Detailed Reviews
Hotel: Rooms are beautifully designed, clean and spacious. Our view was of the Lyford Cay marina and we felt privacy was superb. Pool was good length and never felt overcrowded even though hotel was full. 5/5
Food: Perhaps the best food on the island we’ve had. The Thai menu was spot on (I’ve spent much time in Asia and I felt I was transported back every time I had a dish - well done chef!), perfected in creation and taste. Breakfast, lunch and dinner flawless not to mention the drinks. 5/5
Service: This is where I feel we were let down. Checking in the guy at reception was totally clueless of opening times for the restaurants and took 20 mins to perform a very basic task of locating the reservation and giving us the key.
Food service to the room was very quick but never consistent in items delivered. For example we often had side plates for main dishes and missing spoons and napkins. Staff would apologise and fix the mistake but next day same would occur.
At poolside staff would forget basic items requested (additional plate or glass etc)
Success in service is based on consistency and here I think improvements are needed. All it takes is for the staff to keep a small notebook on them and write what one asks and deliver without being reminded. Waiter delivering food should do second check on what guest ordered and check if he/she has the right items (I.e if soup ordered on the food order print out have I included a bowl? If there is a dessert is dessert spoon included?). Finally I didn’t find the staff particularly friendly (seldom did one say hello etc) 3/5
Overall I would highly recommend this place for a quite getaway, full of amazing food, delightful rooms and peace! I will definitely be coming back...I just hope the service is fine tuned.

We cannot say enough nice things about this property and the people.
James (the GM) and the entire staff (shout out to our buddy Terrence!) worked tirelessly to make sure our stay was as good as possible despite all the COVID-related frustrations. The property is beautiful, the accommodations luxurious, and the on-site features really make your stay.
They went above and beyond to find ways to take care of us while following the government's COVID health protocols, which often was a struggle yet they did their best. When something went wrong, most of the time not even something under their control, they were always there to help us fix it. And they found a way to add that extra little touch that we've found sets apart the truly special properties we've stayed at around the world.
We were hesitant to stay here because of it's location on the west side of the island, away from downtown and many of the activities. That added a little bit of a logistical hurdle, especially with the cost of taxi fares in The Bahamas, but it was absolutely worth it to stay here...we would do it again in a heartbeat (and will the next time we're on the island!)
Thanks again, James & team!

We came to The Island House for a girls weekend to celebrate one of our birthdays with high expectations and were not disappointed. The Island House is a hidden gem on the western side of New Providence nestled between 2 of the most elegant neighborhoods, Lyford Cay and Old Fort Bay. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the staff and made to feel at home. The hotel is understated and super elegant with a contemporary feel from the Dedon Furniture on the terrace to the gorgeous spa like bathrooms with freestanding tubs and the Bamford Spa, the infinity pool is enormous. The service was second to none, the food excellent in both Mahogany House and Shima. The cocktails even better!
They have an arrangement with the beach club at the Old Fort Bay Club and will take you there in the hotel English taxi. This is not to be missed - we had a fantastic day ! James we congratulate you and your team, don’t change anything!!! We are looking at dates to come back.

My fiancé and I came down for 4 nights to get away from the cold in the Northeast and stayed in the Marina View room. We ended up on the second floor and I would barely call our view “marina” with just a tiny sliver of water / which is unfortunate because we paid extra for the view. Otherwise the room was spacious, clean and well appointed (the pillows could use some upgrading). The room also lacked a few basic amenities (no mini bar or even a fridge to keep leftovers from the wine/cheese shop.
The property is beautiful, clean and well kept. However, the crowd is a bit stuffy and the service slow and unfriendly. For a couple looking for some fun in the sun, this didn’t really feel like a vacation resort but more of a business hotel - any expedition / boat
From paradise island is 40 min away. The access to Old Fort Bay beach is nice and the beach is beautiful , however we felt like second rate customers as the servers essentially ignored us on the beach.
Lastly, the highly touted bamford spa failed to impress. We booked a couples massage and there were no stream rooms, saunas, hot tubs etc, just a massage room.
Overall it is a very nice property but missed the mark on service and perhaps we were at the wrong place for what we were looking for.

This was our first trip away without our young kids. We love the Bahamas and were looking for quiet, super chill and great food. The Island House couldn’t have been more perfect and exceeded all of our expectations.
The resort only has 30 rooms so even when at capacity, it is quiet and tranquil. Our first day we longed by the pool (which is beautiful - see picture) and throughout the day there were only 4-6 other people at the pool.
The second day we took the shuttle to the private beach. It is located at a private beach club that has some great history and ambiance. The beach was beyond stunning and reminded us why we love the Bahamas so much. The private beach is quite large and again, there were maybe 10 people in the beach. There is a little bar and food truck at the beach that serves cocktails, beers and simple food. Perfect for what you need.
There are 3 main restaurants at the Island House and a great little cocktail bar. All excellent.
The rooms are stunning. Spacious, elegant and quiet.
There is a really cool movie theatre on the property that shows new movies. The seating consists of lounge chairs and bean bag chairs. It was a great thing to do after a great dinner.
The service is the best we’ve had in all our trips to the Bahamas (which is always generally really good). The staff were incredibly friendly, courteous and very helpful. Again, best service we’ve ever had in our travels.
My wife and I both agreed, “this is our new favourite spot.” We are already planning our next trip.
Thank you Island House! Life has been hectic this past few years raising our children. This was EXACTLY what we needed. Thank you for a truly great experience.
Cheers!

