Detailed Reviews
Not giving 3 stars because it is a beautiful place and deserves its credit. Would’ve given 5 if things went smoother.
Just came back from the weekend for my bachelorette party with 7 other girls. The hotel is beautiful I didn’t find it to be run down or dirty like some other people have said. Everything is expensive but we were prepared to spend money. (Don’t come here if you don’t want to spend on vacation stay at an all inclusive) it is a cashless hotel so you must charge to the room and settle at the end.
Food was great, every staff member we came in contact with were friendly and helpful. BUT Communication and their system is awful. We had one room that was a 2 bedroom residence, gorgeous but the shower smelt like sewage. The other room was a 3 bedroom residence on the 14th floor which was “the best room in the hotel” according to every staff member. It was gorgeous and clean. One toilet did run for a while, one shower did flood when using it, two TVs didn’t work neither did our safes. Ok minor issues, no big deal.
Our plan was make charges to one room and we’ll split evenly in the end But one day at the beach we were told we couldn’t charge to the room that we’ve run out of credit?! We go to the desk being told that there’s a max limit on charging to the room we were never told about. We had to authorize A credit card for more. Done. We go up to the room to find our keys aren’t working, we couldn’t get into the room. There were two doors we could get into and one was left OPEN!!! And a phone on one of the counters. Now this is a problem! 4 women staying alone with money left in the room, expensive bags our passports, our SAFETY! Huge issue! The maid walks in and seems to have left her phone we make her aware that she clearly left the door opened the lock was pushed out it wasn’t like the door didn’t shut properly. She apologized and assure us she was the last person in there. So we go down and tell management about this, spoke to Alvin and told him all of the issues. He said he’d speak to his team and get back to us. What did they do for us?! Nothing!! They offered to give us a bottle of vodka which we already received from friends back home. It was our last night there’s no way we were finishing that in one night. At least offer us a discount at dinner or money off our bill, something! This weekend we spent about 10k between the room cost and food and beverage bill. For that price we should’ve been given some thing for our inconveniences. Or at least been given shuttle service considering we had the best rooms in the house! A little disappointed in the way things were handled. I would love to give them another shot because the place is beautiful, Carna was amazing, we had a great time at Bond and Privlege Pool, Filia was okay not many options for dinner. But other than the issue with money and our door being left open it is a beautiful place they need to work out the kinks

The Grand Hyatt seemed a little too family and the Rosewood too "couples" for what my family was looking for, which was something in between, so we decided on the SLS because of the vibe and its' central location. We could not have been happier. Everything is right there! We were a few floors away from the casino and all the restaurants. We experienced the best guest services we have ever had at a hotel. Everyone, from the lifeguards, the housekeepers to the restaurant servers were always greeting us and were super friendly. The SLS is clean, modern and quiet when you need it to be somehow because the jazz club and lobby are perfect when you want to experience a little energy. Privilege is pretty nuts, but they close at 6pm so if the music is not to your liking, it doesn't matter. We had a small issue our last night and discussed it with Fred Paul, the manager on duty at the time and he couldn't have been more professional and kind. He represents the hallmark of SLS - Service, Luxury and Style. That's exactly what you get when you are there. I was with my teenage sons and young adult nieces and nephews plus us adults and we had the best vacation. I'd say the service and the food stood out the most. It is a little pricey for meals, but you won't be disappointed. The food was some of the freshest and most delicious cuisine I had ever eaten. There are options for everyone. We had sushi, Italian, greek, you name it and we couldn't really say anything about the price because we enjoyed every bite. One night my husband didn't realize there would be fennel in his dish and he let the waiter at Filia know and she did not hesitate to ask what else he would like to eat. He asked for the gnocchi and she removed his linguine and brought the gnocchi without question. I can't wait to go back next year and a special thank you to Fred Paul for his exemplary attention to his guests. There are so many pools and the water park is great for kids and adults. So many little hidden treasures like the food trucks and food/daiquiri/souvenir shops along the resort paths. WE LOVED IT!!!!

