I've reviewed this resort in the past and I fully agree with the assessment made in a travel article in the March 28, 2017 New York Times: its a wonderful low-key place, perfect to slow down. As a lifelong New York City resident, I'm always amazed at just how quiet the place is, even during busy times. Since Leading Hotels...

We reserved fairly late and were lucky to get a room with a waterview. The resort has extensive grounds with several very nice beaches, ok snorkeling, and some trails, none of which are crowded. Our room, which clearly had not been refurbished in many years, was ok but pretty tired, especially for $823/night. However, the grounds and the staff are...

My wife and I spent four days at Caneel Bay Resort in August of 2015. It was amazing. We had a cottage on Scott Beach and it was steps away from the water. Every morning we woke up with the sun and went snorkeling for an hour or so before breakfast and then would spend the day exploring the different...

We came back last week from our second time to Caneel. Bottom Line The Rockefellers purchased a gem and treated it that way. The ocean and the beaches are spectacular. The management and staff were terrible considering they charge $1,500 a night. Why? The service comes with an attitude and the management when asked about it defends the assertive approach....

I just came back from spending a week at Caneel. My wife and I had been there over 20 years ago and we were thrilled to see that the sheer beauty of the place has been preserved! So why a "3" instead of anything higher? Well because it is inexcusable that for the prices that are being charged there are...

Beautiful hotel. Great service. This place is perfect for a couples getaway. Very quiet. Beautiful beaches and excellent restaurants. The rooms are specious and the beds confortable. Donkeys everywhere. Crystal clear water beaches by day... fine dining and star gazing at night. Cant wait to stay here again.

Visited the resort in March 2017 and absolutely enjoyed the experience. We had heard about the resort through a couple we know that has been going to Caneel for years and we finally decided to experience it ourselves. From the beautiful beaches (Turtle Beach is my favorite) to the dining (amazing sushi & delicious fine dining at the Turtle Bay...

Beautiful rooms, lovely beaches, clear water, great diving sites and awesome food, a truly relaxing vacation. CB is at the top of our list for a return visit. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms evoked a sense that we were on a Pacific Island. Lots of bamboo furniture and comfy beds. Very clear water, beautiful scuba diving trips....

I cannot believe I booked this vacation for 3 nights. We needed (at minimum) 4-5 nights. Where we hung out and ate: We had amazing sushi at Umami. We were told to make a rez but we just walked in at 8-9ish and were fine. We also ate at Extra Virgin Bistro and chose a fantastic bottle of wine and...

My wife and I just returned from our first stay at Caneel. We booked last minute and read many reviews on this forum before booking. I'd say most of the reviews here are right on. The beaches and grounds are truly spectacular. The buildings blend into the landscape, such that you see the beaches, turquoise water, rolling lawns and hillsides...
