We stopped off for a quick bite to eat whilst out on a motorbike ride this evening. Been before and had a lovely meal, so decided to return. BIG mistake!!! Terrible service. Had to ask 4 times to be served and after 1 hour of waiting, eventually got told that they were busy and someone would come to us when... More

Visited after a walk up to the castle and white horse. Glad we found this place as we needed a good refresher and the bar was well stock for all of us. The pizzas were thin crispy and tasted good, recommend trying one.

We had booked for the period august 23 till august 28 and were accommodated in room 2, very spacious with a bathroom upstairs. Breakfast was great with a wide choice, as were the diners. Very friendly staff, Always with a smile. Felt very welcome and certainly will revisit soon.

Not knowing what to do when you walk into a pub is one of my bugbears. Tables with no menus, yet bar staff reluctant to give a menu and told us to take a table and someone would follow with a menu... 15 minutes later they hadn't. Went back inside and asked for a menu again, reluctantly given whilst asking... More

Booked a table for 18.30 and we were served promptly. The food, particularly the "chips" with the fish were not up to the usual standard we have had here before. They were dry and not crispy. Given the speed in which they were delivered to us, I might have even thought they were reheated from lunchtime. The "3 ways Lamb"... More

We stopped here for a group lunch before heading home after a weekend camping. The food was really good and the garden was lovely but the pub and staff were not particularly family-friendly. No highchairs, no children's menu (they offer half portions of the adults menu), and no baby change. Maybe better for couples!

I have known of this pub for many, many years, but for various reasons have never needed to stay there until now.It is a very picturesque building both inside and out. The quintessential English Country Pub! It is half-timbered (albeit not ancient) with lovely low ceilings, nice gardens at the back and a spacious bar and restaurant. The food is... More

Went there to for evening meal, great and attentive service. Food was great (especially the Pork 'fest' main course), dessert almost too big (the crime brûlée). Would thoroughly recommend, it does get very busy so booking at popular times is a must.

We reserved a table at the front of this picturesque hotel. The food was certainly a step up from the ordinary pub fare, and was served promptly with pleasant and cooperative service staff. A lovely way to spend evening with sun setting over the hill

Tempted by the pizza oven in the garden we have this a go after a long walk. The pizza was very nice. The attitude of the manager was not nice and this seems to have rubbed off on other staff who were all rather glum. My dogs and I were also a little confused by the artificial grass in the... More