My husband and I got away for a quick getaway without the kids. The lobby is beautiful.
Covid rapid tests as you get into hotel are super easy, painless, and convenient. You just wait in your room until you get an email with negative test within 15 min during check in.
Katsuya for dinner was delicious.
Cleo Mediterranean was very good as well.
The room: our room wasn’t cleaned or restocked towels until we called them.
On day 2 or 3 I stopped a cleaning lady in the hallway to ask for our room to be cleaned.
They didn’t restock shampoo/conditioner.
That was annoying because when I wanted to get ready for before dinner- no shampoo.
We called downstairs/ no one picked up. I sent my husband down to pick some up.
They said they would bring to us...20 min later they come with shower gel!
Not shampoo...then they went back to bring some up.
So room cleaning and cleaning crew needs work!
Beach: beautiful and very clean.
Staff at beach and pools are great. Sls adult pool is beautiful and lounge chairs are really comfortable. Get the tuna tostada at the pool! Omg- so good!
There is a cool fish sanctuary on property where you can see staff feed sharks, sea turtles, and rays. That was really cool.
Also they have a poke bowl place near the sanctuary that had yummy ahi bowls.
And next to it is a smoothie place which was great.
Spa: my husband and I did couples massages which was great. And fitness center is very nice and big.
Also: warning the SLS bathroom in room is sea-through. Showers that’s fine but the actual toilet room is too. So that’s probably not cute for new couples lol.

This past weekend I stayed at the SLS for my cousins bachelorette weekend. Upon walking into the hotel, we were greeted by friendly doormen who stored our bags until the rest of our party arrived. We were in awe of the beautiful lobby when we walked in. Overall, the amenities at the SLS were great. The pools, the casino, the beach access was amazing. The rooms were nice and clean when we arrived.
We stayed at the SLS for 3 nights and had housekeeping come once. We constantly had to call down for shower towels and since we had dinner reservations at a certain time and assumed we'd come back to the room to made beds and fresh towels, you can understand why we'd be pressed for time to get 4 girls showered and ready for dinner. The front desk took their time to get us towels and we even had to call multiple times as the wait for towels exceeded 20 minutes.
The rooms were overlooking a construction site. On Friday morning, the construction workers started blasting music at 6:30am. Frustrated, my cousins and I complained to reception and they basically brushed us off by saying "you're here all weekend and they don't do construction on the weekends".
Overall, the service at this hotel was garbage. It took a ridiculous amount of time to get drinks at Monkey bar (the bar in the lobby) and the bartenders didn't care and simply gave us attitude when we tried to get their attention. We had pretty good service at 2/3 of the hotel restaurants that we ate at and the pool staff were really nice. All the food at this hotel was delicious but ridiculously overpriced.
Another thing we didn't enjoy were the bathrooms in the rooms. There was a curtain instead of a bathroom door and we had absolutely no privacy because of this. This is the kind of bathroom you would give to a married couple, not to a room full of 4 people.
Finally, this morning came time for checkout. 6 out of 9 people (2 out of 3 rooms) in our party headed to the airport at 9am while the rest of us were planning on leaving at noon. For the 9am departure, reception scheduled a 9am shuttle. We asked for that time specifically as we wanted to have enough time to say goodbye to our family and friends who live all across the US and who we do not see very often. As they went downstairs at 8:40 to get coffee before the shuttle, they were told to immediately get on the shuttle as it was leaving then and there. For our 12:00 shuttle, they told us to be downstairs and ready at 11:50 (they also wouldn't let us checkout one minute past 11am. I refused to believe they did housekeeping on our room at exactly 11am). At 12:20 there was still no shuttle so the men at the taxi stand ordered us of taxi, luckily free of charge (since we were supposed to have a free shuttle).
Overall, I enjoyed my weekend at the SLS, aside for the below average service I received. Doubtful I'd stay here again or recommend this place to others.

