my wife and I have returned to this property over and over again over the past decade (we just returns from #6, our first with our son). wonderful rooms, friendly and helpful service, wonderful views, very convenient location to both the best beaches and best restaurants on the island
What a beautiful hotel. I think it’s one of the best in Saint Martin. The facility and services were excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I loved the convenient location close to all of the great restaurants in Grande Case.
Even better the second time around My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful week early in 2022 in St. Martin at the L’Esplanade, enjoying the hotel, the Grand Case restaurants, and various nearby beaches. We decided to return, but with the small nagging concern of whether the sequel could be as good. Well, happy to report a resounding yes. The hotel remains immaculate, the service delightful, and the ambiance serene. What I wrote last year still applies, so that is pasted below. But I want to add one story that may help explain what makes L’Esplanade so special and stress-free (and we are not the only ones, many of the other guests also had been to the hotel before): The hotel does not cater to business meetings. But work did intrude, and I unexpectedly received several documents that I needed to have printed so I could sign, scan and return them for a time-sensitive transaction. Without a fuss, and with smiles all-around, the hotel staff helped me with all of this in a manner faster and more efficiently than in the typical upscale hotel business center. What I expected to be a hassle instead has become another story to tell about how this property and its team continually makes being here wonderful. (And I had my executed documents completed well before those of the rest of my far-flung colleagues). If you want to start each day with a smile and end it the same way, head to the L’Esplanade. A week to repeat The property is beautiful and perfectly maintained, plenty of space at the pool, Frank who works at the pool is a wonderful bartender in all of the best ways, the breakfast, while simple is a great start to the day, the rooms spacious, balconies are comfortable and private, all of the staff were great, we were given endless help with arranging and then rearranging dinner and other plans that got us where we wanted to eat when we wanted to eat, and for us the location was perfect. We hope to return soon. Only suggestion is we had a rental car and recommend it. Driving is easy, lots of spots worth visiting during the day, and I hate to admit we drove to the Grand Case restaurants at night as parking was easy either in the free lot for the town or a smaller, free lot that partnered with several of the restaurants we were eating at. …
"If you're looking for a luxurious getaway with a side of canine companionship, look no further than Hotel L'Esplanade in St. Martin. The rooms are top-notch, the views are breathtaking, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The food and drink selection is impressive and the pool is the perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun. Plus, the location is ideal for those looking to indulge in some delicious restaurants. And let's not forget about the added bonus of being able to use the amenities at the sister hotel, Le Petit. The beach there is fantastic and the kayaks are a blast. But the real stars of the show are the hotel dogs, Jacque and Stout. Not only are they adorable, but Jacque even followed my wife into town and walked back with her. It's like having your own personal tour guide! Overall, Hotel L'Esplanade is paws-itively perfect."…
Another spectacular trip to Hotel L'Esplanade. This is a boutique hotel that has a personal touch! Everything is perfect including the bed linens. We arrived to music playing in our room and lovely little goodies for the quests. Each room is appointed with gorgeous ocean view. The rooms are immaculate and so comfortable. Each room has a kitchen so If you want to make yourself breakfast, lunch or dinner you can. The good news is the little fishing village offers amazing fine French dining. I did yoga in a beautiful yoga space which is complementary. The yoga instructor was very experienced. The pool temperature is on point and the bar tender and drinks are AMAZING. Please visit, you won't regret it.
