We loved the deCameron Baru. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beach was lovely, the food was plentiful and tasty and the staff was great. Of special note are the incredible pools. There really isn't that much to do of a touristy nature at the Baru but that is exactly why we loved it. Make sure you visit Cartagena....

Stayed with my wife for three nights in December. Very good hotel, with great beach and close to playa blanca. You can walk there and it is a must during early morning before the boats with turists arrive. Minus was the food - regular but it is an all inclusive. One should not expect much... Recommend booking the thematic restaurants...

Just completed another great 2 weeks at Baru. Dirt road off the main highway to the resort is still a challenge. Check in was quick, although first room assigned was in building 3 too close to the lobby and main pool with lots of noise. Request for a room in building 2 was handled the next morning. This room however...

The price is absolutely ridiculous for the service and food you get (we payed around US$550/night for 2 adults). To be fair I have to say the hotel facilities are good and the service is average. The food is absolutely disgusting... This one is a NO go!

Except for the check in process, that seems to be cucumbersome at most hotels in Colombia, this hotel is amazing. The beach, the rooms, the food, the pool, the activities, pretty much everything is awesome. The buildings do not have elevators, so if you have problems walking this might be a problem for you. It was not for us. They...

We have wanted to experience more of Colombia since our last trip to Cartagena in 2015. We flew into Panama City (Tocumen International Airport) from Los Angeles using Copa Airlines. Copa Airlines is always a great airlines to use - they are efficient, friendly crew members, provide a meal, snacks, liquor and your 1st bag (50 lbs) at no additional...

The restaurant, bar and the entertainment staff are outstanding!!! I would say, this is the best part of Royal Decameron. They go above and beyond to make you feel special. It would be awesome if they spoke English. I am bilingual, so there was no problem but my husband is not. Rooms are comfortable yet they need an update. This...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located at the paradisiac Baru peninsula, 75 minutes from Cartagena and member of the TripAdvisor ‘Hall of Fame’ for its certified excellence during 5 consecutive years, the Decameron Baru allows guests to enter a magical experience that will disconnect them from the outside world. The resort is located amidst a tropical forest and its architectural design intermingles with an ecological environment surrounded by many beaches, among which is the popular ‘Playa Blanca’, considered one of the best beaches of the Colombian Caribbean, and the luxurious ‘Playa Puntilla’ beach, where our travellers may enjoy a private club and several sports such as kayaking, rowing, scuba and snorkeling. Partying and enjoyment are guaranteed, enlivened with the rhythms from the countries of the great Caribbean basin such as ‘champeta’, a genre that mixes African and Colombian Indigenous sounds and that introduces travellers to the local culture. As a complement to pleasure, you may sharpen your senses with the delicacies of typical and renowned Colombian Caribbean cuisine. From this destination you may explore Cartagena’s colonial history and visit other important cities from Colombia’s northern territory such as Barranquilla, a commercial, river and sea port and seat of the multitudinous Carnival, as well as historic Santa Marta, considered the most beautiful bay in America. ... more   less
