Ditto to all the good points that other reviewers made. This is a roomy and comfortable cottage for two people with nice decor, great outdoor space and a FABULOUS view. I do not think the pictures on the website do justice to the view. The washer and dryer were a big plus for us since we were moving to Cruz Bay for the second week and only had to pack carry on.
It took me a few days to relax with the switchbacks but the cottage is literally a two minute drive from Skinny Legs. Paul, the manager, lives next door and was great, he will take care of any problems that pop up.
We wanted to rent it for the same time next year but it was already booked .

We stayed at this villa October 20-27 for an our anniversary and birthday celebration and absolutely loved it. The scenery from the balcony was breath-taking, and the owner, Greg, has equipped the villa with everything you would need. The villa is new, so everything is in great shape and clean. There are 2 TVs w/cable, DVD and CD players (with an impressive collection of movies and music for your use), the kitchen has stainless steel appliances with all of the extras you would need (we cooked a few nights while there), a washer and dryer in a basement area under the villa, and a dipping pool outside with a huge deck and beautiful landscaping. The villa is on a hill overlooking Coral Bay and convenient to the restaurants and markets in Coral Bay. The road to the villa is a little steep, but not too much for our 4WD Suzuki Grand Vitara to handle. Wonderful location for a few of the out of the way snorkel areas and to the North Shore beaches. The big frogs were kind of noisy at night, but we thought they were cute...and a occasional donkey honk was funny. The goats made their way up the hill one day. Highly recommend and will definitely be staying here on our next trip to St. John.

My wife and I are just now finishing up our honeymoon here at In Harmony Retreat, and it has been everything we could have ever hoped for. Greg made sure everything was in perfect condition for when we got here, helped us find stuff, and then let us just enjoy our privacy. The villa has breathtaking views, a wonderful pool, and all of the amenities one could ask for. It was also super nice to have a cooler and snorkeling gear provided!!
A couple of note for future travelers:
-We used Dependable Car rental on St. Thomas and took the car ferry over to St. John. Dependable was great, and also was one of the few places that was willing to rent a jeep to someone under 25 (we are both 24).
-Get a jeep for sure. The hill up to the villa is quite steep (you get used to it and it is actually pretty fun), but I don't know how well a car would fair in the rain. I mean, I don't even know if you really could get a car anyway, everyone here has a jeep.
-Get used to Island time, especially with the car barge over. As far as I know, there are now only 2 car barges instead of 3. This means they pretty much run about once and hour or so. The main point of that is "or so." We ended up having to wait because something broke on one of them. It's OK though. Just sit back, get a drink from the bar right next to the dock and enjoy the view as you wait.
-If you are planning on using the kitchen, I would recommend CostULess on St. Thomas on the way in. It is basically like Costco but there is no membership required. They also have smaller portions.

Beaches:
Trunk Bay was by far the best for both swimming and snorkeling.
Lameshur Bay was secluded and wonderful for both swimming and snorkeling.
Waterlemon Cay was fantastic for snorkeling, but requires a 20 minute hike and it can get quite buggy there.

Food:
Morgans Mangoes was the best!
Lime Inn was a nice second, with fantastic service and great food!
Aqua Bistro was a nice option for something on this side of the Island.
Skinny Legs was reasonably priced and convenient, although the food took almost an hour both times we went.

Overall, Thank you for such a wonderful time Greg!!! We now have such wonderful memories to carry with us forever!

My wife and I just finished a week at the In Harmony Retreat. The views were spectacular and the house immaculate. Greg provided everything needed to tour the island - snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, cooler and advice. He was always available but respected our privacy. He had cooling pads frozen in the ice box, all condiments and spices available, and hundreds of DVDs to use. The two decks have sweeping views of the bay and beyond. It is in the perfect location from which to set off to hike and swim along the eastern beaches and is close enough to the north ones. We only went into Cruz Bay once to fill up the gas tank. We tried to stay away from Cruz Bay; you can have beautiful beaches to yourself in the East. The food is a challenge in the East though. But we didn't come here for the food. The closest upscale food is at Concordia. Skinny Legs, Shipwreck were decent. Our one challenge was getting used to the hairpin turns on the extremely hilly island but got used to it by the second day. I would recommend In Harmony to anyone who wants to get away and tour the wonderful hiking trails and beaches that the island has to offer.

