Detailed Reviews
We drove to Dandeli from Hyderabad, which is around 620 KMs. We took NH9 from Hyderabad and then NH218 to reach Bijapur, which was around half way of our drive. The road condition is good except for the heavy but manageable traffic on NH9.We took a night halt in Bijapur and again started at around 9 in the morning but reached Dandeli (Bison is in Ganeshgudi) only at around 4PM thanks to the 20 KM stretch of NH218, which was under construction, before entering Hubli and a lazy break at Hubli. But over all NH218 is in good shape and hopefully by now the construction work would have finished. There is an option of taking SH56 also, which we didn’t explore.
We planned our trip just 2 days in advance thus almost all the resorts were occupied except Bison. Best thing about Bison resort is its location which is just beside the river basin and you can hear the sounds of rapids from your cottages but all the resorts downstream are near the bank on the river and equally beautiful ,at least from outside.
As we checked in the evening there was nothing much to do except for taking a stroll and swimming in the river. The food offered by the resort was just average and the service was really pathetic. When we asked for some snacks they only had peanuts to offer. I thought these guys are also behaving like my company. There was no ice available in the kitchen fridge. Housekeeping doesn’t even replenish water every day in the rooms. Every time I had to go and ask for the water from the kitchen. Last but not the least, we got muddy water in our bathroom in the morning of the day we were leaving. All this for Rs 5000 per day, which is a handsome amount if you are earning in INR and spending in INR.
Only good part is the option of activities which resort offer. We just had one whole day in Dandeli and wanted to squeeze in whatever we can in one day.
We booked for Rafting at 7 AM and it was really a very nice experience even though the water levels were not that great. White water rafting is must do activity if you are going to Dandeli but fun hugely depends on the amount of water being released from the catchment area of the dam. Make sure that you pack your floaters with you.
Coracle ride and Jacuzzi bath are freebies offered by the resort. Don’t expect much as they are just ways to attract tourist.
In the evening we did some kayaking and came across no. of hornbills, kingfishers and other species of beautiful birds. We even saw a crocodile. I was really mesmerized by the beauty of lush green forest surrounding the river basin.
At night, resort arranged some tribal dance and barbeque, at last!! Something to compensate for the poor service quality.
Next day we started for Hyderabad and here comes the biggest blunder of our trip!!!In order to avoid 20 KMs of NH218, which was under construction, we took NH63 which is heavily used by trucks to transport ore from Bellary to Karwar port. Road from Guntakal to Gooty was really in very bad shape. It took us 17 Hrs to reach Hyderabad:-(.
I would recommend anyone going to Dandeli to keeps at least 2 full days to explore the beauty of this place fully and book your place well in advance. If you are planning to drive then decide on your driving direction after a bit of research and avoid venturing out on unknown road even if the road has fancy name starting with NH:-).
Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Visited Bison River resort in last week of January, we had paid 3K per person. At this price, we would expect decent food and good customer service.
Unfortunately the food provided was the worst we had eaten, the buffet didn't have much option, they only had a total of 4 dishes (including chapathi, rice). If we order any starters, it would come to our room after couple of hours and no one even bothered to in spite of repeated complaints.
The place was also very crowded and we couldn't get to do most of the activities.
If you are visiting Dandeli, please try to book in Jungle lodges(Old Magazine house) which is cheaper and better.
This place is only worth 2K per person at the max.
The only positive point about Bison is that it has a great Location.

Worst place to stay. resort charging boom, agents in between minting money and they are not aware of property condition. dirty smelling room. we checked out 5-6 rooms. all top to worst one on other. very basic food. activities are horrible. they tackle outside guest (not staying in resort) first. and resort guest have to wait for hours. they staff are always full of gutkas in mouth all the time. office stay very arrogant. our booking was for 2 nights. we cut down to 1 nights and second night we stayed at nearby homestay which was more clean decent and appropriate than Bison river. never to this place ever again..... Property full of plastic bottles, tissue papers not even at free cost.

I have been to many resorts but i had the worst experience in this resort. Not worth paying more than 1000/per person. Room service is worst and no proper response from the management. Rooms are not well maintained. A/C sounds like generator. Food quality is bad few items were not cooked properly like rice was half boiled, Chapathi was very hard. So overall food quality was bad. The activities was unorganized. The resort management is only looking for money making, that's why they will tell us to pay everything in advance for activities and other stuffs. One more worst part was for water activities no proper safety measures and equipment is taken care. Few guides who helps us in rafting and other water activities were "drunk". So overall we had worst experience and my suggestion is don't visit this resort ever.

