It is a meticulously restored 1920 Shekhawati Haveli with colonial pillared architecture, Italian art-deco influences, mughal arches and handmade fresco paintings. Malji Ka Kamra is family-run, personalized and authentic to take you back to the era of Marwari traders and live their stories. Stayed at the start of the holiday season and there was only one other couple staying too. Amazingly characterful heritage hotel actually a former dancing palace for the Haveli across the road. Wonderful welcome, staff very friendly and helpful. A great variety of trips were offered from here including a jeep safari with breakfast near a water tank, sundowners on the dunes and an evening meal on the dunes. The guided tour of Churu and its incredible frescoed Havelis by Lal Singh was one of the highlights of our Indian holiday. Lal was the best guide by far in our three weeks in Rajasthan.
Our room had a balcony overlooking the front and was authentically characterful rather than modern. Food in the evening was very good and extremely reasonably priced. A final touch on our departure included a snack bag and local gifts.
Locals were very friendly and we were invited into the local temple next door where a festival was going on.

Malji ka kamra is not your usual hotel. It is steeped in history and heritage. Staying there is an experience in itself. Everytime I go to Churu, Malji Ka Kamra is an automatic choice to stay. Every time I stay here, I marvel at it's neatly preserved interiors, it's royal ambience and history.

While rooms in front have a large balcony and offer great view of the vast front yard, rooms in the back have marvellous old wall and roof paintings and carvings which have been painstakingly preserved in their original form.

The staff there is amazing and offers you a personalised service in terms of choice of rooms, food etc. It is a unique and unforgettable experience to stay here.

The property is surrounded by a lot of heritage havelis and strolling through the 'Heritage Walk' makes you marvel at enterprising spirit of many a 'sethji's who call Churu their home yet have settled in different parts of the country and have become successful businessmen.

This hotel/haveli is a hidden gem. I stayed 2 nights with my 18 yr old daughter. It was fabulous from start to finish. Big rooms, very comfortable beds, DELICIOUS food and the staff were so accommodating - nothing was a problem and we felt like royalty! We did the sunset drink in the desert, morning heritage walk and a magical supper on a reservoir in the desert, all organised by the hotel , which I really recommend. Our guide was passionate about history. He was very interesting, humble and not pushy which was lovely. Churu is not touristy and this Haveli is the real deal.

Only thing is it is quite cold in the evenings/night (Jan) so bring some layers and a jumper. It is a heritage Haveli and v comfortable, with tea and coffee in the room but don't expect full on mod cons but this adds to its charm! An absolute must!

Very good location in Churu town. It is an old and large haveli converted into a hotel. It has been very well restored and saved from ruin. Beautiful interior.
Congratulations to the current owners.
Spacious rooms decorated with beautiful frescoes. Large bathroom.
Good breakfast and dinner.
Very welcoming staff.
When we left we were offered a pocket in the name of the hotel with bottled water and small bags of treats. That's really very kind attention.

I spent a night in Malji ka Kamra, I loved this stay! The hotel is beautiful, and really gives the impression of taking a leap in a different time. The staff is very attentive, and the cuisine is delicious: it is an opportunity to discover Rajasthani specialties. And I loved visiting the village, whether it's the Heritage Tour or visiting the craftsmen, it's really a great way to discover the city. In short, I recommend 100%!

A 2 night stay at this wonderful heritage hotel enjoying the comfortable property to ourselves. The interior decoration was atmospheric and a very special visual experience. All staff were courteous and helpful and the out of hotel trips we were taken on such delightful experiences in themselves. Sundowner sunset , Jeep safari, walking tours of the Haveli’s and Evening meal by a reservoir. Lal Singh our guide was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable.
All the delicious snacks and meals served were memorable.
A real gem of a hotel.

2 night stays in this charming Haveli. The rooms are comfortable but in their own style... The catering is homemade with great care, we really liked it. The staff is very attentive and we are entitled to a small presentation of the place upon arrival, very friendly.

We had some lovely experiences whilst staying here and tasty food. With the hotel team and a very knowledgeable local guide we went out into the countryside for sunset, breakfast and had a memorable candlelit dinner. Rakesh Singh Rathore was particularly helpful. Thankyou.

Rajesh and his staff did everything possible to make our stay as memorable as it could be.

We enjoyed sundowners on a dune in the desert and a breakfast picnic at an ancient water well. After that we went on a game drive to see antelope, deer, camels, falcons and a variety of other wild life.

In the afternoon the local guide - Lal Singh (ask him where he lives!) - took us on a walking tour of the largely disused Havelis around the old city of Churu.

That evening we ate a delicious meal prepared over open fires at another ancient well site and relaxed with a glass of wine by candle light in the quiet of the desert.

And compliments to the chef for the meals he prepared back at the hotel too.

A stay at the Haveli will give you an insight into local life and history that would be difficult to experience in any other way; a stay here is highly recommended!
