Detailed Reviews
We have stayed at many B & B's over the years, but The Manse has to be the best. The rooms are all well appointed and comfortable. The location is great with so many places to visit. Pete and Jen made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The next time we are in the area we will stay there.

There is nothing particularly wrong with the Manse but it is just not up to scratch compared with other B and B's of the same classification. The twin room was adequate but tired and strangely, there was a glass door between the bedroom and en-suite so my room-mate could see me on the loo! I would describe the place as having lost it's zing and noticed a "for sale" sign out front. The hosts were pleasant but didn't have that air of enthusiasm and helpfulness that so many other hosts have. The breakfast was pretty good and well cooked though.

I like this B&B, it is not trying to be a hotel, it is not sterilised, just sensibly clean, and it is a friendly and welcoming B&B situated smack, plumb in the middle of Llanymynech. The location is perfect, you are 30 seconds walk from the three pubs [Bradford Arms, Cross Keys and the Dolphin], which are the only places to eat and drink in the village.
The accommodation is fine for a B&B. My room had two single beds and a small, but perfectly adequate en-suite shower-room. The best thing about the stay was the fabulous cooked breakfast in the morning. We had a wide menu to choose from, all the produce was locally sourced Welsh food, and it was delicious!
I cannot recommend this B&B highly enough, don't stay anywhere else in Llanymynech.

It is important for me to put this review into context. We had stayed the night before (for £5 more) at probably one of the best B&Bs on the planet - we had witnessed superb hospitality, luxurious surroundings and a setting to die for. So 12 miles further north on Offa's Dyke we had high expectations.
Sadly these were not met. The Manse is a rather grand title for what we presume is a Victorian detatched on a very busy main road with no double glazing! Our twin room was cramped and although there is a shower ensuite there is a glazed door which means anyone nipping to the toilet can be witnessed by their fellow guest - not at all satisfactory.
There were tea facilities with biscuits, a small TV, bedside light and wardrobe which offered blankets - we quickly made use of these as there was just a sheet and counterpane on each bed. The covering of dust on the main lampshade was quite revealing!
There's a fridge on the landing for the milk.
Downstairs offers a guest lounge with a great range of guide books and some games. The room is a tad soul-less however and in need of complete refurbishment.
High spot was the breakfast served in a cheery manner. This was clean, well presented and tasty. All in all The Manse would have received an "average" score from us had it been £10 cheaper to reflect the somewhat down at heel appearance and ambiance. Maybe new owners will invest in better glazing to keep out the sound of the lorries, some stair carpet to replace the threadbare one and give the place a deep clean. A little love will go a long way.
We tried the pub opposite for dinner (convenience) and this wasn't great either, but a fine collection of beer mats!
