Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
This is a breathtakingly beautiful place to stay. The staff are so kind and friendly. The walking paths to get around the resort are beautiful (and steep at times). The location is perfect and close to all of the local beaches and boat charters. I suggest renting your own vehicle so you can explore the island at your own speed. The food at all on premise restaurants was delicious (and we have a picky eater). We will definitely come back to this amazing resort.

B28 is possibly the most hospitable unit on the property. Bob and Cindy have loaded it with amenities such as coffee, tea, and most kitchen staples (non-refrigerated). They even have a welcome bar so you can have a beverage before you make it to the store. The kitchen has all the utensils dinnerware, and pots/pans you’ll need as well as flashlights, candles, and batteries in case of a power failure.
The balcony has very comfortable chairs and a nice dining table for outdoor use so you can enjoy the beautiful view. Snorkels, masks, fins, and noodles are kept in a bin on the balcony. A cooler is also in the bedroom closet.
Point Pleasant isn’t for the unfit, however, because every trip involves steps and hills through forested paths. But these paths lead to three pools, an exercise room and an amazingly good gourmet restaurant along with a more casual one at the water’s edge (where you watch the tarpon swim as you eat). Not to worry if you’re not that fit, because there’s a shuttle ready to take you to any destination in the resort.
Beautiful Coki beach, Margaritaville, and Coral World are all within easy walking distance.
A great place to visit for your vacation, but bring cash (or your ATM card), as the greenback is the only form of payment for many purchases.
Enjoy!

Point Pleasant was such an amazing surprise on our last visit. We have been to the islands 4 times and this was our fist time to stay at point pleasant. We rented a unit direct from an owner on Airbnb and this place is for sure our new go to location on future trips. One of the few resorts that has a GYM, 3 pools, great access to the most popular hot spots on the island, great security, etc.

In selecting an accommodation my wife and I try to factor in location to restaurants, beaches, shopping, and views from the property. We felt that PPR provided this for us and we were satisfied with our decision. PPR does not really have a swimmable beach that you would use on the property and we were aware of that and felt that with our rental car we could visit the many wonderful beaches on the island.
Prior to our trip I sent correspondences via VRBO and emails to our contact person to ask a few questions about the unit that wasn’t covered within the description on VRBO. This was a frustration point as they would respond but only answer the first of the 4 or 5 questions. We wanted to plan accordingly so we could bring or purchase needed supplies. The unit itself had a huge wrap round porch. It was very private and we enjoyed having our morning coffee and cocktails in the evening while enjoying the magnificent view. As the property met our needs there were a few short-comings. The unit has a fan and light over the dining table that is not functional (minimal light when eating dinner at night). When we asked the front desk how to turn on the light they recalled that the remote was missing and they offered to put in a lamp in that area. I’m not sure why they would not inform us of this when we checked in. When we went to put our clothes in the closet the bi-fold door came off. It appears that it was just put in place to be decorative since you would not be able to use it otherwise. We notified the front desk on this so that it could be noted. Also upon our settling in the safe was locked in the open position and without the ability for us to reset it and use it. We called about that and needed a follow-up call the next morning before someone came. We also either failed to hear the procedures to replace beach towels, bath towels and toiletries or it wasn’t mentioned at the time of our orientation. After a day of travel I’m not sure which but I feel that it would be beneficial to have a short list in the unit that explains this like they have on the wall to conserve resources.
The resort itself we feel has a few items to point out. The three pools, while very nice, have very limited lounge chairs (8 at each). There were days when all were taken, especially in the afternoon. The grounds (especially in the center of the property) need to be better maintained as there was a discarded meal container and rotting food on the center walkway for about a week before it was removed. There was also a soda can that is still in the same area right off of the walkway.
In conclusion, would we return? Possibly as noted above. The property offers beautiful views and 24 hour security. I realize certain aspects of being on an island make it difficult to maintain certain quality standards, but things within ones control, like being informative (proactive to identify and notify about any deficiencies) and debris collection should be easy to do.

