Bitter End Yacht Club is a family-owned island outpost known for its historical charm and is accessible only by sea, attracting travelers and yachting enthusiasts from around the globe for over 50 years. Located on the protected waters of North Sound on the perennially top ranked Caribbean Island of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, the quintessential destination is a sailing and watersports mecca, thanks to its near perfect year-round sailing conditions, eternal sunshine, and crystal-blue waters. Known for its casual, communal atmosphere and robust activity programs, Bitter End is a favorite destination for couples, families, and groups, many of whom return year-after-year. Laid low in 2017’s Hurricane Irma, the iconic resort rebounded with a historic reopening in December, 2021. Bitter End's Marina Lofts are the BVI's only over the water bungalows. Cantilevered over the Caribbean Sea, the Marina Lofts are built for those who desire to sleep at the water’s edge. Vintage sail lofts inspire these maritime hideaways, blending seamlessly with their surroundings; lofts are tailor-made for those who are called to the sea. Remaining true to Bitter End’s heritage, the lofts are built with sustainable, organic materials. Interiors are intentionally simple and open to the environment, filled with the sights and sounds of the sea. The two-story, timber-clad lofts offer unparalleled panoramic views of the North Sound from private terraces on both the first and second floors. Tie up your kayak, paddleboard, or whaler right to your private dock before stepping inside your blissful, eco-friendly escape, with each loft enjoying cooling sea breezes thanks to steady trade winds. With the largest marina in the BVI, a world-renowned Club Fleet and watersports program, Bitter End Yacht Club is a haven for boaters and watersports enthusiasts from around the globe. The Quarterdeck Marina boasts 26 slips and 70 mooring balls. In addition to the marina, the Bitter End welcomes guests to a vibrant nautical village. With multiple shops, restaurants, bars, a gourmet market for provisioning and a mile of shoreline, Bitter End Yacht Club is one of the most popular ports of call in the Caribbean.

Wonder beach bar in the salvage sailboat was a precious touch. Staff was very friendly. The drinks were hand crafted and amazing. They have done a wonderful job with the rebuilt! Don’t miss this out of this experience! Fun beach games for all ages.

We were visiting Saba Rock and ended up at BEYC for lunch. Everything was so incredibly good. We were looked after exceptionally well by Dorne in the restaurant. Cocktails, food and service could not be faulted. Dorne was friendly, courteous and very accommodating. The facilities are extremely nice and the location is idyllic. Our first visit, hopefully not our last. We will definitely want to return when we’re next in the BVI. Thank you

The Bitter End is back! You can’t find a more stunning location. The hospitality and service are better than ever. The boat bar is lots of fun and the new buildings are lovely. The marina store is upgraded, carrying a nice selection of groceries and adult beverages. Go ashore for a few hours of family fun and water sports, or stay, like we did in one of the new, on-the-water cabins. We look forward to going back when they have the hillside rooms completed.

Room Tip: The one-the-water cabins are an excellent option for a night off your boat in a comfy bed.

Well, this being my first time to the BVI and Virgin Gorda, I was VERY impressed! The Bitter End Yacht Club was exactly what I was hoping it would be! It definitely had the feel of being on an island with lots of laughing and people thoroughly enjoying themselves! It was a bit windy, so not many decided to go sit at the bar at the end of the restaurant. We did, and we had the best service from our bartender. I'm sorry I didn't get her name. She made a great pineapple, jalapeno margarita! I believe it is called the Buoy Room. We ordered the red snapper ceviche and conch fritters. Both were excellent, and the service was fast and friendly. I wish we would've come back during the day, but we were so pleased with the nighttime service! I hope I will be back many more times in my lifetime!

During our trip in the BVI, the BEYC was a highlight. The newly built areas are wonderful! We sat at the Quarter Deck where you bring your own coffee or drink. Beautiful! Then ordered drinks at the bar and sat on the patio tables with an amazing view of the bay. Walked around to see the new villas they are currently building. Then topped it off with a wonderful dinner at the Buoy restaurant! Amazing fish, best jerk chicken ever, and a key lime pie unlike any other! Go!!

On Christmas Day, our party of 8 inquired about dinner at the restaurant. There were three different menus throughout the day with dinner beginning at 6:00. Reservations were suggested but not required. We went to the restaurant at 5:40 and were told they could not seat us due to being filled with reservations for the evening. At 5:40, only one party of 4 was seated with the rest of the restaurant empty. I asked if we could sit at the bar and was told no, that’s also filled with reservations. Almost 6:00, we were told we could order pizza to go. We should have been able to order this seated off their 3:00-6:00 menu. The bartender stepped in and took our pizza orders. After waiting quite awhile, she came over to where we were sitting to tell us our pizzas were ready. They were not boxed and I asked about that. The bartender suggested we sit at the bar and eat. I told her I was told that was not possible. The bartender was very surprised, said that was not true and invited us to the bar. After that, we had an enjoyable night at the bar. The bartender, Josie, was awesome!! We left at 7:45 and there were 5 tables of 4, complete with table ware and lit candles, that were never filled the entire time we were there. It was clear that the restaurant staff were not all on the same page. Josie, the bartender, saved the evening!!

In thinking about our lunch at Bitter End, I was wondering whether it was our worst dining experience in 20 years, 40 years, or ever. We were a large group, 13 adults, but there were other large family groups at the same time. In order to save time, we had emailed our food order ahead of time and the staff acknowledged that they had received it. By the end of the first hour, one of our group still had not received his drink. The waitress had filled three quarters of the water glasses. The wait staff was disorganized and seemingly confused much of the time. After an hour and 20 minutes, still without food or additional water. one of our party went to the club store and bought water bottles so that we could refill (or fill) our glasses. Food started to come in fits and starts. By the two hour mark, with four of us still without food, I went to the food prep area and complained for the second time. The head guy said, "I'm sorry but we are really busy." I refrained from getting into a discussion about scaling the number of reservations to the capacity of the kitchen. The chicken sandwich and the brisket were very good, the pizza was doughy and almost inedible. We won't be going back.

We stayed in the marina. The grounds were beautiful. We had drinks at beach bar, hung on the beautiful beach. We ate at the restaurant. The pizza was awesome. The large fish hanging around the pier at night was a real sight. The restaurant had pool tables and was a fun hang out. A jewelry lady came around in a boat and we bought some nice pieces-- very reasonable prices.

We have just returned from our second stay at BEYC. It was every bit as good as our first, last year. This is an exceptional location staffed by exceptional people! The food and service were wonderful. The beachfront water activities were varied with well maintained equipment. You can do as much or as little as you would like here. Perhaps the best thing is the sense of privacy and rest you can obtain here.

I recently sailed into North Sound with engine trouble after 14 days at sea. I was greeted by the staff or the Quarter Deck at the Bitter End and promptly towed into the dock and given all the information I needed to get my boat up and running again. I found the facilities top notch and very Caribbean!!! They have kept the Bitter End just the way it should be, a truly Caribbean resort. All the shops and places to eat make it feel like it's own little village. The staff were all great and very helpful. I will be back again and again.