I almost feel bad reading everybody else’s reviews about how they love this hotel and “it’s the best in the world”, for us, it really wasn’t. We’re very well travelled but then so seem to be most of the reviewers here, we don’t get it. I’ll begin with the negatives; on arrival there was nobody to assist with our luggage, I’ve had two major spinal operations and really struggled to get the cases to the room - I’ve never experienced that at ANY hotel we’ve stayed at in the last 25 years (maybe before that when we stayed at lower class hotels and I honestly don’t remember). Breakfast wasn’t great, well not after a few days - the croissants were delicious but that was it really, we had a baguette a couple of days and didn’t bother on others. The yoghurts and fruit were average and the coffee just ok, I really can’t understand why some people say it’s great, I’m bemused. Picking up breakfast and taking it back to the room is not something I’m used to or want, I understand that people are saying the view is spectacular but you’re quite a way from the sea. Maybe it’s because every Caribbean holiday we’ve had previously has been right on the beach or maybe it’s the planes loudly departing and arriving immediately to our left that broke the spell if there ever was one.? We also found that reception staff were largely a little cool compared to where we’ve stayed before, we just didn’t get the friendly vibe for some reason. Not everybody, there’s a very friendly and helpful young man whose name eludes me. A particularly annoying thing was that we were promised a bottle of champagne in our room on our anniversary and we looked forward to continuing our celebration only to find a very cheap bottle of Prosecco that we discarded after a few sips. A real damp squib. The pool was a letdown, smaller than we’d anticipated but I accept that most hotel photos are taken from the most advantageous angle so I accept that. The biggest issue was that the pool wasn’t clean enough, there were often various insects both alive and dead in there and the water didn’t look or feel clean and swimming is very important to keeping my back pain at bay. I wasn’t the first to comment on the pool, hardly anybody got in there more than once all the time we were there. Our final “gripe” which leads into our first positive, is the time that the pool bar (only bar) closes every evening, 7pm seems ridiculous to us and many we spoke to including some guests from other hotels that popped in. We really missed coming back for a drink or two after our evening meal. The bar generally was a godsend, the guys working there are absolutely amazing, Alan, Frank and Francesca were shining lights and kept us laughing all the time we were there, we truly felt they were friends by the time we left and are a credit to the hotel. The rooms are large, airy and well furnished and the bed was very comfortable. The a/c worked very well and kept us cool all week. We would’ve liked a plug in mosquito repellant, more of which later. The grounds at the hotel are immaculately kept and the main strip with all the restaurants and bars just a few minutes away. One problem with such lush greenery though is the number of mosquitos around, we spent a couple of afternoons in particular slapping our arms and legs repeatedly such was the amount of times we were bitten (over 100 bites between us by the time we left). Maybe fogging daily would help, we were definitely not the only couple suffering and of course we slathered various repellants on every day/evening. Certainly the unusually wet humid weather didn’t help, again we’ve never been bitten like that anywhere we’ve stayed before - clearly not the fault of the hotel. We didn’t let any negatives spoil our very special anniversary but we certainly wouldn’t return. We loved Jack the dog and filming the iguanas and bush crabs for our young grandkids and it’s obviously wonderful for the vast majority of guests that bother to review but I guess you can’t please all of the people all of the time..…
An amazing hotel with the best views in Grand Case. Beautiful rooms with private balconies., with kitchenette for easy meals if you need /want to eat in. And an easy walk to the best restaurants in the Caribbean.
Exceptional Vacation Experience! From the moment we stepped out of the taxi and entered the airy boutique hotel lobby, my husband and I knew we had chosen the right place to chill and experience St. Martin - the warm welcome from staff, the chilled champagne in. our room (it was my birthday so they gifted us with this), and the beautiful room, even more lovely than the photos. We spent 11 nights at L'Esplanade and enjoyed every moment - the days began with our personalized breakfast tray and excellent coffee on our balcony overlooking Grand Case, chilling by the pool where Frank, Francesca, or Alan were pouring tropical drinks to cool you off and they grilled some tasty lunches for guests - from shrimp salad to cheese burgers. We rented a car for some of our trip and found St. Martin to be easy and safe to get around. The hotel staff helped us arrange rental cars, restaurant reservations, etc...The best meals we had were on restaurant row in Grand Case, a very short and pleasant walk from the L'Esplanade. One of our many favorite things about the hotel (as well as all other guests) was having the company of Jack and Stout, the awesome dogs that belong to the owners of the hotel. They are great company and Jack loves to stroll down to restaurant row with guests on morning and afternoon walks into town. If you want an easy, breezy, relaxing and memorable vacation experience book a stay at Hotel L'Esplanade. We'll be returning at some point, which says it all! Thank you to the owners and staff at L'Esplanade!…
We have been coming here more times than I can count over close to 20 years! The vibe, the staff, the view, the accommodations speaks for itself! We prefer the French side because it's less commercial and quieter. Although, we still enjoy Dutch side as well. GC is our little haven. I wake up and enjoy coffee on that lovely balcony every morning looking at that beautiful blue bay. Can't go wrong!
Our first stay and we intend to return. Lovely staff. Beautiful accommodations. Near excellent restaurants. Away from the hustle and bustle of the Dutch side. Pool is lovely and serene. Yoga on site. We fully intend to return.
