Embark on a transformative journey. Ladera sits on the volcanic ridge between the two Pitons of Saint Lucia. We are the only resort located on the extraordinary 18-acre UNESCO World Heritage Site. Immersed in the rainforest with sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea, we are Green Globe certified. Ladera is completely sustainable and hand-crafted by local artisans from local hardwoods, stone and clays. Every suite at Ladera is unique and has a heated private plunge pool and an awe-inspiring view of the Pitons courtesy of our stunning open-wall design. Experience the breathtaking closeness of the Pitons from our award-winning restaurant Dasheene. Here our Executive Chef Nigel Mitchell imaginatively crafts St Lucian-inspired farm-to-table dishes from produce sourced from gardens right here on property. Guests often remark that the greatest treasure at Ladera is our staff, whose sincere warmth and service excellence make you feel like family.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I celebrated or 20th wedding anniversary at Ladera in June. Before I get into it, I’ll say that we absolutely LOVE Ladera. It’s probably the best vacation experience I ever had and we would go back in a heart beat.
Pros:
The view was jaw dropping. We booked a Paradise Ridge Suite, and the hotel even upgraded our room since it was our 20th wedding anniversary which was such a nice surprise. The hotel literally has the best view of the Pitons on the entire island, so any room you pick will have a spectacular view. Not to mention, there was a constant flurry of hummingbirds and butterflies outside our room which added another level to the experience.
The room was incredible. Among so many amazing features, the open wall concept, the rain shower and the plunge pool were the standouts. Also loved that the rustic design of the rooms feel like they borrow a lot of inspiration from the island.
Staff was awesome. Super friendly, outgoing and helpful. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel like you are special. You also get personal butler service for your room. The resort gives you a mobile phone when you arrive specifically for this service - anything you needed was just a call away. Unreal.
The hotel grounds were amazing. The concept feels like it’s trying to be a natural extension of the island. Flower gardens, a tree house, hammock lounge areas, workout and game rooms and a really nice hiking trail with stunning views - all located privately on the grounds.
Not cons, but stuff to consider:
Airport customs line takes about a hour. The drive to the resort is about 45 minutes. It also takes about 30/45 minutes to get checked in, get to your room, get bags, have your concierge take you through the way things work, all that. So just be prepared that even when you land, it’s going to be a while before you’re dipping your toes in your plunge pool.
The hotel is not beach front. They have a free shuttle to two beaches. Malgretoute beach is free and Ladera has shuttles running to and from it most of the day. You can get buy food and drinks and rent lounge chairs there. It’s cheaper but it’s not that pretty of a beach. Ladera will take you to Sugar Beach Resort as well, which is a significantly more beautiful beach, better food and chairs/umbrellas, but expensive - about $75 per lounge chair. Not to mention, Ladera only runs a pick up shuttle till around 1. So if you want to stay longer, you’ll have to arrange a cab. Still, I would reco this beach over Magratoute.
Food at the resort is good but not great and a little pricey. But they have a sizable breakfast menu which is free. Hotel Rabot across the street has restaurant called Hotel Chocolat that is amazing and is within a short walking distance. Reservations required.
Ladera seems more tailored to those looking to disconnect and get away from it all. The dinners at the restaurant were pretty quiet and you rarely saw people on the grounds unless you were heading out to catch a shuttle for an excursion. A very secluded and tranquil vibe. This was exactly what we were looking for. If you’re looking for a more lively social scene, I might consider another resort.
The bugs are a lot. But that’s the compromise with having an open air room on an island. The resort does a good job of minimizing how much you notice them; mosquito nets on the bed, daily cleaning service, citronella candles. We got used to them. But just make sure to keep your food and drinks covered, suitcases and bags closed and keep the mosquito net closed fully at night.
Tipping is a big factor. The island economy heavily depends on tourism dollars and everyone on the island is looking for tips, especially outside the resort - from airport baggage handlers, to cabdrivers to tour guides, etc. My only issue was that there is no set standard for tips on the island. We brought $300 in cash (residents prefer U.S. dollars) and we burned through that midweek. The hotel credited us more cash but it was in EC currency which was difficult to calculate. Including hotel staff, cab rides, restaurants, island excursions, etc, we probably spent $500 in tips for a 6-night stay. The resort will tell you “tip what you feel is fair” but I would reco doing some research beforehand and agreeing to what, who and how much you will tip before you go.
Excursions - the resort recommends the Sulpher Springs tour: mud bath, waterfall and botanical gardens. Was decent. We liked the waterfall and botanical tour parts much better than the mud bath part (too many people). Beyond that, we just lounged at the beaches most of the time. But there are a ton of other excursions to pick from, and the hotel helps set them up for you.
Again, these are not cons, just things I would have liked to know before going. Overall, Ladera is everything we wanted in an island vacation and more. We can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely beautiful resort. Every aspect of Ladera is beautiful from the rooms to the gardens and of course the views.
The open air rooms were a new experience for my wife and I but we truly fell in love with them. Especially at night, you feel as if you’re “camping” amongst the Pitons.
The view of the Pitons is what the stay is all about. The resort is nestled on a ridge tucked right between Gros and Petit Piton giving you a beautiful view at all times of the day.
The location also places you very close to the Gros Piton hiking trail, sulfur volcano, and waterfall. All of which should be explored. Sugar beach (viewable from your room) is also a short bus ride away.
One thing to keep in mind if traveling to Sugar beach is that Ladera does not have a presence on said beach. The beach is open to anyone but the chairs and loungers are for Viceroy guests only. Also expect to be solicited to partake in boat rides, snorkeling and cave viewing by some locals near the beach. The solicitation is not a negative and they have a lot to offer at a really good price, all of the above for $80-100 and 4 hours.
We found ourselves the most happy while just sitting in our room/private pool taking in the beautiful views and soaking up the sun.
We would recommend Ladera one thousand times over, even if you were to only stay a couple of days. Be prepared to spend some extra money if you plan to do any excursions or trips through Ladera, but we found it to be worth it.
Spend the money, it’s worth the view alone.

