The welcome when we arrived was as cold as the pub itself. Had it not been for the fact we were waiting for more family to arrive, we would have left before ordering our meals. The radiators were not turned on and given the size of the place this would have been nice as the wood burner was not stoked... More

Our last visit here was maybe 5 years since this one. The last visit was a dismal experience and obviously did not get repeated for ages. Time moves on and no doubt the Inn has exchanged owners many times. We took the dog for a walk down to Beachley Point and was pleasantly surprised to find the Inn was pet... More

I'm sorry to have to report a similar experience to what a reviewer wrote in August. It was my birthday yesterday and we went for a meal, which in itself was ok but there was no Real Ale on and the Landlady's attitude was one of "take it or leave it". The Guinness I had was flat, and the pepsi... More

We recently took friends for a lunch and were embarrassed by the way we were treated. The man behind the bar could not be bothered to serve us and was very rude and abrupt. The food was not good and very expensive for what we had. The only good thing about the place is the setting and we definitely won't... More

Come here often for food. Great food! Big portions and very reasonable prices. Very welcoming atmosphere. If you can get a table by the log burner it's so lovely and warm in the winter I could sit for hours. Great views of the river and bridge. Staff helpful and friendly. Atmosphere is cosy and homely. Nothing is too much trouble.

Stayed two nights at this relaxed and friendly hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Food in the restaurant was excellent and variations to the published menu caused no problem at all. Bar served a great pint of real ale. This is a dog friendly hotel and our dog was welcom in all areas. Ideally situated for the beautiful countryside of... More

In early 2015 I was returning from Devon to the Midlands via the M5. Traffic was appalling so we decided to cross over into Chepstow and return via a pretty Route. Whilst on the M48 suspension bridge I happened to see the Beachley peninsula and when i returned home I google mapped it. The old ferry inn was indicated and... More

Went there for lunch on Saturday. First time eating there since this time last year, as it is 12 miles from home. It has recently had new owners, and you can see they are trying to improve the place. Obviously as it is summer, they have concentrated on the garden which overlooks the Severn, the old ferry slipway and the... More

Had a Birthday celebration lunch in the Old Ferry restaurant, there were only two tables occupied and the service was appalling, too slow and the food was overcooked. Two of our party had the Trout from the specials menu, the trout was not thoroughly cleaned and was overcooked. In all a disappointing meal and we shan't be repeating the experience.
