My husband and I stayed at Cruz Views condo 2 and had an amazing time. From booking to check-out, the staff at Caribbean Villas of St John was wonderful- always got right back to my questions, made the reservation process very easy and assigned us with a great island greeter, Kierra who was very information, punctual, and professional. The view from the balcony was incredible and the pool was great to use for an early morning swim and a late day dip. The condo was very clean and had everything we needed and then some. We would not think of staying anywhere else when we return to the magical island of St. John.

Very easy to communicate with property owners and staff. Everyone was very helpful. Nice pool with a gorgeous view. Conveniently located. We enjoyed our stay. Be careful on the ladder to the loft. Our 8 year old loved it but it was a little hard for me at times. 😁

I was shocked to read the scurrilous remarks re Cruz Views. We vacationed during the same month as the author of the negative review and had a completely different experience and perception. Our unit was well-equipped, comfortable with a porch that boasted views of Cruz Bay, the Caribbean, other islands and the sunset that were unforgettable. Sunny, the caretaker, was available for any questions-and the condo ,as well as the pool ,was scrupulously clean. We will be returning to Cruz Views in 2005.

We stayed in Cruz Views #2. The view is spectacular. The pool is lovely. Just be aware that despite its proximity to town, it is not convenient to take advantage of the restaurants or bars with entertainment. The hill approaching Cruz views is extremely steep with no side walks and no lights. Even our greeter said walking it was dangerous. Even driving is not easy with a hairpin turn at the top of the hill which even in a jeep is hard to navigate. #2 has parking on a side hill steep grade so even walking is difficult. A few drinks would make it hazardous and you must walk the grade to get to the pool. If you don’t walk the hill, you must pay $10-20 to park and then drive which isn’t ideal if you have drinks with dinner. As for the management, they print rules but they aren’t accurate… ie you have to return the keys to their office before 10 on the day you leave but you CAN leave then in the unit.. also contact the jeep return place to make arrangements but no one gets back to you so really you have to contact carribean villas to get a response… an unnecessary runaround. Warren the recommended taxi man - left us at the ferry in st Thomas on the return trip. We confirmed the day before, waited an hour only to have him tell us he couldn’t find a driver… They tell you you will have many beaches to choose from but in actuality, unless you want to arrive at the beach before 9 am, you will drive from beach to beach and have to search and search for parking and end up at the one no one else wants…

We stayed at Cruz Views (unit #6) in early April 2004 and found it to be nothing like what was represented on Caribbean Villa's website or in their printed brochures. We didn't have a chance to see any of the other units so I suppose they might actually be nice, but all I can stay is steer clear of #6 -- and to be on the safe side, avoid Cruz Views altogether. The place was a dump. Our condo was dirty (floors I did not want to be barefoot on) and in very poor condition. There was a skylight that was so cracked, rusted and covered in grime that no light actually came through. When I opened one of the kitchen cabinets the door fell off. There was one futon to sit on and that was it for furniture in the living area. The bathroom was nasty and the linens and towels were ratty and bleach-stained. None of the unit's outside lights worked (which was disturbing since the rental agent told us there had been break-ins in the area lately). The beach chairs provided for our use were broken.Upon arriving and realizing what a huge disappointment the condo was, Caribbean Villas was no help. They rudely told us that we were stuck there and there was nothing they could do. We asked that they at least repair the outside lights and the broken cabinets and they assured us that the maintenance person would be there that afternoon. Well, we were there for five days and no one ever fixed these things. The worst part was that the condo completely ran out of water (or else it was caused by some kind of major plumbing problem) 48 hours into our stay. Literally, not a drop of running water. It was the weekend so we called the "emergency" number that Caribbean Villas had provided and left and message. And then, hours later, left another message. And then, the next day, had to call a THIRD time (having had no response). By the time they fixed it we had been without running water for more than 24 hours. So much for the "first-class around the clock guest and maintenance service" Caribbean Villas boasts about all over their website.Bottom line, Cruz Views #6 was a complete ripoff and in my mind Caribbean Villas lacks any credibility. We loved the island of St. John but if we return we will be finding accomodations through another agency.

Island is so beautiful that nothing else matters !!!

PROS
- Unit 2 was nice with FANTASTIC VIEW !! from our own secluded deck, facing the swimming pool followed by beautiful sea and sunset view!!
- Had all possible stuff in the room, which are needed by a beach goer,
Towels, Beach chairs, Cooler, First aid kit, well equipped kitchen and lots of bedding stuff !!
- Condo has a cute floor plan (Kitchen, small living room and deck is downstairs and Terra-cota steps goes up to bedroom and bathroom. A/C is in living room, but if left ON for few hrs it is perfect for whole Condo)
-Bedroom is small but cute, bathroom is nice with Terra-cota tiles.

CONS
- Condo needs overall Linen makeover.
- Since it is a condo, Kitchen need to have some basic stock !! .. coffee m/c need coffee pouches
- Due to its location, either u are a confident driver or is ready to walk steep 100 mtrs up/down the hill to reach center of the town.