My wife and I have been to Ladera several times now and this trip started off a little bumpy compared to past visits, almost entirely due to hurricane Elsa rolling through the week prior. Since issues with our suite were discovered on day one, we reluctantly brought them to the attention of the staff. Hotel occupancy was full and we offered to accept a level of suite down from what we had reserved. That was unacceptable to this 5 star staff though, who ended up putting us in a better suite that when we had arrived.
That is what sets Ladera apart in my opinion. They're going to do whatever it takes to make sure you have a great stay. Our suite, PR2, was flawless. The service was flawless. Dinner at Dasheene can take a while, the first night dinner took over an hour and a half between ordering and arriving. But the dinner is outstanding and arrives hot.
The resort is so unique and in such a perfect location. Other than maybe Jade Mountain, this is the premier couples resort on the island and the service matches that description. With some very competitive airbnb's close by, it's important Ladera keeps living up to these high standards and they absolutely went above and beyond on this trip. A personal greeting at checkout by the General Manager Mr. Gandara showed us how they value their guests and had us looking forward to coming back and glad we are a part of the Ladera family.

My husband and I just had a five night stay at Ladera for our honeymoon and it could not have been any more amazing. The resort is exquisite and the views are truly unbelievable. The staff is beyond attentive - everywhere we went, they knew who we were, and were there to assist us. Every day the staff would check in to make sure we had everything we needed and would make our dinner reservation! We could not have felt more comfortable traveling during covid - everything is outside given the warm temperature and the rooms have their own private pools! The staff all wore masks as well and sanitizers were set up around the property. There were also temperature checks We have never been so well taken care of, and the staff at Ladera were the friendliest people. Everyone was incredible, we even met the chef and general manager who went out of his way to make sure we had a great stay. The food was also unbelievable, every dish for breakfast, lunch and dinner was delicious. Many of the ingredients were locally sourced too. And you still have an amazing view from the restaurant between both pitons. Yvette at the front desk made us feel right at home. The hike on the property had a great view from the top. Our stay was worth every penny. Did I mention the private pool overlooking the water?! We will definitely make a return to Ladera one day!