Came with a girlfriend and we were both very excited about this trip but leaving disappointed.
The hotel is not truly 5 star, service is soso and things are just ridiculously overpriced. We had to ask for things (like extra bottles of water or have housekeeping clean room) multiple times and some were not even done or provided and we eventually just gave up asking. The whole place is more of a Vegas vibe which we weren’t really fond of, I woulda gone to Vegas I’d that’s what I wanted. There’s a $60 resort fee so take that into account when budgeting.
Def won’t be coming back to this part of the Bahamas and most certainly not to this hotel.

I stayed here with my family and checked in on December 30th, 2019 for 3 nights. We had a 2 room suite on the 12th floor number 1200. Our room was clean, neat, and tidy upon check in and it was exactly what we wanted. I should note that we stayed here over the holidays a year ago. The hotel itself is very cool, nice and modern.
This resort has many service issues including food service issues. Our biggest problem on this stay was our room was right next door to a women who had rented the room next to us for a month and she had 3 large breed dogs in her room. The dogs would howl, cry, and bark during the day and night. I did go to the front desk and complained to a younger man who said he was the manager and I explained him the problem. He looked at me like I was the crazy one and said that the women in the room next door had rented the room for a month and the hotel is pet friendly and there is really nothing they could do other than call her and tell her to keep the animals quiet. HOW dare this man to look at me like I was crazy and blow me off when I paying $1300 a night for a room. And BLOW me off is exactly what he did and he could care less. Well you know what next year they can kiss my hind quarter and we will go to Atlantis. I work too hard for my money for some young punk manager to play me like I am fool. He offered absolutely nothing to make it right and I was not the only one. Others complained too only to get blown off too. This is just not right especially when my tab for 3 days was $5000. Every pet friendly hotel has restrictions on the size, breed, and number of animals in a room but not here.
I can tell you the food quality at this entire resort is better than Atlantis but the restaurants all have service issues. Its impossible to dine in one of these restaurants without a reservation and even if you do have a reservation you still may wait an hour or more for a table.
We stayed a week at Atlantis prior to our arrival on the 30th and we should have just stayed there. Its not as new as SLS but they treat you right. Next year we wont be back.

In the true Bahamian spirit I have relished my 8 day stay at this amazing resort and on this incredibly beautiful island. What has made it so special are the employees—especially Alvin who soaks in everything you say and adds special little touches to make you feel like the most important VIP on this stunning property. I am here with my bestie (childhood friend) celebrating our 29++ birthdays.
Lets talk about the positives—every employee we’ve encountered has been cheerful and helpful. You can tell they really love their jobs. Trevor and Chris on the beach always have our chairs and umbrellas waiting for us and do “shade patrol” regularly. Our room (2 bedroom w kitchen and 3 balconies) is spectacular. Cleaning does a great job each day and leaves a ton of free water for us. The grounds and hotel are pristine. Since we are here during Covid, they take all precautions to keep their guests safe. The pools, chairs and umbrellas are plentiful. The water park rivals Atlantis. I have stayed at both properties—trust me, this one eclipses Atlantis in my view. The casino and plentiful bars (some with live music and rooftop views) offer an island full of variety on the complex. The casino serves complimentary basic drinks if you find my lucky machine and gamble. ;)
Now the negatives—the food and drinks can be pricey —plan on $200 per day pp (adults) if you have a couple cocktails and if you don’t venture out. Meals are big enough to share and snacks can be meals. You don’t get the true island vibe if you don’t do a little off property. I have been coming to Nassau for years and have never been in an unsafe situation. If you look for trouble you will find it but they do appreciate that tourism is their livelihood and treat visitors as such. I recommend a night or two at the fish fry (get there around 630). O’Andres is the best and if you like gin then the sky juice is unrivaled!! You can do dinner and drinks around $25 per person. dinner or lunch at Compass point (there’s no better sunset views) and about the same price, rent a car and take in Lyford Cay, West side, Albany House and more. Better yet, hire Nathanael to take you around for a day (local vibes) +1 (242) 467-2543. His prices are extremely reasonable and he knows the secret places (car can accommodate 4) for $225 all day.
Net net—the Bahamas are a magical place, the Bahamian people help add to the magic and the SLS Baha Mar makes the trip 5 stars! Highly recommend.
SLS ownes by SBE. Very disappointing. 17 of us booked well in advance 9f our late February reservation for a long weekend bachelorette celebration. The issues began at check 7n and only went down hill from the. I gave stayed 7n many high end resorts around the world. This is not one of them. The libby is impressive , the rooms not so much. Prefab shower, tacky cheap odd furnishings with platform veds, 2 tiny drawers and a hodge pidgeon of incongruous furniture. Our dining reservations were not honored even though we presented their email confirmations. No concessions offered. I recommend making another choice

