Nestled in a tranquil, picturesque setting, Bel Jou Hotel is lauded for its peaceful location with stunning views, although it's worth noting the area is somewhat remote. The hotel's vibrant entertainment, from live music to themed nights, contributes to an engaging atmosphere, even if certain spots could use a touch-up. Guests consistently commend the warm and attentive staff, alongside the hotel's spotless condition, from the well-kept grounds to the pristine pools. While the rooms earn praise for their cleanliness and spaciousness, some guests suggest a need for complimentary water and plushier amenities.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at Bel Jou! The hotel staff were fantastic—always helpful, cheerful, and welcoming, creating an enjoyable and relaxing environment. Some reviews noting getting towels were an issue, this was not our experience, there was always towel at the cabana bar or front desk. The rooms were clean and comfortable overall. While the beds were softer than I usually prefer, that's more a matter of personal preference. We stayed in an ocean-view room that offered lovely views of the ocean, hotel grounds, and pool. The food and drinks were good , with plenty of variety across three restaurants, three bars, and even a self-serve bar at the lower pool. Shout out to Princess, one of the hotel staff who also made fantastic specialty coffees upon request. They do charge extra for them ($4usd), but that was okay for us. A free shuttle service was available daily (except Wednesdays) to the Castries market or Vigie Beach. At the beach, there were chairs, drinks, and snacks set up exclusively for Bel Jou guests. Again these did cost extra ($2usd for beer/$1usd for chips). The staff at the beach was nice as they watch over your belongings. This allowed us to enjoy the ocean without worrying about our things. Christine was the staff member at the beach and she was an absolute gem! The beach itself was beautiful, with soft sand leading into calm, blue waters sheltered by the bay. Bel Jou also made excursions easy, with a variety of options and seamless transportation to and from the hotel. These could be booked either online or directly through the hotel. The only drawback to consider is that the surrounding area doesn't encourage exploring off-resort on your own, as it’s advised against for safety reasons. If walking around outside the resort is a priority, this may be something to keep in mind. Overall, our experience at Bel Jou and St. Lucia was amazing! I would highly recommend this hotel and destination for a relaxing and memorable vacation.

Small hotel that goes all out for a relaxing sunshine break. Staff very friendly and attentive and grounds perfectly kept. Rooms are spotless and views from top floor out to sea are beautiful, especially at sunset. Don’t book if you’re looking for non stop entertainment or a younger vibe. Also don’t bother if you have mobility issues- there’s a lot of stairs and it’s not wheelchair accessible. Food was pretty good, not a huge choice but what there was, was pretty good. Evening BBQ and steel band was great! Two pools but the lower level one was the nicest and quietest and the self serve bar a nice touch. Not a huge amount of bottled water around so probably best to bring a water bottle. Booked a good tour through the hotel- Bean to Bar Hotel Chocolat on a catamaran which included the mud baths, volcano, swimming by the Pitons and making your own chocolate bar with lunch. All day trip, good value and great way to see the island. Booked a taxi to take us to Pigeon Island and Rodney Bay - probably best way to see places and get around. Roads are dicey around here- lots of car horns due to sharp bend in the road close to the hotel. Not a good idea to walk the roads- take a taxi everywhere. Birds around the hotel are fantastic- a bit cheeky- close your doors as they will be in your room eating your sugar!

We stayed at the Bel Jou Hotel to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our sons and daughter in law joined us from the USA
Positives - very clean in all areas
Plenty of sun beds, never had a problem finding one at the top or bottom pools
Very friendly staff who are super helpful
Good selection of food, eggs cooked to order at breakfast
Free flowing drinks, self service bar at lower pool
Room 7 has a super king bed and large walk in shower
Arranged that we could allwatch the American Football in the roof top bar even though it was closed
Nightly entertainment some good acts
Gave my husband a cake on his birthday!
Negatives - Lots of stairs to lower pool which might be an issue if you have mobility issues
Limited vegetarian options, usually one main dish but lots of rice, potato and vegetable dishes every night
Our sons were in the main block with sea but they have small corner showers
Roof top bar was closed a few times for private parties, but main bar open….everything closes at 11pm
Special shout out to Princess,Bella, Vionce, Tasia, Nicole, Brendan and Jason on the front desk to name a few!
Top tips -
Take insect repellent, travel sickness pills if you get car sick as roads are dreadful, take free shuttle bus to beach ( hotel has sun beds there) you pay to use beach toilets. Drinks and snacks are available to buy there.