My wife and I stayed at Ladera for 4 nights. The property is stunning and a wonderful place to get some r&r. We stayed in room U, which I believe is a “standard” room. The view from the room included both Pitons and was, without exaggeration, the most beautiful view from a hotel I’ve ever seen (and my wife and I have been lucky to stay at some beautiful places around the world). The room was spacious, clean, and surprisingly not buggy given that you’re effectively outdoors the entire stay! And of course the plunge pool is fun to have. Breakfast each morning, which is included with the room, was quite good. And we very much enjoyed hanging out by the public pool area. All featured amazing views.
The cons include the following:
- It’s very expensive. We paid $700/night including taxes and fees, and it felt like we got a relatively good deal, though we wondered the whole time whether others had some secret way of staying cheaper! That said, it appears to be less expensive still than sugar beach and jade mountain, so perhaps that’s just the cost of doing business in beautiful st Lucia.
- Dashene (the only option for dinner at the hotel) is very expensive and very mediocre. We would suggest eating there no more than once, if at all, during your stay. The restaurant at Boucan (hotel chocolate) right across the street was far superior, and so was Bayside at Sugar Beach (and all were similar or even lower price point than Dashene).
- the staff, while perfectly friendly and nice, were not particularly helpful when it came to trip planning. There appear to be a handful of excursions / activities they are perhaps contractually obligated to suggest and they appear unable or unwilling to provide any other recommendations. So just be prepared to do a little more homework than you’d expect from a hotel at this pricepoint.
Overall, though, we loved our stay in St Lucia and recommend Ladera for sure!

WOW!! Ladera calls itself a Romantic Paradise, and lives up to it in every aspect. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the gazebo by Tanisha, with cold towels and a refreshing cold beverage, while we watched dozens of hummingbirds flutter about. She made us feel welcome and special as she congratulated us on our marriage, apologized for a minor delay with our transportation, and offered a complimentary upgrade to make it right! Wow! She guided us to the Hilltop Dream suites, and showed us our room for the next 3 nights! The view was breathtaking and the room was pristine with lots of hand carved hardwood touches. Vianney came to the room with a bottle of champagne and a beautiful fruit plate. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, we ordered lunch in our room every day so we could chat with him.
The restaurant is beautiful and the service was superb every time. We went for breakfast twice and dinner twice, and ate all other meals in the room with V- he really made the trip special. While expensive, the quality of the food and the service match the price.
The housekeeping service was top notch. Everyday when we returned from exploring the room had been cleaned and bed made. Again, everyday when we returned from dinner they had come to turn down the bed and left a sweet treat on the pillows.
We took their shuttle down to the beach one afternoon and were able to snorkel and relax, only a few locals fishing and the rest of the beach was ours.
We also really enjoyed the hiking trails on property and were glad we went all the way up to the viewing platform. I really appreciated all the benches and swings to stop and take a rest on the way.
Yvette helped us book a boat tour with Feel Good water tours and we had a blast! She even arranged for a bottle of champagne and glasses on board since we were celebrating our honeymoon.
Ladera was the perfect place to honeymoon and they far exceeded our expectations in every way.

My wife and I cannot put into words how amazing our time at Ladera was but we’ll try. From the moment we booked our stay, their reception team was always available to answer any questions we had. They let us know all the requirements needed in order to travel to St. Lucia (due to Covid). They arranged for us to be picked up at the airport, we were given welcome bags that included water bottles, sandals, hand sanitizer, a snack, and other things I can’t quite remember. When we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by Miss Caroline who provided us with welcome drinks and cold towels, then she proceeded to show us to our room. This is the part where I say that we cannot put into words; but it was the most beautiful setting/view we had ever seen! The pictures and videos on their site do not do it any justice whatsoever. The room was beautiful, amazing touches, spacious, and very romantic. We almost never wanted to step out of it. The service we received was top notch, amazing and kind staff, top quality food, anything you could want, it felt like they accommodated. Our stay at Ladera was an experience we will never forget and that we hope we can relive very soon!