Thank you for the feedback. We try our best to provide the best service that we can for everyone that stays at the resort. We try to communicate effectively by responding to any inquiries in a timely manner to everyone If we missed a question or two, I could assure you it was not on purpose and would've gladly answered it again if it was reiterated to us that we missed a question. We do apologize for the inconveniences in the room. We will have maintenance rectify these issues. Just let the front desk know of any issues and they will send down maintenance. For security reasons, we also like to prefer to only go in a room to open safes once the guests are in there. We also at check in explain the procedure for swapping out linens and towels. The front desk is there to answer any inquiries that you may have about the resort. We are deeply sorry for the inconveniences you experienced and hope you give the resort another chance.

I came here for my honeymoon last week. We had an oceanfront room and the tub was disgusting. It had blue drink marks all over the tub. For transportation across the resort we had to travel on a shuttle bus provided by the hotel. The hotel is on a hill and the rooms are even higher so goodluck trying to get down on your own without a shuttle because those services end by 6 pm. I tried to get towels and extra sheets and I had to call them multiple times for them to deliver it. Apparently all towels were in the washer and dryer and did not have enough to accommodate.
The hotel offers to call taxi services for you which you will pay $10-20 per person per 1 way trip and they will also wait for other passengers and have you wait as well. The electricity and water went out for hours for 2 days. On the day of my flight I woke up to no water and electricity. When you call the front desk they are of no help and eventhough I asked when it would be back or if they can offer something so that I can brush my teeth atleast. The front desk woman proceeds to tell me she also left her house this morning without any water.
The smell of seaweed from margaritaville is unbearable. The food was fine at shoreline grill which is one of 2 restaurants they have. Ofcourse it is also nyc prices. Overall I would not recommend this resort because it is hard to get out of the place after 6 pm, the service, electricity/water random outages.

Thank you for the feedback. We do apologize about the tub as that is not our standard. If known we would have sent down housekeeping to help rectify that issue. In terms of the towels. Since there were only 2 occupying the room we were unable to fulfil your order of 6 towel sets every single time but we did deliver towels when you did ask. There was an unplanned power outage by the power authority that caused a power outage for more than half of the island. When the electricity goes out, the water also goes out as water relies on an electric pump to deliver water to the lines. That outage was out of our control. We did offer and delivered bottles of water to you since we had no control over the outages. The taxi prices and operations are set by the taxi commission and is out of our control, the same way establishments in the states cannot control the prices and operations of Uber/taxi rates. Due to the pandemic we have shortened our hours to 6pm and also provide a list of taxis so guests can easily get transportation after the lobby closes. We hope you give us a second chance and book directly next time so you can choose the exact villa you are in.

I'm going to be as fair as possible. This was my first time going to St. Thomas. When I was looking at places to stay on my trip to St. Thomas, I came upon Point Pleasant. It was reasonably priced and appeared to have amazing views from the villas. All that was 100% accurate! I stayed in a studio villa that had amazing views. The room was equivalent to staying at a 2–3-star hotel in the states with water views. If I was to go back to St. Thomas, I probably would stay somewhere else that is more money. The Westin is probably in the best location. The Marriot is literally down the road from Point Pleasant. If I were to stay here, I would get a one-bedroom villa. It's has about triple the space of a studio. One more thing I liked; the rooms here are 75% windows with curtains to give you privacy. Get in shape before going here because getting around the complex on foot is treacherous. It like you are mountain climbing. You have been warned. They are two restaurants on the complex. It's food, nothing special but trust me you will be thankful they are there. You are close to beaches but not really food places.

We spent a week at Point Pleasant to celebrate our 30th Anniversary, and couldn’t have been happier with the resort! It is situated on a hillside overlooking Water Bay on the northeast side of St. Thomas and is an easy 30 minute drive from the airport in Charlotte Amalie. There are three separate pools and all are lovely. None of them seem to get too busy, and there were usually lounge chairs available. The two on-site restaurants (Ocean 180 and Sun & Sea Bar & Grill) are easily accessible, but you should make reservations for dinner because the restaurants are open to the public and they can fill up quickly. The food is excellent at both restaurants (which I’ll review separately). The units are comfortable and clean and every one of them offers spectacular views out toward Thatch Cay and St. John. There are nature trails to walk, and paths that lead down to the water and over to Margaritaville, which is also on Water Bay. The grounds are very well maintained and feature innumerable flowers, ornamental shrubs and lots of natural flora and fauna. Free range chickens abound and will often wake you up (sometimes before you want to be awake!). We also saw lots of iguanas, butterflies, tarpon (they live in front of the Sun & Sea Bar & Grill), chickens, and even a mongoose! Point Pleasant is conveniently located near Red Hook and is an easy (1 mile) drive to Lindquist Beach on Smith Bay, as well as Magens Beach (6 miles). The unit in which we stayed was nicely decorated in island style and was very comfortable. We will definitely return and look forward to staying at Point Pleasant again.