We stayed here over Christmas and enjoyed our time in St Lucia. The garden bungalow room was nice and comfortable and spacious. The verandah area with the restaurant and bar was beautiful with the views and had a nice vibe. The staff were great and very friendly, everyone said hello even when just passing by. The shuttle service worked well and reception were very helpful. The location is relaxing and peaceful however Rodney Bay Area is about 20 minutes taxi away which is more lively for the evenings however taxis in St Lucia to get anywhere cost a lot of money so worth baring in mind when booking. We ended up spending a fortune on taxis this trip. However we were told you can get a local bus to Rodney bay for $2 which we only found out at the end of the holiday sadly. The food was nice enough, breakfast being the best. The actual dishes of food were good just quite repetitive such as chicken stew, beef stew etc most nights and Christmas Day was slightly disappointing as we expected a bit more wow! The top pool area and lulus area needs a bit of love and refurbing, even just new sunbeds and furniture would make a big difference. The lower pool area was nice enough and relaxing with lovely views however new sunbeds that lie flat would make it much more luxurious. The grounds were kept nicely around the pool area. The entertainment was great, we really enjoyed that! There were also daily activities that sounded great such as yoga and Pilates. We slept well and there was no noise during the night apart from a few frogs and birds which is a nice noise in our opinion!
Randomly you had to pay for bottled water which I thought was odd, even just a bottle a day each in the room for free would have made a difference.
The staff try really hard here. In our opinion our main feedback to help improve the hotel would be a revamp around lulus and the upper pool and a revamp / more 4 star style food options on the food would have got a higher rating from us. Overall a good time though, thank you Bel Jou.

We spent 10 days at Bel Jou and found it very nice balance for an AI hotel, big enough to have space and a good range of amenities, but small enough to feel personal amongst staff and guests. Staff are friendly and helpful, some very upbeat and funny people amongst them like Sam and Princess.
We were in a garden bungalow rather than the newer blocks, situated in a row of about 12 behind Lulu's snack bar. They are slightly dated compared to the new rooms but still kept in good order. Good size room and bathroom with shower, large and comfortable bed and all the expected equipment. No real view from patio but did not bother us and actually quite private.
Dining options of the buffet restaurant and Hummingbird a la carte, as well as Lulu's snack bar and the serve yourself coffee shop gives a decent range of options and we could always find something to suit. On Thursday nights they shut the restaurants and Verandah bar to have a BBQ and entertainment around top pool area. Good intentions and lot of people enjoyed it but we didn't appreciate having our options entirely removed and didn't feel the food was to the usual standard.
The two pools spread the guests out, the lower one with its serve yourself bar seemed the most popular.
The shuttle bus to Castries centre and the small Vigies beach is really convenient, as it's a steep hill to the hotel and taxis are expensive. The hotel has sunbeds reserved there.
Jaffrie the lively entertainment host unfortunately went off sick during our stay and the range of activities rather dried up.
Castries town does not have a lot to offer so if you want to enjoy the lovely island you really need to take some of the excursions available, we did the Soufriere catamaran trip, the hotel trip to the really lively Gros Islet Friday street party, and clubbed with some other guests to do a minibus trip to Rodney Bay. Just try to pick days when there are minimum cruise ships in, as Castries town and some excursions will be busy. Saturdays in Castries town gets lively during the day as the streets round the market are full of extra stalls selling necessities for the locals.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Bel Jou, it has a lot going for it.

We just returned from an amazing & relaxing week in St.Lucia. We booked an Ocean View room and stayed on the 4th floor. The majority of staff are absolutely amazing, some of the nicest staff we have ever had. Every single time they see you they say hello & ask how your day was/is. And they were always willing to answer any questions.

The resort it self is very small and relaxing. We normally stay at bigger resorts where they have music around the pools, offer multiple restaurants, etc. This was our first time staying at a small resort, and we wanted the small resort vibe for this vacation to be able to relax. The rooms and facilities are very clean and are cleaned daily. I emailed them before arriving to see if it would be possible to arrange a bottle of sparkling wine in the room as a surprise for my husband for our anniversary. Not only did they provide the bottle free of charge they also added decorations to our room & the first night had us sit at a table with balloons and wished us a happy anniversary. The views from the hotel are absolutely breathtaking. The resort is not directly on a beach, but they provide a complimentary shuttle to Vigie Beach and it is only a short 5 min drive. Where they had free beach loungers and a staff member there. They also offered a shuttle to the Friday Night street party for $20usd / person which we did as well.

The food was good, although my husband can't eat red meat so he struggled to find stuff at dinner at the buffet. But they post the menus the morning of so you know what to expect at the buffet for lunch & dinner. We would always check this and if it seemed like there might not be much for him we would have a bigger lunch at Lulu's Cabana. They did an amazing job at switching up the menu for lunch and dinner at the buffet.
We did eat at the Hummingbird restaurant twice (they changed the menu half way through our stay), the first night we did not enjoy our food. But the second time it was much better. We never did get the chance to try their late night snack menu on their rooftop bar.

The resort had entertainment every night in the buffet area from 9pm-11pm. It was normally a live band. On Thursday night they had a fire show but due to weather it was a "light show" instead. Which they held at the buffet area as well. All the nightly entertainment was great!

Overall we had a great vacation at this resort and we knew what to expect when we booked it. It was exactly what we wanted for this vacation. Although, we did realize how much we value a beachfront resort & the option of multiple restaurants. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, small resort vibe for a vacation this is exactly the place.

