Verdy nice atmosphere from exposed stone walls and roaring log fire gave a lovely ambience to East Lothian 's newest eatery. This historic 14th century tower and later additions was home to the late Queen Mother's sister-Lady Elphinstone and was a childhood holiday venue for the Queen and Princess !Margaret. The extensive wooded grounds are truly lovely. Nice menu, fairly...

Stayed here for one night. Had been here as a child when the house was used as a retreat. When we seen it was now a hotel we couldn't resist a trip down memory lane and we weren't disappointed. The house is beautiful and the staff were all very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The food in the...

Staff was fantastic, fun and seemed to really enjoy working with our large group. The grounds are beautiful with lots to explore and the location is ideal for day trips into Edinburgh or access to the "golf coast".

We were fortunate enough to spend our Thanksgiving holiday here for 4 nights and had the most incredible time! We were a part of a very large party (20+) staying at the Tower and the staff went above and beyond to make sure that we were having a wonderful time and were comfortable. A special thank you to Marjory who...

We stayed here for one night, and having arrived early were able to check in immediately. Staff were all very pleasant and professional. Our room was a classic and very small but had everything you need except a reading lamp only on one side of the bed. The only downside about the whole stay was the bed, which was hard....

Wanted to find a lovely hotel with a bit of history to it as we were having family over to visit from the USA. Could not have chosen a better place as it was beautiful. We arrived to a lovely friendly welcome and a real log fire at reception and were checked in quickly and efficiently. Our rooms were fine...

I stayed at Carberry Tower while visiting Edinburgh since it is a few miles away by car or short rain ride from the nearby Wallyford Station. Carberry is impressive from the gated entrance with the avenue of Giant Sequoias, which lead to the main house and gardens. I booked three nights and stayed in one of the named rooms on...

I finished work early and was able to check in early. The hotel is well signposted and has plenty of parking. Check in was superb, very helpful and welcoming. My room was very pleasant with a desk to work at, plenty of sockets and good wifi. It also had the best kettle I have seen - almost silent! The hotel...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Carberry Tower Mansion House and Estate is a place of intimate grandeur. And to arrive here is to weave your own journey into a story that goes back to 1480 when our first foundation stone was laid. Since then, we have been a gathering place for Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses and over the centuries the great and the good have also come to warm themselves by our fires and feast from our banqueting tables. And today, more strongly than ever, the banner that reigns over Carberry Tower continues to reflect the matchless values of excellence, abundance and grace - coupled together of course, with the very warmest of Scottish hospitality. Guests can dine in the Rose Garden Restaurant and enjoy a four course menu designed by Head Chef, commencing with canapes and a welcome drinks reception. Private dining for 2 or banquets can also be arranged. ... more   less
