Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel is an intimate accommodation made up of 14 guest rooms and one penthouse apartment suite. The hotel was completely renovated in 2010 and 2013 blending chic Miami boutique hotel decor with the more casual style of an island villa. The result is a clean, simple yet elegant venue. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Cruz Bay town's best restaurants, bars and shopping. This lively location is the perfect spot for accessing all of St. John's beaches and attractions. Just around the corner from the ferry dock (only 250 feet away), Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel is the closest accommodation upon arrival to St. John. No taxi or rental car is required and there are no hills or winding roads to traverse - just stroll on over.

Hotel's Favourite
We cannot say enough good things about our experience. Aptly named, this hotel is quintessentially’boutique’. Located in the heart of Cruz Bay it is a 3 minute stroll to the open air taxi’s where you can choose any number of spectacular beaches to explore. Once home from the beach spend time on their comfortable deck where you will be sure to meet some interesting people. Honestly, this may have been our favorite feature. The hotel attracts down-to- earth guests who are genuinely interested in others. You can tell David and Denise place a lot of pride in this establishment. They as well as Megan are incredibly friendly and accommodating. While modest in size and simple in decor the rooms were cozy and immaculately cleaned. Already booked another stay. Thanks to all!

Just spent four nights with my family of young children. We had the penthouse suite which came with a fully stocked kitchen (dishes, pots/pans etc.) fold-out couch, and separate bedroom. The space was clean and roomy. The hotels staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and gave us daily tips as to what to do on the island. The complimentary continental breakfast was a nice perk with coffee, tea, juice, oatmeal, yogurt, and pastries. The other reviewers are correct in saying that they're sometimes will be music from a nearby restaurant but putting the AC on low fan drowned out all that noise. Would definitely visit St John again for all the beautiful beaches, snorkeling, and hikes and would highly recommend the boutique hotel if you don't want to spend a fortune.

We stayed in the larger suite and was just what we needed for a family of 4. The owners Were very helpful and accommodating and provided a reliable service throughout. Their location is exactly in the middle of downtown Cruz Bay so walking to everything is within 5 minutes. The Jeep rental next door provides overnight parking if you rent from them. Our stay was 5 Nights. If you want more of a resort feeling you will easily spend twice as much between $700-$1000 a night at Gallows point or the Westin. For our young family’s budget this fit the bill and allowed us to use our money to rent jeeps, eat out, and explore the island. We will be back!

It is rare for me to say that a hotel was like home, but Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel certainly felt like we belonged there during our stay at St. John. David and Denise were not just folks who checked us in and out at the front desk; they were the local experts who gave great advice on beaches, tours, and restaurants. I am so glad we asked them to make restaurant reservations in advance for us because on the nights we didn't make advanced bookings, the wait at some restaurants lasted for eternity! They also were genuinely interested in how we had spent our day when we came back and answered our questions in detail even if they must have been asked the same questions innumerable times. Denise even provided an unforgettable science lesson on the link between parrot fish and white sand! My husband decided much later to join my son and I on this trip; David and Denise made it possible to accommodate all of us. We were here to snorkel, and their tips on which beaches to go to and how to get there were spot on. We especially liked Honeymoon Beach (the clearest water ever!) and Maho Beach (Turtle sightings!!!) it was wonderful getting breakfast items that were filling such as oatmeal, fruit, and yogurt before we embarked on our beach adventures, bringing along with us the chairs and towels graciously provided by the hotel. The rooms we got back to were always clean; the shower pressure was powerful, and the air conditioner was most welcome after a long day spent in the sun.
I have no sense of direction, but I felt like a local since the hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Cruz Bay. We never had to worry about missing the ferry, since it was so close by. Even at night, I always knew how to get back 'home!' St. John and its pristine beaches are now so very far, far away, but I hope to return to Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel...without needing a map, I'll know how to get there straight off the ferry! Thanks for being such great and caring hosts, Denise and David...

This was my first trip to St John USVI and I will say that Denise and David are so nice! Our plane landed in St Thomas and we missed the 7 o clock car barge so we have to catch the next person ferry over. I emailed them and let then know that we were going to be late checking in and they took care of me and was waiting on me as soon as we got there. They were very patient and considering and understanding. Denise took a map and showed me places I could eat late, what was around, best places to go, and all other things around the town. They had plenty of towels and room essentials provided and also room service that came in and swept up the sand and wiped everything down. They also had chairs and water noodles that we could use as needed. They were incredibly nice and we loved the hotel. We can not go back. The only thing we didn't like is that there was no free parking at the hotel.

Stayed for one night prior to villa trip for the week. Check in was easy and pleasant. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. I was not expecting bed to be so comfortable. We did hear a little music from Beach Bar but not to bad. It was a good location for a short stay. My only complaint was the smell of the disinfectant, it was so strong in the room. The smell alone would really give me second thoughts from staying here again.