The people handling the water events are very rude. I was insulted in front of everyone on the basis of my background and the higher officials were of no use in helping me out. Instead of paying the money and reaching the resort on time, I was harassed in front of everyone for no reason. I would suggest no one to visit this resort unless you want to ruin the trip.

Our recent stay at Bison River resort was far from what we expected. Unfortunately, the resort was under maintenance, which significantly impacted the quality of our stay. The food served caused severe stomach infections, leaving all our family members unwell even after we were back from our vacation. Additionally, the room was poorly maintained, with bugs and even rats spotted.
This experience was extremely unpleasant, and I would strongly recommend that the management look into this.

Drove to Bison River Resort from Mumbai. The resort is beautifully located besides the river but very badly managed. could do with some landscaping. Cleanliness is pathetic. We reached the resort by 4.30pm. We were just offered tea and biscuits after the long drive considereing that u get nothing around. When asked for something more were give bread butter and jam. The rooms allocated were very bad. The bathroom stinked and the shower curtain gave me goosebumbs when i went for a bath. Atleast they can change the shower curtains, it doesn't cost the earth. There was no hot water for bath after a long journey. The barbaque was ok hardly andything for vegetarians - only bahjia's. The dinner was OK. In the night the rooms were rather hot, bedsheets not very clean. Could not sleep well in the night.
Next morning went for a boat ride and the natural Jacuzzi, but on returning again no hot water for bath. Reprimanded the resort manager about the state of rooms and asked for a change of rooms. Finally mamaged to get hot water by their primitive method of heating water. Went to the caves mid-morning. Yet no new rooms allocated. Again had to contact the resort manager after lunch. Were finally given 2 rooms at the other part of the resort whic h werelittle better but again filthy shower curtains which i pointed to the staff.
Next morning we were to go on the wildlife safari at 4.30am . Woke the kids at 4.00 am and were ready by 4.30am, but no sign of the guide. Went to the reception area it was deserted, no sign of any one around. Call the resort manager and was told WE HAD CANCELLED the trip. So i mustbe crazy in the head to wake up at 4.00 am and be ready after cancelling the trip. Could not sleep after that. Both nights were bad. In the morning breakfast was sereved late the dining area was not even cleaned after dinner last night. food and bones of previous night still lying around. Had a show down with the resort manager. Considereing the resort is located in the jungle there are no staff around in the night, what happend in case of an emergency.
Only positive part of the trip was the white water river rafting- a must try -because it is not managed by the resort i guess. Left for Goa after lunch
We did not expect luxury of a five star hotel but basic cleanliness and a attentive staff will do.

We stayed here for 2 night, and had the best time ever spent at any other wildlife destination ever. The cottages are just awesome to stay in, much better than what they look in photographs. Also, the food was great and the staff is really friendly and helpful. Their property is wonderful, right besides the river Kali. Would definitely recommend this place though. As the title of the review says, this place enhances your souls.
P.S.: Don't miss out on doing a coracle ride in the evenings. You see the best species of birds around the banks while in the coracle.

We were a group of 19 people with 8 girls amongst us. We were actually staying in nature nest resort and they had a package deal for water activities with bison resort. After we finished our water based activities we were led to the natural jaquzzi there when the entire group was drenched from head to toe and were playing in the water one of the guides began to secretly capture the girls on his cell, we noticed it and shouted at that fellow but he denied shooting the video, v took his phone forcibly and saw the video. We went and complained to the manager, he simply asked the guide to get out. We were aghast at his attitude, we took the snaps of all the guides and refused to give the cell in question. The police were called in and as usual the SI came to make some easy money instead of solving the issue. Since v were non locals v were at a great disadvantage and as the incident involved ladies v did not want to file a formal complaint. Neither the manager nor the police were of little help to us. So unless u want videos of the women you know floating on the net, please avoid going to this resort. Its not worth anything

if i remember correctly, it was patchy,
I'm afraid that as it was part of a package I can't answer your question. Whatever the cost, we have many fond memories of the place.
Price would be between Rs.20,000/- to Rs.25,000/- for the description you have given. It is a total waste of your hard earned money as the place is not at all worth it.
Dear Ms. Divya,
Thank you for your intrest at our Bison River Resort - Dandeli.
I would suggest you to extend your stay for 3 Days & 2 Nights to enjoy activities ( As we have 30 to 35 activities)
Awaiting your reply.