This hotel is great with a group or family because of all the amenities. Overall good stay, room is nice, resort is nice.
You have to call down and ask them to clean your room daily or they won’t (even though you put the sign on the door and they’re cleaning right by it). I think our biggest complaint is they gauge you wherever they can. They tried to charge us $12.50 to bring up hot water and coffee cups (but we didn’t have coffee cups in our room). $12.50 for hot water?! I’ve stayed at hotels all around the world and never has a hotel tried to charge for hot water and a coffee mug…
They tried to charge us for multiple items in the mini fridge as we removed items to keep a few things cold. Supposedly there is a tracker when you take anything out..okay so why did no one tell us that?
Just make sure you review your bill when checking out as we had multiple charges we shouldn’t have.
Lots of dining options on the resort, all are good but for the price I’ve had way better food.
Note the wifi was horrible. We came for an extended time as we planned to work from here but the wifi made it very tough as it constantly cuts in and out.
We probably wouldn’t come back here unless with a group or kids for the Waterpark. This is more personal preference as the hotel wasn’t our vibe and the gauging was too much but I don’t take away that it’s a great hotel and lots to do. If you’re not bothered by over spending and want a busy place, this is a great option.

Wonderful place with as many amenities as shortcomings. Water park is the best perk as it is within the property and you can come in and out as you please. Lines are short and rides are great. Though as far as hotel services m, staff is untrained, meals take 30 minutes to get served and it’s ok to adapt to the Caribbean rhythm but this has an extra touch.
Guest services number is NEVER answered, impossible to ask questions. Need to walk down to reception and be in a 10-20 minute line for minor arrangements. Although guest services doesn’t answer they did call us twice to rush us out of our room after they had given us a late check out. So are they really swamped as they say?
Where you need to be careful is that you should expect about a 40% extra in taxes and fees on top of your booking rate, so be prepared.
Best restaurant we tried is Carna and make your reservations with time in advance for all of them since they close restaurants to alternate days when they have them full. So while you won’t be able to get a reservation there will be one or two restaurants closed that night.
In general a great location, quite pricey, service is questionable but kids love it.

The Bungalow Pool is at the SLS and I didn't see anyone going around to check wristbands I did see them not give any towels out to people without a pink wristband.
As far as the Privilege Pool at SLS it is adults only and I think you have to rent a cabana or lounge chair but not sure. When we were there it was suppose to be closed, just open on weekends, but we did see some people in there.
Drinks are not free!
Late check out available day before ! But be careful if you late they will charge you !
There are definitely resort fees but it included room cleaning and use of the facilities. It is per room per day for the resort fees. Try finding a site that includes the resort fees if possible.
I am unsure about the 10-day break room cleaning fees, but if you call the hotel they will be very helpful!
There are really no stores close by other than what is contained within the resort. There’s very little practical items found inside the resort Baha Mar.
