Recommended by a local we decided to go for an evening meal. Food was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful, the place was full of diners but they managed to sort us a table. Enjoyed so much that we went back the evening before we travelled home.

The fact that beers are sold at £4.50 and £3.95 a pint (for a local ale) reflects the existence of no competition for a fair distance. These prices are more that I pay for comparable beers in Central London. Although the table service was very good, the food was nothing more than "average" and consequently overpriced.

We were struggling to find somewhere to stay, then happened upon the cottages at Meiklour Arms. Delightful! Great location away from the hotel, excellently fitted out, fantastic value. Shame about the drive, but it's on their improvement list so will get better. It's a place we must go back to again.

The stayed in one of the cottages, we were so surprised when we opened the door. These have been fitted out to a very high standard, the lay out is perfect. You walk in to a reception area, to the left is the first bedroom and en-suit. To the right is and open kitchen and living area beautifully decorated. On...

Four of us stayed in one of the two bed roomed cottages. The cottage was spotless and the decor was great. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel. The food and service was great. Would definitely go back.

We stayed at this hotel a number of years ago & at the time we thought it was excellent great for a romantic night away in the country. This time we were very disappointed. The room we were given was dark and dismal (& no it was not raining when we stayed). The housekeeping standards are not up to standard...

Three of us stayed in one of the cottages for one night. The cottage had two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a very large kitchen/living area. Everything was spotless and very recently updated. I would highly recommend a stay here and would definitely recommend this as a home base for exploring the surrounding area.

Staying in a nearby holiday cottage and had dinner here midweek. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and we were shown our table on arrival. Wife & I both had the smoked salmon parcel which were very good and almost a meal in itself. Daughter has the pork scratching's which were unusual but tasted great. Rib eye steak was good...

We were very lucky to get a table, as this place was very busy on a Tuesday lunchtime. It is a pretty wee pub and hotel in the middle of the country, with a great menu and good friendly service.