Customer service : the customer service at Ladera was beyond anything we’ve ever experienced on a trip. The staff was beyond professional, friendly , and we were very impressed with the Covid-19 precautions. The moment we landed in St Lucia the hotel had provided us with masks from the resort at the airport . Everyone from the greeter whom greeted us when we arrived with a fresh beverage to the housekeeping and pool staff whom attended to are room everyday were beyond friendly and made my wife and I truly feel welcomed . Every day we were greeted to “good morning Mr. & Mrs so and so.... . Nlelbert always asked how are day was , if there was anything he could get us, and even found us the perfect drinks based on our taste . Nlelbert put us on to our nightly nightcap with a “ Silverbullet” ( baileys and Sambuca ) and always made us feel welcomed are cared how are experience was going.
Resort : we stayed in room “V” for our honeymoon and were blown away by the room. The open concept room overlooking the Pitons and having our own personal heated pool and nespresso machine was a great treat . Every morning we would see staff maintaining the property . Every night housekeeping would turn down your bed and leave you with a freshly baked treat .We were blown away by how well maintained the resort was and how much it had to offer. The resort had hiking trails, indoor/ outdoor gym , a boutique shop, wine room, spa , and koi fish ponds .
Food: the food was to die for at the resort . Every morning we had the fresh passion fruit juice with fresh pastries . Dinners at the Dasheene Restaurant always were cooked to perfection and the menu was ever changing from the beef tenderloin (tenderest I’ve ever tasted) to its freshest seafood the island had to offer.

I would definitely recommend this resort if you are looking for a relaxing few days. We stayed for 3 nights which was the perfect amount of time. The views from the rooms and the restaurant are stunning. And for anyone nervous about the open wall in each room, we didn’t experience any creepy crawlies, just a couple of tiny lizards which were really cute. The noise at night is quite intense but actually quite relaxing and waking up to the light hitting the Pitons is magnificent. The service provided is very friendly and the food and drink will satisfy even the most fussy of palates.
If you venture out of the resort, I would recommend the free shuttle bus to Sugar Beach. When you get there if you turn right there are free sun beds you can use and the locals are very friendly. You can buy delicious smoothies (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) from a helpful guy called Blaze and you have to try the snorkelling there, there are countless types of fish and some squid. Just don’t aim to snorkel at about 4pm as a catamaran arrives with tourists from other parts of the island-although it is quite funny to watch. Whilst at the beach, we took a sunset boat ride arranged by Dylan with his two brothers which was great value for money.
We also took the Soufriere experience trip arranged by the concierge at Ladera. You get to see the Botanical Gardens, bathe in the mineral waters and/or a waterfall, bathe in the mud baths and visit a drive-through volcano. I think this trip let’s you experience all the highlights of the island. Aim for a morning trip as it is much quieter.

My husband and I only stayed one night at Ladera on our honeymoon before leaving St. Lucia, but I'm glad we did! We opted for the one room that does have a 4th wall and AC, so we didn't do the full open-air room; we got upgraded when we arrived to the larger enclosed/AC suite (i'm guessing bc it was our honeymoon and due to covid, the resort is not even half full of visitors), so we were in the Villa Fleur which was HUGE and probably better suited for a family than for just the two of us. There's 2 levels, a full kitchen/dining/living area, 2 TVs, an outdoor waterfall wall, and a very large deck area/plunge pool (very scenic). I do kind of wish we'd been asked about the upgrade before it automatically happened though; the pool in this one they upgraded us to was not heated, and I had wanted a heated pool (which our originally booked room would've been)--which would've been especially nice when it was raining. I would've liked to have the option at least, and I probably would've opted for the one we'd booked (Petite Fleur). the AC definitely did not work great; had we been there for more than 1 night, I would've called the front desk about it. We had a couples massage out on the patio during sunset which was lovely. There were some thoughtful touches in the room like masks and earplugs (appropriate considering the location) and banana muffins. The staff was very polite. I wasn't super impressed by the food, but the views from the restaurant are incredible.

Hello! We also did not go for the all-inclusive plan, but we ate many meals at the on-site restaurant. Since breakfast is included in price of room, you are really only paying for lunch and dinner (and drinks). Paying for meals as we went, we never came close to the cost of the all-inclusive price for two.
I liked the flexibility of being able to go to other places to eat or skip a meal if desired. I think we ate about 5 meals off-site (Hotel Chocolat, Sugar Beach, and restaurants during other excursions). Hope this helps, and enjoy the wonderful Ladera!
