We came back to the pink sands a year after our last visit and can honestly say that we have seen an improvement in many of the areas we felt the hotel fell short of last year. Front desk was attentive, our golf cart ready when we arrived. We arrived a bit earlier than expected and they really helped to get our room ready as soon as possible and kept us informed on the progress. Our ocean view villa was breezy and had its own path to the beach and it’s still the best spot in the whole pink sands beach. Why it’s not yet a 5 for us? The villas need a bit of a spruce up, the landscaping is suffering, the smell of pot from the builders smoking was a bit overpowering. It has all the potential to become the best hotel on the island. We love Harbour Island and we’ll come back again. Can’t wait to see this hotel improving even more!…
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Pink Sands Resort, but I would have liked to be able to rate it a 3.5. There are a few things that could be improved to make the property much better. For starters, not ever having been to Harbor Island, we arranged a transfer ahead of time with the hotel from the airport. We were met by a friendly hotel staff member, Marvin, who simply got into a taxi with us for a 2 minute ride to the dock. He then came with us on the water taxi for a 5 minute ride to the Harbour Island dock. Once at the dock, after a long and tiring travel day with multiple flights, we were told that there was no driver there to take us to our hotel and we would have to wait a few minutes. The transfer cost $132 and the hotel asked for my arrival information ahead of time, so I expected someone to be there for us. What were we paying all this money for? Having to wait at the dock for that price was unacceptable. We were the last people there as everyone else had rides to pick them up and bring them to their hotels. Do NOT waste your money on a transfer with the hotel it is a scam. We complained to the front desk and a very un-sympathetic “sorry” was all we got. On the way back we learned our lesson and easily arranged our own rides for a total of $15 per person (for all 3 legs of the trip—a cab from the hotel to the dock, a seat on the water taxi to Three Island Dock, and then a cab ride from the dock to the airport). The hotel should have at least one golf cart of their own to pick their guests up in. When we were greeted by Marvin at the airport, he looked nice and professional wearing a straw fedora and a periwinkle and pink shirt. It fit right in with the aesthetic of the Bahamas! We were excited to see how cute the hotel would be and assumed these colors would be part of its decor and aesthetic too. We were wrong. No other staff member wore these nice, light, cheery colors. Instead, they all wore depressing dark blue mismatched “uniforms". Most of the time the staff were wearing windbreakers or coats which looked so unprofessional and nobody matched. The beach umbrellas and towels were the only pink things at the hotel. The buildings on the property need help too. The inside of our cottage was nice and all we needed, but the hotel really could’ve used “pink” in the Pink Sands hotel name to decorate more. None of the decor in the buildings matches, feels coordinated, or looks beachy. Additionally, the landscaping is horrendous. The pathways are covered with dirt/sand in several places and the little grass areas they have are died out. Nothing is lush or green looking. The landscaping definitely needs a facelift. The Dunmore has the best vibe/beachy decor/landscaping of the resorts on the island in my opinion and the Pink Sands has a lot of potential to improve this. They should take notes from The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida as well. The fun, Floridian vibe there with palm leaves and pink decor are all throughout the linens, decor, etc. Something else the hotel could work on is friendliness of the staff. There were very few interactions we had with the front desk and wait staff at Blue Bar and Kitchen where we felt like the staff was genuinely caring and kind. The front desk staff was mostly condescending and didn’t seem to care about our complaints and needs (e.g. transfer cost and wait). Additionally, the front desk/concierge weren’t helpful when we wanted to arrange a tour one morning. Multiple staff members told us they would reach out initially to the tour company and then we could continue to email them to set something up. This is a vacation and I should not have to arrange a tour when the concierge should be knowledgeable enough and dedicate the time to do this as it is their job. The front desk also seems very unorganized. They say they will make dinner reservations or other reservations for you and call you to let you know and I’d have to call 2 hours later to find out what the deal is because they still hadn't called me back. The food at the hotel and on the whole island was excellent. And the breakfast/lunch place at the hotel (Blue Bar and Kitchen) has oceanfront dining which is beautiful. The Dunmore does not have this. However, the prices are outrageously expensive and the service is poor. Like I said earlier, the wait staff isn’t friendly and even occasionally give attitude. Each morning of our stay, we were maybe one of 2-3 other tables sitting for breakfast. After ordering, it took what seemed like forever for our food to come. I recommend booking the breakfast package as some of our breakfasts for just 2 people came out to around $90. A side of bacon costs $8 and they give you two little shriveled up pieces (see photo). Ridiculous! Also, the staff at the beach is MIA most of the time. The hut where you get the towels and other beach necessities was empty most of the time and if you wanted beach food service, you had to get up and go find someone to ask for it. I think someone came around with menus once. The Pink Sands has the best beach location (wide area, quiet on one side as there is no other hotel there) and we really appreciated the staff cleaning the seaweed that washed up each night every morning. That was a very nice touch and pretty rare to see at most hotels. They have great lounge chairs and nice plush, large towels as well. There are plenty of chairs and umbrellas for the hotel guests. No need to get up early to run down and secure a chair. Don’t expect to use the pool as it’s nowhere near the beach and is not inviting at all. There was mention that it was going to be refurbished. All in all, this resort is very good. If they work on some simple aesthetic changes and sprucing up the landscaping on the property and provide a refresh by recovering some of the tired and worn upholstery in the common areas like the game room, the hotel could bump the Dunmore out of the top spot IMO.…
They have the best beach spot, but don’t expect much else from the resort. Expect 1-2 hours wait for meals, and food not worth the wait (or price). Rooms could be nice given the location, but don’t expect much frills and sometimes no housekeeping.
