Isabelle and Ron have been running the Towne Hotel (e silent) for 60 years as of this post. They are old school professionals, and compared to many of the other hotels in the area a great value in my opinion. The have old school touches, like fresh baked carrot cake and apple pie every day. Simple complementary breakfast. Door security and key check 24-7. They have an in house bar and resturant, with both familiar, and native dishes. One of the better places to eat for a sensitive stomache, and better priced than the cruise boat area joints.
Yes the beds and bathrooms could use improvement. The beds move around on rollers. The bathroom tile are cracked in places, fixtures corroded out. Overall construction must be 50 years old at least, leaning on the small side. However, the location is ideal...away from tourists but a block from the Pirate Museum and GrayCliff Chocolater/Hotel/Resturant. The Wifi was improved by adding 5 different addresses throughout the hotel.
Both the service and wifi are a little slow at times, but you should not be rushing anyway. Meet a lot of guests in the common courtyard if you want. Tread water in the unheated pool. Say "hello" to Max the Parrot.

This old building suffers from lack of Maintence. Dingy sheets, sporadic hot water and a broken TV were what we experienced during our 2 nights in 2 different rooms. The most obnoxious was the pounding music from a club next door that went on until 3am. The windows in the room were rusted in the open position. No sleep at all. The front desk said they don’t guarantee sound proof windows...
The bar tender was a great guy. WiFi is available.

Could pay a bit more for much nicer or an inclusive place, but Towne is in prime location.
Firstly I was informed and noticed that there are certain locals who operate business out of this location.
The website and listings shout sound proof rooms, this is far from the case, light is visible around the doorframe and they are far from sound proof. Noises from the kitchen drifted into the rooms on the second floor. Noises from outside, above excessive.

Pros: Great location close to the Bay Street strip of stores; Good coffee and orange juice for breakfast; Comfortable bed

Cons: AC didn't work! Toilet didn't work! TV remote didn't work! After notifying the front desk of these things, each issue was fixed but these things shouldn't be broken in the first place. The water pressure was weak so taking a shower after being out on the beach is just so inadequate that you feel disappointed. Despite the front desk stating a taxi is always out front, this is NOT TRUE!!! Therefore, be sure to give yourself sufficient time if you're doing an excursion or need a ride to the airport. The pool was disgusting!!! It looked like the bottom of the pool had a thin layer of algae making the pool look greenish. I didn't even want to go in and nor did any of the other guests. The breakfast is bread, stale muffins, hard boiled eggs, American cheese, and smoked sausage. UNLESS you order off their menu (which we did not), I wouldn't call it a good enough breakfast to persuade your decision to stay here. At night, there is a local animal that makes a noise that makes you think it's a baby screeching/crying. It's so bothersome that it'll wake you up throughout the night.

Great downtown location. Walking distance to most things to see and do. Easy check in. We knew there was no elevator but the desk person insisted on taking our luggage to the second floor. We had two double beds, small table with a chair, good size closet and dresser so there was good room for clothes. Room on the small size, clean, functional bathroom. There are not many outlets but we made it work. Two chairs and a table outside the room. Daily housekeeping. Breakfast was included but not much beyond toast, juice, hard boiled eggs, coffee and tea. There was also a list to order cooked food at reasonable prices. The outdoor area was comfortable but the pool was not inviting. We never saw anyone in the pool. WIFI was down one day, so no tv either. Helpful staff. Ordered taxis for us when needed.

Dated, rancid, filthy, and an overt eye soar. Shame on the inspectors for NOT doing their jobs. Clearly, if they did, there is no way that this place would still be allowed to do business, in such a terrible condition of their hotel rooms. Shame on the owners for being so greedy! Place seems to have missed the boat for any renovations. There is clearly no value placed on guest satisfaction!! Everything is falling apart in this nasty hotel motel. The food tastes stale and has a weird smell..... including breakfast or anything you order from their menu. Are the blackened spots, or areas within the shower, mole spores?

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is a little old fashioned and "quaint" but everything in the room worked (i.e. wifi, TV, fan, air-con, shower) and was comfortable. By local standards the price is inexpensive and good value. Staff were helpful and of course the parrot is the star. The location is excellent for everything in Down Town, Nassau. I would be happy to stay there again.

Older hotel but we'll maintained. Staff and owners are very friendly. You do get a lot of noise as hotel is in the downtown area but I didn't mind it. Lunch and dinner were both excellent. The free continental breakfast you can skip. Not very good. Muffins were stale and really no variety in the items offered. Very basic. They have a breakfast menu but cooks don't come in until noon so no breakfast but the continental. Luckily Dunkin' Donuts is behind the hotel on the corner. Max the Macaw was really fun to interact with! 2 for 1 happy hour drinks! Excellent Bahama Mamas!

We stayed here for a night before we checked into a resort so we could see the city. It was within walking distance to the straw market, fish fry, beach, and distillery which was awesome. The front desk people were also very nice. The towels and sheets seemed clean but the floors and bathroom were dirty and ants were crawling on the walls and bed next to the window. We did not eat there but there were flies all over the parrots perch in the main lobby during breakfast when we were checking out. The Wi-Fi and cable were down for part of our stay as well. Loved the location but would not stay here again.

I don't quite understand what some people expect for the money. We found this hotel to be very cutely quirky! It had a 'local' feel to it. Yes, the rooms may be a bit dated and basic but it was adequately clean and our ground floor room around the pool was a lovely setting. The continental breakfast set us up for the day and all the staff were extremely efficient, friendly and helpful. As stated by the previous reviewer, Max the parrot, who was in reception (apart from at breakfast time) just made it all the more enjoyable. He usually responded to 'hello Max' with his 'hello' albeit in his own time! Would not hesitate to stay again.

Very difficult I would think. Steps up to entrance from the street and up to the rooms. Ithink there was a lift inside but it would not be easy to negotiate wheelchair in the rooms. Sorry but that is how it is.