Recently returned from USVI. Stayed at Cruz View #1. It is above the other complexes and has a spiral staricase leading to a loft style bedroom. We were only 2 but, thought it would be nice to have the extra space. The place was well equippted with kitchen supplies and tons of bathroom towels and beach towels. They also included a cooler and a few beach chairs. The general appearnce of the unit could be livened up a bit and the couches could use an update. The bedroom & bathroom need more lights. The bedroom was the only room with and A/C.
Some pluses were we had a huge patio, the villas were quiet, pool was clean, rate was good and it's only minutes from town and the main road to all beaches.
If looking for a deal and minimal ammenities this place is for you! Our unit is privately owned and each unit most likely has it's own feel and decor.

I crossed Cruz Views off my list a few years ago for various reasons, but I thought I'd give it another try. Choosing Unit #8 was a big mistake. To reach #8 you need to go down more than 22 steep and narrow steps - a complete nightmare for carrying luggage or groceries. The unit itself was dark and depressing with furniture that I would have to describe as tired. No towels were hung in the bathroom, there was no radio alarm clock, the kitchen was equipped to the absolute minimum and I discovered how scant cleaning supplies were went the coffee maker went ballistic ans spewed grounds all over the wall. (Fortunately I was able to borrow another coffee maker from an unoccupied unit. Sunny, the caretaker was and always has been exceptionally nice.) The phone was out of order during my entire stay and the view was awful. It looks out at a huge condominium complex where work has stopped and the place remains unfinished. It's not a pretty sight. All porch areas were screened in (one functioned as the dining room) and there was no access to sun, so plan to carry your towels, books, sunscreen, lunch and drinks up those 22 steps to the pool area. I was so pleased to leave unit #8 and enjoy the rest of my St. John visit elsewhere!

Room Tip: Don't rent a unit on the bottom level of Cruz Views. Rent a car - the hill to CV is VERY steep!

I stayed in Cruz Views #10 on my first visit to St. John. The price and the proximity to Cruz Bay made the stay enjoyable. This is an older, charming group of 10 condo units with a spotless pool and deck area. CV #10 seemed to be the most private condo due to the nice wrap around deck landscaped on one side with trees and flowers. Good views of the sunset, harbor and the lights of STT. The condo was charming and comfortable. The kitchen was remodeled a few years ago and stocked with everything I needed to make meals at home. Dishwasher was a plus, although I only needed to use it once at the end of my stay. The living room was cozy but the furniture was in good shape. There is a small master bedroom(good bed) and a loft with 2 twin beds. The loft may be kind of tight for 2 adults. The A/C unit and ceiling fans cooled down the whole place nicely when I returned from the beach. There are good quality beach chairs, beach towels, backpacks, snorkle gear ect, for use. It was totally peaceful and private at night.
That being said, there is a major construction project on the hillside across from Cruz Views and there is construction noise from 7 AM-5 PM. It looks like the construction will be ongoing for another 6 mos to a year before completion(I'm not a contractor, but that is my guess). The construction noise did not not bother me much, because I was out at the beaches all day. However , If you were planning to hang out at the pool at Cruz Views during the morning or afternoon, the noise could be a bummer.
The hill to town is "St. John's steep". I would recommend a car or you could walk down to Cruz Bay for dinner and Taxi home. There is a good size parking lot at the complex(once you make the plunge down into it).
I loved my perch on the hillside, and would definitely return.

Cruz Views Villas
We stayed at Cruz Views #3. Cruz Views is managed by Caribbean Villas and they have representatives on the island.
A Caribbean Villa representative who showed us to our villa met us at the ferry dock.
I can't tell you how happy we were with Cruz Views #3. This villa was so perfect for the two of us. It has one bedroom and a loft. It was so clean and bug free. We were amazed that we didn't see one bug in the villa the entire time we were there. We loved the way it was decorated and the bathroom was especially beautiful. We greatly appreciated all the amenities such as the DVD player, TVs both down stairs and in the bedroom, plenty of plush towels, quality sheets on the beds, two types of ice chests, beach chairs, four beach towels, and even swim noodles. We loved having WiFi that worked so well. We also appreciated the supplied paper products and new sealed dish washing sponge and the tote bag with coffee and other treats. We enjoyed quite a bit of time on our balcony which was private and had a fan to keep us cool. It had amazing views of Cruz Bay and St Thomas. We enjoyed watching the car ferries pull in and out of port. It was so nice to relax on our balcony each morning for breakfast and in the evening when we enjoyed the lights of St. Thomas and the stars. One negative was that the mattress needs to be replaced. It was soft in places and broken down.
There is a small shallow pool but we did not use it.
The local agents were wonderful and gave us great service. We needed to call them about a couple minor problems and/or questions and they responded immediately. We had an electrical problem and someone was sent to fix it the same morning.
I was impressed with how quickly Caribbean Villas answered all my e-mail questions before the trip.
Hopefully we will be able to return to Cruz Views soon.
