The hostel is adjacent to Kinloch Castle and is comfortable if a bit basic. The central heating is very effective and the showers have plenty of hot water and good pressure. Most people staying there are either stalking, walking or mountaineering. The island is unique. Fewer than thirty people live on the island and many work for Scottish National Heritage...

Stayed here for 2 weeks on a geology mapping project with 2 friends. Rooms were big and comfortable, bed was comfier that mine at home! Staff were friendly and kitchens were very good. Lounge area was very comfortable and warm! Noise during rain is quite loud but personally I loved to hear it from the warm hostel! Resident chickens did...

We stayed here for 3 nights, which was supposed to have been 2 but the ferry was cancelled due to bad weather. Mel was really helpful giving us access to the phone to cancel/change arrangements. She also produced some alcohol which helped make the final evening go with a bang. It's extremely warm with plentiful hot water for showers and...

Stayed for 4 nights in March. Warm, comfortable and excellent facilities. Ideal base if you don't like to share with midges and ticks. Even wi-fi, though don't expect super speed. Well-appointed kitchens. Staff very helpful and friendly.

For anyone who has stayed in the old castle hostel it's a very different experience. Good showers - and plenty of them, far better toilet accommodation too. Two self catering kitchens which are well equipped and with two separate dining areas also well provided with space. So sadly none of those lovely meals cooked for you any more. We were...
