We have stayed before at Golden Rock. In recent years it has been impressively upgraded whilst retaining its plantation house charm. The gardens are awesome. Straight out of the set of Jurassic Park. The conch chowder and lobster were outstanding. A little off the beaten track, but worth every penny.

Like another reviewer we stopped here as part of an island tour. We weren't going to have lunch but when we saw how magnificent this newly restored property was and having seen the menu there was only one thing to do! Two of the four of us had a superb clam chowder which was subtly spiced with pepper and ginger.... More

On the advice of the local manager,we went here for lunch and as she told us, it takes a couple of hours to adequately tour the grounds. They are marvelous. The vegetation is amazing and the groundskeeper is a true artist. The lunch was extremely good. We had their special lobster sandwich, which is worth the trip alone. It gives... More

We dropped in to Golden Rocks as part of the Nevis Heritage trail whilst driving around the island. So we didn't stay at the hotel. What I can say is that the gardens are superb, excellently kept, naturalistic layout amongst the hotels chalets/cottages. In many ways more of a Botanical Garden than the Botanical Gardens on Nevis!

A few days for a getaway at the golden rock inn, Nevis. Chartered a boat from Rasta beach and grabbed a rental car over on Nevis. Sarah-Ann greeted us at this old plantation - fed us a rum punch and showed us to our room - a separate cottage set up on the hill, boho chic with african textiles and... More

Our return to Nevis and Golden Rock was much anticipated, having visited three years ago and hopes ran high. Truly, this was a return to paradise. Nevis is relaxed, with no crowding nor 'tourists'. Golden Rock is the quintessential place to get away from it all with absolutely stunningly beautiful grounds and a fantastic restaurant, all set in a three... More

We went to Nevis for a couple of days to explore the island. When we checked into this inn I did not want to leave. This place has the most beautiful gardens set in an historic plantation with a great indoor/outdoor restaurant. It was so beautiful, peaceful and serine! I did leave to explore Nevis but always could not wait... More

Goldern Rock is a beautifully landscaped property, with a full restaurant and a few (6?) rooms for stay-over visitors. The property is still evolving but what is already established is the best designed and put together tropical garden that I've visited. It's over several acres, with winding walking tracks lined with beautiful collections of plants and flowering shrubs; there are... More

The property is absolutely stunning! It's like walking onto a movie set with picturesque views and sounds of nature that you just can't get in the States. Although BEAUTIFUL the actual food was just okay. I ordered lemon shuffle pancakes. It came with two dry pieces of bacon. My friend ordered an omelet with a side of meat and hash... More

Every last detail of Golden Rock is beautiful, and clearly considered. Each nook, cranny, and color choice is delectable in its own right - the whole package is just incredible. The staff is warm and helpful - every interaction was a pleasure! You could spend quadruple the price for lodging/breakfast at the Four Seasons (also nice but a bit cookie... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Gentle trade winds and dramatic Caribbean vistas set the stage for a visit to Golden Rock Inn. A former sugar estate dating back to the early 1800's, the property has been thoughtfully restored through the eyes of New York artists Helen and Brice Marden. Set on 100 acres stretching up the slopes of Nevis Peak, this boutique property has eleven guest rooms and private cottages, including the unique Sugar Mill Suite. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens designed by the owners with Miami landscape architect Raymond Jungles, the inn is an escape embraced with birds' songs and the rustling of bamboo. Guest rooms have either king or twin beds, which can be joined together to create a king. The unique Sugar Mill Suite has an oversized king bed upstairs, with full bath, and 2 twins downstairs with full bath. This accomodation is suitable for 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. ... more   less