My husband and I made a last minute decision to take a mini vacation to St.John. We love it there and felt we needed a little winter escape. We lucked out and were able to book a few nights at the Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel. It was our first time staying there. We normally go to STJ for a week and book villas in the Fish Bay area. We've stayed in a condo at Grande Bay once as well and really enjoyed being close to town. This hotel was perfect for our short winter get away. We loved being right in town to grab dinner and drinks at night. We walked everywhere. We loved that beach chairs and coolers were provided. We packed up for the day, walked down to the ferry dock area and caught a taxi to the beach. Taxis ran often as soon as they were filled and took us to pretty much any beach we wanted...except Francis because they said we would be stuck waiting around for rides back to town. It was $8 per per each way, well worth it....saving us lots of money on renting a car for our short trip. Having been on island 7 times before we didn't feel the need to go over to the coral bay side this short trip. Hotel offers a lovely light breakfast, they kept our room sparkling clean and were just very nice hosts making us feel welcome and relaxed. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Let me start by saying how wonderful our hosts (David and Denise) were, any requests we made they did their best to accommodate, offered great suggestions on beaches and activities, and overall just a warm and sweet couple. You can tell they take great pride in their establishment and strive for stellar customer service.
Now on to the hotel, we booked one of the penthouse apartments which includes a living quarters with sofa-bed, full kitchen, 1 bath and 1 bedroom. We are a family of four and beds provided were sufficient, Denise provided an extra supportive pillow for me due to metallic implant in neck so extra points for that. When I say full kitchen I mean FULL kitchen, there's a large fridge/freezer, stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender, plates, cups, silverware, cookware, spice rack, etc, everything you would need to make meals is there, which we took full advantage of to prepare to-go lunches for the kids to help save money on eating out. Extra points for this. Also was used to prepare kid's morning eggs and cereal which i bought from local market. Hotel does offer continental breakfast, but is very simple which includes variety of fruits (apples, tangerines, bananas, etc), prepackaged pastries, yogurt cups, oatmeal packets, hot water/milk/juice/coffee jugs, and tea packets. Hotel is in great proximity to major port, eateries, and shops all walking distance.
There were some issues wanted to mention, one is no fault to the hotel but during my stay it was during Carnival which runs a little over a week , hotel is right in the center hub of the festivities, so literally every night there was loud booming music playing till 6am, kept kids up most of the nights so just a warning to any family traveling with kids during this time. Also wanted to note the hotel does not have 24/7 staff, so if discovered need any new bedding it will have to wait until following morning when housekeeping returns if. But as mentioned hosts were very accommodating with any additonal sheets or toiletries needed. The area was always a buzz with tourists waking about so felt fairly safe the entire time, the hotel has a gated cipher lock on front entrance which is shared with guests, need to remember this as mentioned hotel is not 24/7 staffed but one could probably phone host if forgot code. Lastly the penthouse has three flights of steps to access, anyone with back issues ( such as myself) may find it difficult to carry luggage up but David was very helpful in carrying up the heaviest suitcase for me, again awesome hosts.
My family and I definitely enjoyed our stay, its next to world renowned beaches (loved Hawksnest, Cinnamon and Trunk bay beaches), cruise excursions, and a great little colorful town. Will plan for a future return.

I have just returned from exploring St John for the first time . I am a solo traveler and found the perfect place to stay . Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel . Owned by Denise and David who took perfect care of me in every detail . They offered advice on what to do ; kayaking , hiking , beaches . The hotel has comfortable rooms and continental breakfast . They offer beach towels , beach chairs , sunscreen , repellant and unlimited advice about the island . I let Denise make all my dinner reservations for 3 nights . Perfect choices to experience the variety of restaurants . The location of the hotel is a 5 minute walk from everything including the ferry from St Thomas . Just a wonderful personable experience . Thank you so much Denise and David ! I loved it !

My friend and I spent two nights at Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel. The hotel has the best location - just a few steps from the ferry dock, beach, restaurants, shops, Mongoose Junction and car rentals. Although it's right in town, it was quiet and peaceful.
The room was very clean, with hot water, AC and ceiling fan. They also provided beach towels, beach chairs and coolers for guests which was a great addition. We loved the breakfast that David and Denise provided with bananas from their garden, oranges, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee and tea.
We were catching a late ferry back to St. Thomas, and David and Denise allowed us to have a late check out which we really appreciated.
I travel to St. John for work once or twice a month and will be sure to stay here every time.

That's a good question. I have gone to St John many times and never saw anyone with a beach umbrella. Nor have I ever seen a beach umbrella being sold in any of the shops. Email Cruz Bay Boutique hotel. THE STAFF ARE EXTREMELY HELPFUL.
This hotel has stairs you have to climb to get to the rooms, which was the only drawback for me.. we had looked at another place called The St John Inn, which is near town, but not as convenient as the Cruz Bay. On St John , most of the rentals are on hillsides & not many hotels.. these were the two that we had picked just because of being close to downtown.. the food is pretty expensive , but it is a beautiful island..
They don't have it at the hotel but there are rental places in Cruz Bay and st some beaches.
Take a look at Cinnamon Bay Campground. They have tent sites as well as cottages that are under $100 per night. It's located on one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Hope you enjoy St. John!
The best beaches are about a 5-10 minute taxi ride from here. There is a waterfront area that you could jog at that is walking distance.
