Our family of four with two tweens enjoyed this stay as our third stop of four locations. We stayed four nights. The children enjoyed the newer pool and hot tub. It is a nice place for kids to socialize and play. It is a short walk to any downtown location including the terrace right next door, and mangoes across town near mango junction. Also a convenience store two blocks down next to the church. We did one longer walk to the sprague history museum and library which was still closed from the storms. Near there, up the hill is a dolphin market that is large. Also close by is a liyyle bakery with fresh baked goods. There is a beach just outside that you can see but most folks go into town and catch a taxi to any of the famous beaches like trunk bay and cinnamon bay. We tried the crown bay ferry but there was a problem but they quickly took care of driving us to the red hook ferry. We are not late night people but there is that here if you like bars and parties. The new years eve party was in two locations in town. Many pretty yachts in harbor to view. If I do this again, hopefully, I would skip St T and go right to St J. Recommend the bad kitty catamaran charter. We did the all day trip which needed passports, but worth it. Kids had an incredible time and it was a very happy trip. It may rain, which makes the pool a nice closeby place to occupy kids. I cant say enough about the view. There is a small computer in the office e that my daughter used to check on her school registration. Pack lightly as it is a 4 block walk to ferry. I was happy we left momas large suitcase at home and went with a small roller for each of us, a bag for the snorkel gear, and beach bag. I dont k ow why I packed socks, you wont need them. A little bug spray is optional for walks to beaches, rugs not bad but we each got a couple mosquitoe bites on ankles.

Three couples rented a 3 bedroom condo via VRBO. We couldn't have been happier. The only 2 negative things I have to say: 1) Cranky next door neighbor got pissy with us twice, once we were on the deck at 11pm making a bit too much noise (I get that), but another time while waiting in the hallway (before 5pm mind you) for maintenance to let us in (our keys didn't work and the mechanism in the door itself had to be repaired). 2) The shower heads in both bathrooms are in need of replacement. Otherwise: our place was very well equipped/maintained by a management company: spotlessly clean, an amazing view from a wrap-around deck, well appointed kitchen, numerous towels for both bathrooms and beach, dedicated parking space for the unit & storage locker in the garage w/beach chairs, RT transfers from/to ferry (we walked but they p/u & d/o luggage), WiFi, soaps, shampoos, coffee filters and such. We chose this property because it offers C/A where most other properties we checked offered A/C only in the bedrooms. Next door is a great bar that guests of Grande Bay are welcomed to a comp. cocktail 2 nights per week, and a shop to rent (very reasonably) snorkel gear. We used the car to commute to beaches, but amazing restaurants and bars are within walking distance of the property: a particular feature we appreciated as we were there to celebrate & imbibe and did so w/o the worry of driving! We are foodies as well and cannot say we had a bad meal. One evening we took a private ferry to Lovango Cay for dinner and that was amazing. Many years ago we designated Mullet Bay Beach as the one to beat, it is the only beach we will go to on St. Maarten. Since then quite a number of St. John beaches have bumped it down our list...some not as expansive, but all with stunning, clear blue water and awesome snorkeling. I also highly recommend a Catamaran cruise over to White Bay Beach, Jost VanDyke (the one that has so far surpassed all).

We have stayed at many resorts and condos at beaches all over the world. This one was a fantastic pick. It is in the best location with the best views of Cruz Bay. It was very clean, probably the cleanest condo we’ve ever rented. We stayed in a studio on the first floor and was easy to get in and out of with elevators not far apart from each other. Our studio had a king bed and pull out couch for our two little boys, nice bathroom, and small kitchen. We could easily walk to High Tide within 1 minute or Mongoose Junction within 5 minutes. The pool was small but our kids loved it and the pool deck has great views of the bay. Note that the parking space goes to the bigger 1 and 2 bedroom units so if you rent a studio you might not get a parking spot. However, we prearranged parking with Slim Mans for the week. Overall, we hope to return here soon and have recommended it to friends.

What a beautiful place to stay!! The Low Key Watersports shop recommended Grande Bay Resort since we wanted to do a lot of diving and it's right next-door. We stayed in the Penthouse Terrace in Bldg. 1. THE VIEWS!!! This one bedroom, one bathroom VRBO was perfect for us. It has two large patios both with fabulous views of Cruz Bay. There is also a small deck we didn't use (no views). It has a large dining room that worked great for us to organize our dive gear and cameras. Close to the Cruz Bay Ferry, restaurants, shopping and medium size food store all an easy walk. I have to mention the bed - It was one of the most comfortable beds with the best pillows we have ever had at a resort. It was too big to take home in my luggage.
We worked with Ashley, Jessica and Helen in the office ( as well as several other wonderful/helpful people at the front desk) with booking and other logistics. All very accommodating to our needs and questions.
Very clean inside and out! Beautiful pool/hot tub/deck area.
We would certainly recommend this place and stay there again!

