Booked online. Was not expecting much because there was not much else in area and I am use to staying at name brand hotels. Wow, were we pleasantly surprised, What a beautiful place. Located right on the ocean. There was nothing between our front door and the ocean. We could view it from every window. Our cottage was very spacious...

I just visited the Island Sunset for the first time in 3 years. The food and service was better than ever! This is easily one of the best places, if not the best place, to eat between the Glenora Distillery and the end of the Cabot Trail. Excellent food, excellent service, great wine menu, a wonderful waterfront view and a...

I was afraid when I booked the Island Sunset that it would be too far removed from any town and maybe not exactly what I was looking for, but it was great & we were so happy to be there. It is right on the Cabot Trail, close to the entrance of the Highlands National Park. It was extremely clean....

Cheticamp area is a pretty wind swept and treeless area but has nice ocean views. We paid quite a lot for this hotel and did not find it good value. The rooms were spacious and nicely appointed and the beds were comfortable but the cleanliness seemed to be lacking in the hallway and bathroom areas. In addition there were a...

We stayed here for 4 nights in August as a family. As a previous reviewer wrote, this place has the potential to be so much more than it is currently and I hope the Management take note. It is in a wonderful, peaceful location for touring this side of the island and for viewing the idyllic sunsets over the water....

Stayed one night when driving around Cape Breton. Lovely location and good walks in the village. Great sea views. Room was vast and well equipped with all we needed. No wireless internet, but the lady on reception was so helpful with the office facilities when I had an urgent business matter to attend to. Dinner was very good too in...

This resort has the potential to be perfect! Lovely location, layout, design, and decor. However, there seems to be no attention to detail. Our suite seemed tired, not very clean, slightly run down. I noticed dustballs in the corners, spiderwebs, mold in the bathroom, etc. The bathroom was my biggest disappointment. As mentioned, there was mold in the corners and...

We stayed for five nights late July 2012. Good size apartment, but having rented the Sunset Royal Suite (most expensive) I expected newer couches, clean drapes and clean air conditioning filter. When I called about the missing adirondack chairs I was told they had lost some in the wind storm - when was that last year! Drapes and couches ready...

These cottages / suites are ideally situated - just a few hundred feet from the shore, and beautiful scenery around you. The rooms are a great size - a spacious living room with electric fireplace, nice kitchenette, very nice bathroom with a spacious shower and a whirlpool tub that was comfortable for two. The bed was also very comfortable. It...

We have just returned from a three-night stay and really enjoyed our time at Island Sunset Resort. The room was huge with comfortable furniture,a nice kitchenette, good bathroom & pleasant decor. We were disappointed to find no adirondack chairs on our porch - only a few of the "better view" rooms seemed to have them - we decided that this...