The hotel and its grounds are magnificent. Rooms are stunning.
The staff are friendly and efficient. At the weekends when they get lots of local residents visiting it can be a little slower service in the bar area.
The hotel is used by lots of residents so make sure you book in any of the restaurants to be assured of a table.
Pool area is lovely never once too crowded whilst we were there. Clean and plenty of towels.
Don’t be put off by the lack of beachfront location, the beach club they are affiliated with is fab and the actual beach one of the best we have ever been on. You can walk up to 50 metres off the beach in the water. It’s simply stunning. You can’t access any other areas other than this one Beach.
The transport is frequent to the beach 10 minutes at most.
The only downside for us was the lack of ability to walk anywhere locally. All the surrounding beaches are restricted access for the communities in the area, which is disappointing give that they are so close by. Certainly puts us off going back to the area. Despite the hotel being simply amazing.
The nearest public beach by transport doesn’t get great reviews.

The Island House is an absolutely wonderful place. Where to begin? The staff are simply excellent, some of the most courteous people we have ever met! James, the general
manager, was frequently checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed; he made us feel more like family than hotel guests. Shima, the Asian restaurant, was some of the best food we had ever had. The hotel is wonderfully apportioned and has lovely rooms and villas—all for extremely reasonable rates. The beaches are just a 5 min ride away in the hotel’s own version of a taxi—a Land Rover Defender (very cool touch). Avoid the hustle and “all inclusiveness” of Paradise Island and stay at the Island House. You won’t be disappointed!

We stayed here ahead of the pandemic and we were very satisfied. Very conveniently located about 15 minutes from the airport. The best part of this hotel is the access to the Old Fort Bay Club private beach. I have stayed at the Ocean club several times and I think the beach at Old Fort Bay is much nicer. The restaurants at the island house are pricey but very good food. We also enjoyed the movie theatre on our stay. The pool at the island house is nice but I would recommend going to the beach as much as possible while staying there but just be sure to arrange the shuttle ahead of time and know the hours it runs in advance. We got stuck at old fort bay for a while after we were not told the shuttle stopped at 5pm, which was before sunset at the time.

I cannot fault this hotel. We found the staff to be constantly friendly and attentive.
There is no dining room as such within the hotel but there are three restaurants.
Yellowbell cocktail and bites bar offers a good choice of breakfasts and cocktails. In the evening an excellent bites menu is curated by the chef at Shima . Ideal after a day at the beach if you don’t want a large meal.
Shima , the Thai restaurant,is situated on the top floor of the hotel with very good food and very good views.
Mogano , the Italian restaurant, is a short walk at the bottom of the drive, pizzas are available for room service.
The highlight of this visit is the private Fort Bay beach club. This is available to hotel guests. You order a London taxi courtesy car at the front desk. This usually takes 15 minutes to arrive and is a short drive away .
On arrival you collect your free beach towels, then a few yards walk to the beach where we were taken to
free sun beds with an umbrella a few yards from the sea .
You can eat under shade at the bar or have anything brought to you by the staff who were very attentive.

You pay for absolutely everything at the Island House, nothing is free! Use of the pool, toiletries, even the water in your room is covered by a daily resort charge on top of your room rate! Everything has service and vat added, no matter what the service is like and trust me, you need to be verrrrry patient whenever you order anything!
The location is secluded which suited us as we wanted to avoid the large resorts, but prepare to feel like you are at a private members club, surrounded by business people on their laptops and phones and wealthy locals who use the hotel as a “club”. Sometimes, we almost felt like intruders!
The yoga classes were great and the spa exceptional.
I have to give a special mention to Harry, one of the servers. He, unlike most of the young team, greeted us every day with a smile, nothing was too much trouble, he didn’t hang around to be tipped (as many did) and his customer service skills were exceptional. If the hotel management read their reviews I would highly recommend giving Harry a chance to do great things. He should be head of customer service and train the other team members to be just like him. He’s an asset to the hotel and I hope the management team appreciate that.
I would also recommend Shima, the Thai restaurant and bar on the upper floor of the hotel. The staff here were exceptional, led by a true connoisseur of hospitality, Nabil Dhiab. In his absence, his asst manager, Tallal Brown was equally impressive! All the bar staff were fab, you can see that Nabil runs a great operation and is respected by his team, always busy, always smiling and nothing was too much - a great run bar.
A nice addition too was the small cinema that looked great but we didnt get a chance to use it. The films were all current blockbusters.
All in all a nice week but the hotel is expensive and lacks personality. It’s the little things that make a difference; a chocolate on the pillow at night, some nuts and olives when you order a drink, the manager being more visible, chatting to guests.
The Island House needs to work out what it is, a hotel or a private members club!

It did when we were there but we were told it was about to change!
Can’t help you there. Didn’t hit the spa.
Not heated but the pool is warm. No adult pool. Hit the beach.
Same here, any tips on going there with a 2 year old?