Location was excellent as it was within walking distance to restaurants and dining in Cruz Bay. The view from our balcony was great. A plus was the beach chairs, coolers, and towels for use at the beach.
The main negative was the lack of adequate bath soap. We had very small bath soap bar that only lasted the Two of us two days. After calling the front desk to request more we were told it was our responsibility to go to a store and purchase ourselves. If you plan to stay more than two days then I suggest you bring your own bath soap.

We were seeking a great place to stay within a short walk to Cruz Bay with all of its shops, restaurants and convenient access to the ferry dock. We found it at Seaside Properties at Grand Bay Resort. Our connected condo suites were perfectly situated on the 2nd floor of the property with sweeping views of the bay and perfect alignment to view awesome sunsets. Beautifully appointed and stocked with everything you need to make your stay complete, The owners are wonderful to work with and very accommodating as are the front desk staff and maintenance personnel. When we make our next trip to St. John, we will be repeat customers for sure!

Wow! What a great way to spend the day on the water. The family chartered the boat which includes Captain Mason! He lets the guest chart the course, or he will make some excellent suggestions. He knew all the great snorkeling spots as well as the best swimming places. St. John is so beautiful and what a better way to enjoy this fantastic island! Captain Mason was very good attending to every guest questions and needs, some were nervous and he did his very best to make everyone comfortable. I would highly suggest this as a group outing, been on other boats with other captains and this is a cut above them all!!

Chose this hotel for our recent three day stay in St. John. We received a call from the hotel prior to our stay to verify arrival time and answer questions. This was very helpful. Check in was a breeze and off to the unit, a very spacious one bedroom suite with full kitchen and oversized veranda overlooking Cruz Bay. The unit was very clean and very nicely furnished, kitchen had everything we'd need for the stay. Loved the unit! Bed was comfy and the towels were very nice thickness. It was so relaxing to sit on the veranda and watch the activities below on the beach. Pool area is not huge but was also nicely appointed. Every staff member we encountered was helpful and pleasant. Highly recommend this resort for any St. John stay.

Location is hard to beat, close to both the car ferry and the passenger ferry. Plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance, and the beaches are close by right off of North Shore Drive. And did I mention the balcony views?!

This is our most recent of many trips to St John, the 1st one since the devastating hurricanes. I’m happy to report the island is as beautiful as ever & the local community so welcoming and resilient.
Usually we have family and get a villa but since this was just a couple trip we decided to get a 1 bedroom suite n Cruz Bay.
We lucked out with our unit. Very clean, had all the amenities needed and beautiful views. Plus just a few steps to great restaurants & town. Although it’s close to town, it’s quiet & private. I give it 4 stars as I wouldn’t categorize it as luxurious but certainly checked all the boxes for our needs this time around.

I've looked online and all I have ever been able to find are outdated FB links. I can tell you, having stayed there a few times, that if you look at the satellite image on google maps, you can see the pool on the far left (as you're looking toward the water). In terms of the parking, there are garages underneath both the upper and lower buildings, with the entrances kind of in the middle of both. If you are in the lower buildings, you'll elevator or walk the steps up the the pool; if you're in an upper building, you'd go down to the pool (although there is still a flight of steps up).

What is the cheapest way from airport to hotel
Answer from Jwolff70
Virginia Beach, Virginia130 contributions57 helpful votes
Taxi from STT airport to ferry at Redhook. 45-60 minute taxi ride, for a 15 minute ferry crossing. Ferry rates are $6 per adult one way- each bag is $2.50 ( luggage). Ferry runs every hour on the hour. Hotel is within blocks from the ferry dock- short walk or probably a cheap taxi ride if you’re not renting a vehicle. Most expensive part is the taxi ride from STT airport to Redhook, to get on the ferry to Cruz Bay, STJ. There is a ferry in Charlotte Amalie, closer to the airport, but it’s schedule varies and that crossing is 45 minutes.

Every condo has a balcony & every balcony has a grill (electric for safety) I presume. A fun, laid back night........very reasonable is take-out from "Uncle Joe's Barbecue". Located just up from Longboard's. Follow the smell!! Don't overlook the grilled ribeye from Banana Deck, across the street from "the Beach Bar"...my fav.
