets but no fans. however they...

“Slept in the hummocks on the ground floor, so don't know about the upstair's rooms. The hummocks are hung close to each other, so just know it. I slept very well, although the moskito nets had holes and I got stung nevertheless (but the mosquitos are of the rather milder sort over here, I found). The lockers are a great idea, and I felt very safe leaving my bags and belongings, even on trips out into the islands.”