I’ve stayed at point pleasant multiple times and usually attempt to get an ocean front room/villa, all of these have great views. Overall the resort is quite, private, and kept largely in a natural setting. The landscaping is well maintained, but not the overly “resorty” manicured and artificial stuff you see in Hawaii. You can sometimes pickup mango or some other fruit along the trails. There is a very small, no service beach at the end of a trail which is great if you pack a picnic and a few drinks, don’t litter! The nature trail ends up at a great gazebo perfect for scotch cigars and star gazing. This place is in the side of a mountain, so you need to have good mobility if you plan on walking around, lots of stairs. The numbering is confusing, but generally B’s and C’s are villas, E’s are smaller efficiencies like a hotel room with a kitchen. Never stayed in any of the other units up on the mountain, don’t know about those.
We stayed at B7 once, completely updated, new tile, new furniture, lots of storage, and sliding glass doors for entrance, a little sunny in the day, but shady in the afternoon. The high cabana ceilings are a great touch and make the room seem much larger.
Last time was C8 in the apartment looking building just above Shoreline Grill. This unit had a secure door that lead to a large wrap around balcony, then sliding glass doors all along the walls which were great for just opening and letting the breeze. This one had updated furniture, plenty of storage, a walk in shower with enough room to rinse off your snorkel/scuba gear. This unit is not on the top floor so you get shade from early afternoon on.
Can’t remember the other one we stated at, but all the rooms have been very good. I recommend starting every day coffee watching the sun rise over Tortola enjoying the nice breeze that comes off water bay. Shoreline has a great happy hour and reasonable prices, and there are a number of restaurants within walking distance at the adjacent resorts. If you want a more lively nightlife, M-Ville is right next door and a short walk.

Stayed in unit C-6 in September. The unit had a beautiful view with a wrap around porch. Very bright unit with a lot of windows. We ate in several times and the kitchen was stocked with what looked like new dishes and cookware, though couldn't find potholders. The staff was great with providing rides as needed to the main office, down to the main road (very steep hill leading to the resort - not walkable) and calling taxis. The resort has a lot of hills and stairs. Being close to Red Hook restaurants and the St. John ferry was a new experience, and we liked the more relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommend this resort and unit!

I loved this resort on previous visits, which granted were many years ago, so we dished out the enormous rates on Expedia and booked it 5 months ago. It wasn’t until we checked in that we were informed the owner of apparently ALL the food and bars on the resort had recently left. So they have NO FOOD and NO BEVERAGES. We were told at 6pm checkin that we could walk along the rocky beach path and through a little channel to get over to Margaritaville to eat……..after which it was dark to walk back. Everyone was friendly and sweet but the answer I got was that their website says the restaurants are closed. Only on the way to our room were we told that the lower pool is closed as well which was very disappointing to me. Our room was clean and the view was gorgeous, however having stayed prior I assumed upgrading to a villa would gain us the wrap around porch and glass view…..which was not the case. Bottom level and a little more blocked view than we preferred for the upgrade. The manager nicely did offer to move us the next day but we settled in and got groceries then we’re fine just being closer to the beach. I feel as if we should have been better informed prior to arrival. Whether booked through a third party or not, this was an expensive trip for us and this resort is pretty far out. Taxi rides killed us since we couldn’t hang out here, the resort didn’t offer anything in leiu of what we were missing. A refund of the upgrade to a villa would have been nice or a free shuttle to a grocery store or to Margaritaville even would have been something. Next time sadly I will book elsewhere and call to double check what to expect myself. But we did enjoy it and their little beach was fabulous! Just be more prepared and arrive earlier!