We have been going to Pink Sands for many years because it is a great place to unwind on the most beautiful beach in the world. Over the years there have been updates to the rooms but the ambience has never changed. We also want to give a shout out to the staff, always available to render any assistance we needed with a positive and friendly attitude. In particular Ninja's advice, Deandre at the desk, Eulina at the Blue Bar and Candy and Aja at the beach all added to the positive experience.
Excellent experience at Pink Sands! We were visiting for a wedding so didn’t have a chance to stay onsite for dining but villa was fantastic and service was exceptional. Marvin and Dwayne in particular were very helpful, answered all Of our (many, many) questions and have good recommendations. Blue Bar had the best piña colada ever and the beach set up was awesome. Loved that you could use the equipment and we took advantage of the tennis courts. Staff made the trip excellent and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back again!
Property is nice and relaxing. Service and food is very good. Staff helpful in coordinating dinner, etc. Having a closer massage on the beach would be nice. The walk down the beach to see Sophia past the Dunmore was too far. I would see if she could set up closer to PInk/Coral Sands properties.
I have many fond memories of Harbour Island, Bahamas and we have been there several times over the years. We have rented homes on the beach and stayed at resorts. We have never had a bad experience there until this September. I thought I would arrange for a special family vacation on Harbour Island and rented a villa at Pink Sands Resort. It was a little expensive, but I wanted my family to enjoy the trip. When we arrived there was construction all around us. Construction noise every day, even on Sunday morning. I complained to the hotel about the construction and the noise and they practically ignored me. Personally, I will avoid Pink Sands Resort for the rest of my days and I suggest that anyone avoid staying there until the construction is completed.
Exceeded expectations. Thank you, Kym and the great staff at Pink Sands. If you want a luxurious and laid back experience choose Pink Sands! We enjoyed our well appointed yet tasteful ocean view cottage and the private path to beach. We caught the sunrise every morning followed by walk on 3.5mi of powder pink sand, then a great breakfast at the Blue Bar, then....book, beach, & rest for remainder of day., finished by stargazing at night. This is the 2nd year we have visited Pink Sands Resort and both times have had an amazing experience. The staff is so very friendly and accommodating. We lived at the beach for much of our stay. They had staff raking the seaweed off the beach every morning, and beach staff were always checking in to see if we needed anything. We ate at Blue Bar for Brunch and Lunch on many days. The team there gets to know you after a few days and makes you feel like family. The food is delicious and always consistent. We LOVED our cottage. We stayed in an ocean view 2-bedroom and had a huge outdoor patio. The cottage was very spacious and well appointed. Housekeeping service was provided daily along with all the bottled water you need. We also ate at Malcom 51 (the dinner restaurant) twice. The Spiny Lobster Tail w/ Pappardelle was so amazing I ordered it both times! We actually ran in to some guests who were visiting at the same time we were last year and returned for the same reasons we did, it's just a magical place. We have been to many restaurants and popped in to other Hotels while visiting Harbour Island. There is no better service than what you get at Pink Sands.…
Stayed for 3 nights at the Pink Sands in August and highly recommend it. The staff was so friendly and accommodating to all our needs or questions. Hotel has a nice charm about it. Very boutique and quaint. If you are looking for a busy chain hotel type then this is not your place. Harbour Island and the Pink Sands is a boutique style, low key, quaint and peaceful place. We felt we had the whole place to ourselves. The cottages are spread out throughout cobble pathways. A golf cart is definitely needed for your stay to get around resort and the island. The ocean front cottage is perfect. Views are beautiful and you can walk down the sand pathway directly to the beach. The beach is stunning. Crystal blue water and YES THE SAND IS PINK !!! You will see the hues of pink when you are close to the shore and more so early morning and also afternoon. Fill an empty water bottle with the wet sand and take it as a souvenir. The island is full of adventures. We used Conch & Coconut for our golf cart rental and our land tour. They were very professional and helpful. We did 1/2 day land tour and went to Sapphire blue hole, preachers cave, glass bridge, Queens Baths, and Gregory Town. Passed by Pineapple Plantation. Second day we did a full day boat tour and used Da Salty Pig. They were awesome. We went to the sandbar which was full of starfish and sand dollars. Ocean Swings where you can feed the stingrays and swing on the ocean swings while they swim around you. Really cool experience. We visited Pig Island after. Full of swimming pigs that you can pet and feed if you choose. They only come in the water if you want to feed them, otherwise they stay on the beach. Then we went to Spanish Wells for lunch to a beachfront restaurant which was lovely. Next stop was a secluded beach where we snorkeled and found tons of starfish and Sea biscuits. Was so beautiful. Then our last stop was feed and swim with the Green Sea Turtles. What an amazing experience. Highly recommend this excursion. Another fun activity was Master Watersports. They have different ocean water slides, water trampolines, kayaks, tubing and activities for all. When you arrive in Eleuthera, you need to take a water taxi ($5 pp) to Harbour Island. Only way to Harbour is via water taxi. You can request to have a golf cart at the dock waiting for you. The restaurants are all good. Pricey, but that is the case at most islands. We dined at Da Vine & Sushi, The Landing, Queen Conch, Aqua Pazza, Blue Bar, all of which were outstanding. Cruise around the entire town on the golf cart. The town is safe and the locals are very friendly. Visit Romara Bay and Valentines Marina. Valentines is nice to have a drink at the bar and watch all the boats coming in and out, play the ring game, and if you get lucky to watch the fishermen clean their catch and throw the rest in the ocean where sharks are waiting. I have been to many islands before, but this place is special. It was hard to leave the island. Epic vacation with amazing memories. We will be back soon, and definitely stay at Pink Sands Resort again.…
