The Crown and Castle is a 5-star Restaurant with Rooms open for lunch and dinner all year round (but closed in the morning and afternoon to non-residents guests). Situated in the tranquil village of Orford on the Suffolk coast (just south of Aldeburgh), the Crown and Castle is perfect for leisure guests wanting to relax and recharge. With wonderful walking by the river and through nearby forests, we are a stone’s throw from the magnificent C12th castle. The extraordinary Orford Ness (NT) is just across the river Ore. Awarded Editor’s Choice by the 2018 Good Hotel Guide and chosen by the Sunday Times as one of the Best 100 hotels for 2019, authentic British and Italian food is at our heart and we were recently honoured by Sawday’s Guide for Fabulous Food. We have five dedicated Garden rooms suitable for dogs, as recognised by a recent Good Hotel Guide dog-friendly award. There are two family rooms suitable for children over 8 and children of any age are welcome at lunchtime.

The Crown and Castle is consistently excellent; from the service, friendliness, rooms and quality of food, it never disappoints. I've been visiting with my partner for nearly 15 years (we'll be back as soon as our twins are old enough to stay! [it somewhat amuses me that dogs

Walked into a roaring fire & a wonderful welcome, great start to lunch. We started with the Pump street sourdough, the crust & flavour were to die for, very hard to stop eating it and a proper amount of real butter. I had the set Pesce menu 2 courses £18.50. Started with

Thank you very much for your lovely comments. Good to hear that you were comfortable in room 31 and were able to grab some much deserved r & r after the festive period. Thank you also for setting the scene for those that may not be so familiar with the C&C. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

We have stayed here several times in recent years, and because we have always been so well looked after and been exposed to great food, accommodation and service, we decided to book on to the Festive Flop and New Year's package this year. Wow, it was brilliant! Neither of us

Our story is little different in that we did not set out to go from London to Orford to stay at the Crown and Castle. We set out to go from Thetford to Orford on the return to London. When we arrived in Orford, it was 4:30 pm and my husband had gone to Orford to buy fresh fish

Gosh! Thank you! What a marvellous in-depth review. It will be a great help to those who don’t just want to know about the C&C but Orford, too. Of course, we are also great fans of all the village has to offer, from Pinney's and Pump Street Bakery to the butcher and general store. We are delighted you were able to enjoy it. Delighted, too, that you decided to stop off and stay with us for two whole days. (And many congratulations on your wedding!) Thank you for all the lovely compliments about the food and our staff, especially the welcome - and that the portion sizes are more than adequate! We do hope we will be able to welcome you back in the near future. In the meantime, thank you again and every good wish for your married life together.
