Booked directly at the hotel for 500 Baht/night for what was supposed to be an air conditioned room. The room (room 31) was too hot. Had to ask to move to another room after a couple of hours because the air condition was not producing enough cold. The air condition of the second room (room 22) was a bit better,... More

Baanthara was my home base for two weeks. Its' location near to Ao nang thaiboxing was excellent. Room was big and clean but a bit worn. Wi-fi and A/C worked fine. That's all I needed. I rent a bike near to this guest house and it was easy to bike everywhere.

Rented here because it had a lockbox, and looked clean on agoda. We had plans to head on a boating ride and needed to lock up our stuff. Well there was no lockbox, room looked very rugged compared to pictures. The manager said lock box is broken and he could try to fix it tomorrow. Really?. Then the rain came... More

Very friendly owner and staff. They'll arrange everything / do their utmost for you to make your stay in their guesthouse successful. We had a great stay at Baanthara during our five week honeymoon. The guesthouse is very clean. The shower is good, the bed (pillows, mattress, sheets) is define, and the air-conditioning in de room worked perfectly. The guesthouse... More

Read reviews and was scared to turn up here! It's a nice guesthouse for what you pay, clean and tidy room, spacious, good air con! No shoe policy so they are trying to keep place clean! 50 baht each tuktuk to centre, about 5 minutes, probably 30 minute walk!

We staied at baathara for 6 nights..never ever again. The room itself is not bad but it is extremely dirty.we haven't had the room clean for two days and when we had because we requested to do. Everyday we came back from the beach around 6pm and the room was never done. We had to ask everyday for toilet paper, shower... More

You do not want to stay here! Feral cats casually lying around reception area. Room smells damp, pubic hair on toilet seat, dead bugs in the corner, mould growing on the ceiling, mirrors absolutely filthy, paper and hair lying in shower, checked in an hour ago and we are leaving as soon as we have found somewhere else to go,... Baanthara is a new guesthouse in the hills above Ao Nang's beaches. The rooms are very modern and were clean. The A/C was powerful and the bathrooms were nicely modelled. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The beds were even and firm, which I loved. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. He went out of his way to make us... More

After an 8 hour journey we arrived at Baan Thara where the lady behind the desk didn't seem to speak any English and was unable to find our booking. She didn't seem bothered to help very much and just looked tired. When we got to the room we noticed it seemed semi cleaned. Further inspection found hairs all over the... More

We stayed here because we booked through TAT up in Bangkok. A complete scam, never book anything through a tourist information place!! Even through TAT ruined our southern trip by booking us in crappy places, this one turned out to be alright. Really nice staff/owner, clean, quite, no complaints really. Fridge in the room which was great, nice size closet,... More
