Best sangria I’ve ever had. Sat at a table by the water and ordered a white sangria. Filled with lots of fresh fruit and was amazing! Waitress even brought us a free round of their local rum to try. Definitely a must stop if you’re in the area. Thank you!!!

I spent 2 days and nights at Sebastian’s and was looking for a place where I could just relax for a couple of days after a week on a sailboat. I had booked a beachfront room so that it would be simple to walk out for a quick swim whenever I felt like it.
The first problem was that instead of putting me in a beachfront room, they put me in one of their “cliffside” rooms. The cliffside rooms are perched on a low cliff overlooking a rocky shore — no simple walk out to the beach. I should have complained about this and demanded the type of room I had booked, but I was feeling very tired and just wanted to take a nap. So . . . I guess it’s as much my fault as theirs.
The cliffside rooms also have an inconvenient location. You have to walk uphill for about 150 yards on the main highway and then down a rough, uneven and unlit side street to get to your room. It’s frankly an unsafe arrangement, particularly when walking back to your room after dinner, with the risk of the traffic on the main highway and the risk of tripping in the dark on the side street.
There are no phones in the rooms, which makes it difficult to reach the office / front desk if you need anything. I could never get through to them on my own phone. The hotel recommends using email, but it was rare that they would respond to an email.
Maintenance leaves something to be desired. Both the bathroom sink and bathtub have a lever or shaft to open an close the drains. In my room the drains would close but wouldn’t reopen. I had to get the maintenance team to stop by to fix the problem. (But then recall the problems in contacting the front office.)
On the plus side, the staff are friendly and the food in the restaurant is good.

Response from Jake Barnes, Owner at Sebastian's on the Beach
Responded 29 Nov 2021
Thank you for your review of our property. I am very sorry to hear that you were unhappy about your room. Many of our guests do actually prefer to stay in the cliffside rooms as they are larger and more private, so it's really a matter of personal opinion. Regardless, if you had made your issues known to management, I have every confidence that they would have done whatever they could to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

First, the pros,
Beautiful location- great view of pitons and rolling surf. If you are a surfer, nice wave action just to the left of the resort. Intersecting waves make for point breaks. Large pebble entry - no sand, no beach.
If you are looking for a good meal at typical BVI prices - good little bar-resto, very nice staff. Try the jerked chicken Caesar!
The rooms - better than basic. Clean, nicely appointed.
What they didn’t mention: on the website
No diving or snorkelling here - you are on the wrong side of the mountain. See ‘waves’, above - serious rip/ traverse currents to contend with, not for the inexperienced.
Access road - abysmal. A 10 meter section (the entire left hand lane , descending) had just collapsed down the mountainside. Narrow, multiple hairpin switchbacks. Truly dangerous.
You are about as far from the airport as you can get. Expect 1 hour taxi ride - pricey.
If there is any action in the bar, don’t plan on resting in your room between 1800 and 2130 or so. I was there Saturday night. All of the rooms are quite close to the bar where you can easily follow along with bingo callouts for most of the evening. What the house sound system lacks in subtlety it makes up for in volume . There is no soundproofing worth mentioning in your room, so it’s easy to keep track of the proceedings.
In between bingo sessions, you get continuous disco music - be ready to sing along to Disco Inferno , Born to Be Alive and other timeless classics from whatever bedroom you happen to be sleeping in….and then, there is the karaoke.
Keep in mind it was Saturday night. May be dead quiet every other night of the week
That having been said, Main Street runs right by your room . Expect the occasional random 7000 rpm two-stroke drivebys .
So - if you are surfing, or enjoy good food, good rooms and watching the rollers, and are ok with the road and distance from the airport, great place.

We stayed for one night between Christmas and New Years in what was supposed to be a “Mountain View Double”. When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to a cliff side room. The upgraded room was one bed and a pulled out couch. As a family of 4, we prefer 2 beds which is why we booked the room we did. The upgraded room was also quite far down the road and since we were travelling with children we decided we would rather stick with the room we originally booked. Problem was, the room that we booked had clearly been given to someone else even though we had booked 2 months in advance. We ended up in what I think was a “Tropical Double” but for the price of the Mountain View Double.
We travel to the British Virgin Islands often and were disappointed with the stay due to being charged for a superior room and being given a basic room. We feel we should have been charged accordingly if our room type had changed.
The bingo night was fun and the food in the restaurant was decent. Staff was friendly.

We stayed at Sebastions after deciding to come to Tortola at the last minute. We upgraded to the King suite that was literally right on the beach, in fact we had to close the door in the night because the surf was too loud. Great problem to have. Lol. The beach was beautiful white sand and although a little tricky to get in was very swimmable. There were stones just where the waves broke. Anyway the place was great and the staff were wonderful.
Now we knew nothing about Tortola and most reviews we read were from people that have spent a lot of time there. So if you're staying at Sebastions or probably anywhere get a car. It costs about 50 bucks to get a taxi from the airport and at least 25 bucks wherever you go. The roads are interesting but the drivers are courteous. We wanted to see the other islands but found there was so much to do on Tortola that we will wait til next time and rent a boat for the day.

Slow service, wrong orders and a general lack of caring. We went to about 10 different restaurants while on vacation and Sebastian's was without a doubt the worst. The location is great as you can sit and stare at a beautiful beach, but the service and food were below average.

We returned to Sebastian’s after a 10 year absence. While we enjoyed the updated room and the beachside surf, we found that the restaurant was no longer the wonderful dining experience of our previous stays.
After a two day stay ahead of a sail charter, we inadvertently left some personal clothing items in our room. The packing case had an Apple Air Tag in it. Even though we called the hotel management within 24 hours and returned to the hotel, the case and clothing were not returned to Lost and Found, but our Air Tag continues to emit from an inaccessible spot on the property. Management was less than helpful and only offered excuses. This was not the service we expected from this establishment. We were very disappointed.
Sadly, after four previous stays, while we love the beach, the vibe and the rum, at this point we won’t be returning.

I have come here off and on for 30 years
It’s like a low budget cruise ship on land only expensive. Every other night is bingo night or karaoke night an Easter Sunday they had disco blasting all day. I used to love this place
But they have gone low class are all the while raising rates. If you’re going to pay 350 to 400 and night I highly suggest you go to long bay or Sugarmill. The south is still great they’re very nice people management has lost their minds. Who goes to the Caribbean to play bingo or listen to bad voices singing karaoke or who wants to sit on the beach on Easter Sunday with a bass drum blasting away. A motel six for Westin prices

Don't trust the photos and don't expect much. Beach doesn't exist and there is little to do at this Resort during the day. Nothing nearby. So, a beach side room is a walk out to a sandy landing on top of a seawall. Night events are fun and the restaurant is descent. Staff is very nice. Other Guests are questionable here... smell of pot and people smoking cigars permeates throughout. Rooms are run down but clean. AC worked great. Taxi to get anywhere isn't exactly cheap.

Markets itself as a hotel by the beach, but there is no beach, only huge waves and rocks and because of the winds (which are almost always the same in strength and direction in the Caribbean) it blows crazy much at this hotel.
The staff were incredibly slow and rude.
The rooms were clean and comfortable.

No, it's in Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands. It's near Cane Garden Bay. There is not currently a ferry from the west end to St. Thomas, so you have to go to Road Town and take the ferry to Red Hook in St. Thomas.