What an awesome vacation destination! Greg, thank you for providing everything we needed/could want in a house--down to the details like beach/snorkeling equipment, a great DVD library, and recommendations on where to eat, etc. We had a great time and were sad to leave such a tranquil place!
We appreciated the privacy we were given from day one, as well as all the little things that made our 10-day trip such a great time. The hose to clean off beach shoes at the end of the day kept things sand-free, the washer/dryer saved us from over-packing, the high-quality BBQ grill made some great steaks, the pool was clean and relaxing, the hammock was well-maintainted, the bed was clean and comfortable, and the bedroom A/C was appreciated on the few humid nights!
We did some great hikes and appreciated the the resources/tips provided by others in the green guest logbook that you keep in the house. Our favorite trail was Ram's Head; so very beautiful and a great payoff for an easy climb. We went for a swim/snorkel at Salt Pond Bay Beach after that particular hike, and that beach turned out to be one of our favorites as well. What an area the southern tip of St. John is! We also hiked the Reef Bay Trail and Caneel/Margaret Hill--both were great--lots of cool vegetation and top notch views. Another favorite beach was Little Lameshur--so peaceful and great snorkeling with squid included! We also snorkeled at Francis Bay, Waterlemon, Maho, Haulover South, Brown Bay, and Trunk Bay. There was something cool to see at each one, with the highlight being a sea turtle sighting at Maho, sting rays at Salt Pond, and colorful fish at Waterlemon.
We had some great food at the Tourist Trap, Skinny Legs, Miss Lucy's, The Lime Inn, and Shipwreck, and ZoZo's. YUM! Tourist Trap and Zozo's...while at opposite ends of the price spectrum, had the most friendly service by far.
Lastly, we did a trip to Jost Van Dyke, BVI aboard the Kekoa, a beautiful diesel/sail catamaran. We took in the scenery, swam with beautiful fish at a snorkel stop, and imbibed at the Soggy Dollar Bar. The Kekoa itself is a beautiful boat with a very interesting story and incredibly friendly, charismatic, and professional crew. Sailing on the Kekoa is the single highest-rated activity we would recommend to friends visiting St. John in the future...besides staying at your house.
Overall, an awesome place to stay...especially while running away from record low temperatures in Boston! Many thanks for your friendly and low-stress help! E & R

wife and i were just in awe from the get go...we happened to arrive when greg was working on his other place next door...he gave a quick tour and then left us to enjoy...his place has everything....very little needed to enhance the stay...right down to the spices for cooking....the views at night and in the morning are great...got to watch a rain cell come in from the right and pass over...then got to see a rainbow at eye level...perfect side of the island away from the touristy side of st john...he went above and beyond to make our stay perfect...am so glad we did not stay in st thomas after experiencing this island...after you get used to the drive its only about 25 minutes to the other side but even that is fun...a perfect way to disconnect from the world...thanx soooo much greg....i am already scheming for another trip...i will let you know....erick/cheryl jones

We stayed here for a week in mid-January and couldn't have been happier. The house is very well-constructed and has everything you need for a week-long stay in Coral Bay. We loved the pool/hot-tub (yes, it can be either...), the open deck, and especially the views throughout the day and evening. All of the appliances were newer and in good working order. This is a great place to stay, and we plan to stay here when we go back to St. John.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at In Harmony in August - our 2nd stay there this year and 4th stay overall. I've said this before, but this place is just like home...I can't believe all the other reviewers...how in the world are they staying at MY house? Seriously...when you're there, it's so private you feel like you own the place. The island was very quiet in August, it was perfect for us.

A special thank you to Greg and Mila for a fun night out at Aqua Bistro...can't wait till next time!

My new husband and I stayed at the In Harmony Retreat for our honeymoon last month. After looking at what seemed like every rental home on the island, we decided on the Retreat and were so happy that we did. This home was perfect. Upon entering the gate and walking to the deck with the small splash pool, we were amazed at the views over Coral and Haulover Bays. We knew upon entering the home that it was exactly as advertised...perfect for two, all the amenities you need, amazing views, and comfortable furnishings. There was even a beach bag and backback beach chairs for our use, which we used everyday on our hikes to the less populated, close by north shore beaches. Every day after spending all morning snorkeling at the beaches (loved Haulover Bay snorkeling), we would head to the laid back Aqua Bistro for a crab cake and drinks, then up the hill to the Retreat to spend the afternoon in the pool. We bbq'd fresh fish and watched the sunsets from the upper deck accessable off the living room. It was such a quiet and peaceful stay here. Greg was wonderful to deal with. He answered all my questions in a timely manner and was available throughout our stay via phone or email in case we needed anything (we didn't). All I can say is: We can't wait to go back and are already planning a 1st anniversary trip. In Harmony Retreat will be the first call we make.

My wife and I just wrapped up our anniversary celebration together at In Harmony Retreat. The views from the house were spectacular and the constant breeze was perfect. The house was great for two people. Cable TV, a large collection of DVD's and Wifi are available, though we didn't use the cable at all with all of the beaches and exploring to be had on St. John! We did use the gas grill one night and we were in the dipping pool/hot tub just outside and we played a variety of music on the nice shelf stereo with tons of CD's available to be played. Several restaurants are close by, as are two grocery stores.

This is a great place that I would definitely recommend to those searching for a nice place to stay. Greg met us the day we arrived and welcomed us to the house. He's a great guy and was always willing to answer questions.

Stay here and you won't regret it. We already miss it!

Hello Cathy, thank you for contacting me. My place rents very well with couples and I get allot of returns and anniversaries. They really enjoy the privacy, comfort and amazing views, in this quiet neighborhood. Next year is filling up fast, already Jan., Feb. and half of March. I do have the dates available you requested and the rate would be for the 9 nights would be an even $3000. I included a 5% discount on over 7 night stays and tax. Let me know if you have any further questions or would like to proceed to book. I require 1/2 deposit to book by check and balance due 30 days before arrival. Hope to have you as a guest for your special anniversary! Greg Kinslow (340)514-7892