We cannot express how perfect our holiday was at Bel Jou. We booked after reading some already great reviews, but were just blown away not only by the cleanliness and upkeep of the hotel, but how ALL of the hotel staff made us feel like family. The original reason for staying was to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday. The hotel helped us celebrate by organising a private dinner on the terrace (perfect).
The bus down to Vigie beach takes no more than 10mins and once there we always found it deserted, even the airport next door doesn’t really make an impact as most the the planes are small and intermittent.
We all stayed in 3 of the garden bungalows, which are located to the rear of the hotel and we found these to be in the perfect location as in the evenings it was quiet and of a day it was within easy reach of all the facilities.
The evenings were always fun and entertaining - we had a great time dancing, even with the staff (Princess has got some moves!).
The food was always of a fantastic standard, which Head Chef Alvin and his staff should be immensely proud of everything that they serve as it was always outstanding. We even asked if we could get the recipe for their homemade Oatmeal & Raisin Cookies (you can find them in the Coffee Shop/Library), when we got home we found an email with all the instruction on how to make them, now the Bel jou will always just be, one bake away!
All of the Bel Jou staff from Reception to Gardens are the most hardworking, friendliest and attentive people you will ever meet. There are too many to mention individually, but Stasia, Lita, Honor, Princess, Alvin and Pirate, you guys made our stay probably the best holiday we have ever experienced. THANK YOU ALL
We hope to see you again soon.

We arrived after a long flight to such a friendly warm welcome! Fruit punch served almost immediately on arrival. The staff at Bel Jou managed by the lovely Dean are all really wonderful and they ensure you have a superb and comfortable stay.
Excellent rooms, ours was ground floor with sliding doors in front of one of the pools. I found the bed really comfortable and I'm a fussy sleeper! The curtains were practically black out which is what I need. Good shower and all clean.
Being all inclusive was great, self serve bar next to pool and there was a good variety of food. Chefs cooked excellent poached eggs/ omelettes/ fried eggs/ scotch pancakes and French toast at breakfast. There was plenty of bacon, beans, tomatoes, fresh fruit, porridge and more available too, self serve.
Lunches were always tasty, rice dishes, potato dishes, lots of fish and chicken cooked in a variety of sauces. There were other meats but I don't tend to choose them. Lots of veggie dishes too.
You could also have burgers/wraps/pizza/chips etc at the fast food restaurant near the top pool.
At dinner we sometimes chose to go to The Hummingbird Restaurant which was A La Carte and very tasty indeed or we went to the usual Veranda Restaurant where you sit outside (it was perfect temperature for this all day and night long) and there was a lovely variety of food and yummy puddings on offer. My favourite was the pecan pie with ice cream.
Also loved the cocktails often made by Devon with a fabulous welcome and smile.
All staff were great, kind and friendly, I won't name them all because I'm bound to miss one out!!
We enjoyed going to the beach by the private hotel shuttle bus which went hourly, morning and afternoon. The sea was lovely and warm and sunbeds are there for Bel Jou guests. We also hired a car and took a trip to Sugar Beach (saw lots of colourful fish when snorkelling there), also Tet St Paul trail to see the Pitons and we went to Pigeon Island for the day. Lots of history there and also quiet beautiful little beaches.
Lastly we went to the Rainforest Adventure and enjoyed zip-lining and tram being surrounded by lush green rainforest! Indeed the whole island is beautifully green. We had occasional bursts of heavy rain that lasted 10 mins and then the blue skies and sunshine were back again!! Was quite a contrast coming home to leafless brown trees in England. If hiring a car, there are lots of pot holes and roads at the North of Island seem a little better. Was worth getting out and seeing this beautiful island though!

The hotel was lovely, and the staff were amazing! Two pools, both of which you could normally get a lounger by. The main buffet restaurant was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and had plenty of varied options for all. The fine dining restaurant was worth a visit once on the trip, but you needed to book a couple of days in advance. Then Lulus Cabana was also open during the day for snacks etc. Thursday night was Carribean night with a bbq and buffet outside by the pool with a great steel band performance. Entertainment was available every night, but usually quite chilled. The room had everything I needed, was clean and crisp and well air-coned, the only thing I would say (which wasn’t an issue for me on my own) but the shower was it the main room but you couldn’t turn the toilet light on without the light above the shower coming on so would wake another people sleeping in the room up.
The staff were more than happy to help with my every need, ordering taxis, booking spa treatments etc and cannot thank them enough!

We stayed at the Bel Jou for 7 nights to celebrate our Honeymoon and couldn’t have picked a better hotel. Forget a Sandles resort where you are just a number!

The Bel Jou staff offer a fantastic, family friendly environment surrounded by a small, but perfectly kept hotel where everything from the view over the Castries, to the swimming pools and restaurants are kept immaculately clean.

The free shuttle service to the beach is great and is only a 5 minute ride away where the hotel also provides free sun beds.

The Hummingbird a la carte restaurant is a must try and I found the food very good overall in the main buffet style restaurant.

Although all the stuff were great, a special shout out to Princess who has been working in the industry for 25 years and is really
Lovely.

The hotel also did a great job of managing the recent hurricane warning - thank you for keeping us safe!

No departure tax paid at the airport. It is very small and gets very crowded, certainly whilst we were waiting to depart. There are a few small shops and small duty free area.
