Grounds, absolutely beautiful, amazing pool, clean big beach. This resort is located in a bay so the water is calm and there is plenty of shallow water to enjoy. There were plenty of chairs and lots of room to not feel crowded. Shade and sun spots and a nice area to snorkel off to the left, which my husband did and said it was good.
Check in and check out were seamless. Plenty of parking as we had rented a car, two nice restaurants on site. We got pizza one night and it was good/average. We enjoyed drinks at the fancy restaurant and drinks at the pool/beach bar. All of the staff was courteous, helpful and attentive. Even once we were stopped by security to verify we were guests at the resort which didn't bother us it actually made us feel good that this person was doing their job.
Location. This resort is located on the east end right by Red Hook. It's tucked back in a quieter area of the east end which is fantastic, close to the ferry, tons of restaurants and there is an abundant amount of other great beaches very close, like Sapphire, (busy beach) Lindquist $7 per person (quieter beach) and Coki, must see beaches with sparkling amazing water.
Rooms, here's where things get a little less desirable but by no means should it deter you from enjoying this resort. There are many many rooms. We ended up as far back as you could get. Now I did not request anything and I believe maybe I should of shared my thoughts at check in or made a few requests. Inside the kitchen was very well equipped. We had a full kitchen studio. Bath was large enough, had hot water, nice in room safe, washer and dryer (this was helpful) large kitchen, ice maker in the freezer, large patio, black out curtains, and a murphy bed. View so so due to us being as far back as you could go. This murphy bed was not very comfortable, at times it felt like your head was lower than your feet. We propped pillows to make it work. I feel like the mattresses might need to be upgraded. The only other thing that needs some work is you can hear the neighbors very easily. I was even woken by someone's cell phone alarm. I'm not sure if it's due to the murphy beds being in the wall or the fact that there were doors to other rooms on either side but that was a bit annoying.
Other than that this resort is 4 stars and definitely suits all travelers. We traveled as a couple and would go back to this resort without hesitation. We stayed a week and felt very at home. Thank you Elysian and St Thomas for the hospitality.

I was disappointed to not have a washer and dryer in our unit, but we were able to use the coin-operated machines in the laundry room. The "partial kitchen" and tiny refrigerator also meant we needed to eat more meals out as there wasn't capacity for much meal preparation. The rest of the unit was updated and spacious enough for the 2 of us. It was nice to have an air conditioned respite after the hot and humid outdoor adventures. The staff was friendly and helpful each day when we requested a taxi or had other needs.
The pool looked amazing although we never used it. We spent more time on the beach there at Cowpet Bay and enjoyed relaxing in the provided chairs. It was nice to have the pool bar a few steps away on the weekend too. Although it's not a great snorkeling site, the bay is a nice spot to cool off and watch the activities going on with the boats.
The Elysian was a good location for accessing Red Hook and the ferry to St. John, where we enjoyed some beautiful beaches and took a snorkel boat tour.
We went to the front desk and complained and exchanged vmails with the manager who never followed up. Also complained to night security that neighbors were in violation of "quiet policy" from 11pm to 7am, but to no avail. There is no concern here for guests. Front desk was not even apologetic and punted to the manager who was not available and unresponsive to calls.
On the positive side, beach was great. The standard studio king room was small but adequate. Red Hook location was pretty good. But for the price tag, it was the worst price-performance I have ever seen in my life (and I am an experienced traveler over 40+ years). Did not live up to a premium resort standard but priced at very high end. A better option would be a sleeping bag on their beach if you value a good night’s sleep. Seriously, would recommend you look elsewhere for a relaxing vacation with fair value for the money. I've had much better Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Ill experiences in my years of biz travel.

The resort is located on the eastern end of the island away from everything….you’re not in walking distance of anything. There’s no airport shuttle so you have to get a shared taxi to and from the airport which cost us $48 each way. It would benefit you to rent a car but driving over there can be challenging because of all the hills, mountains and winding roads. Very fee parts of the island is flat land. Taxi service charges per person riding and per luggage. Taxi to the closest grocery store was $9 each way.
The property is beautiful and well kept. The room was a good size and the kitchen was self sufficient. I especially loved having a washer and dryer in the room. The pool was beautiful, not your typical shape with a volley ball net over an area in it. It has a bunker area you can sit in to avoid the sun. There is also a hot tub area. Don't be too alarmed if you see iguanas strolling around the pool or the property. There are two restaurant on the property. Sangria, a bistro type bar restaurant and the Caribbean Fish Market restaurant. Both restaurants were pricey.
There is a beach area but we didn’t use it because the seaweed was piled up in mounds along the waters edge to about two feet up the sand on the beach and in the the water. The tractor came along and attempted to clear it away but was unsuccessful. On our last day it mostly cleared itself away.
I want to send a special thank you to Elysian's concierge, Moy. Moy was personable and assisted our group with arranging excursions and finding different restaurants to enjoy. He was able to arrange a driving Jeep Tour on short notice. He sent a message to Ms Lisa of Jamming Jeeps at 930pm and by 11pm, Ms Lisa had our group booked for an 11am tour for the following day. Our group was very grateful for Moy's hospitality and kindness. Elysian, you have a good employee, so take good care of him.
I also want to thank D'Ambassador at the Caribbean Fish Market. He made our group feel welcomed on our first night in St Thomas and throughout our stay. His name suits him well.

Thank you to Kenoi and the entire team who elevate the peace and luxury of a stay at Elysian to even greater heights.
