Let's face it, St. Bart's is and expensive place to stay. However there are options to make it a somewhat affordable holiday. The Tropical Hotel is a good choice. The inside garden is very nice, and a continental breakfast is included in the Superior rooms. The staff at reception Julie and Tanya are very nice, and accomodating so this makes...

Stayed here for a week after I won an scholarship (so I have no idea about the price). But it was very cozy and had an friendly atmosphere! Great location with a amazing beach and Eden rock just 50m away. It was also close to some small shops and the airport. 5 minute trip with car and then you were...

The Tropical Hotel in St. Jean is a fairly simple hotel in St. Jean. The room was comfortable, though the A/C in the main room never seemed to reach the bathroom, with a balcony facing the ocean... as well as the hotel's parking lot. The continental breakfast in the morning was pretty basic as well: coffee, juice, croissant and couple...

This is a hidden gem. Tucked up at the top of a steep hill , the Tropical is an old style West Indian hotel. Lots of "gingerbread" decorates the other railings, while the interior is simple and fun. The rooms are clean, have mosquito netting and Aircon. The breakfast of coffee and breads is traditional ( although the coffee is...

To be avoided! We were yelled at by the lady at the desk for daring to ask for a second bath towel. Nastiest receptionist ever. No Cleenex. No extra toilet paper. Bathroom flooded. Breakfast bread roll inedible. Cheapest sheets. Other hotels offer so much more for the same or less money. Would not stay there even if they offered their...

What a pleasure it is to a fine reasonable hotel after the overpriced English speaking Carribean. No fear of crime whatsoever as well. All rooms open onto a interior garden, beautifully maintained with lovely shrubs and trees. The Salon is fantastic for drinks or computer use during the day and evening. Room A/C is fine once the room is closed...

Stayed a week at this small and very well located hotel. The rooms are comfortable and clean and a very affordable price for the island. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Always a smile and a nice word. The garden is beautiful and everything is cosy. The only minus would be the bread for breakast but not an important detail. Overall...

My husband and I stayed at the Tropical last year and it was a fantastic find. Excellent location right behind the Eden Rock (you MUST go there for dinner - so good and romantic)! The garden in the middle of the rooms is really beautiful and peaceful - we absolutely loved everything about our room and the lovely people. Breakfast...

This was the cheapest hotel we could find when visiting St. Barth's. The staff were amazing to deal with -- rented us a car and got us a drop off service when we leave for no charge. The hotel is up a steep but short hill, so bring walking shoes if you don't rent a car. It's a fabulous view...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
OPENING DECEMBER 3rd 2016 A bohemian-style boutique hotel, the Tropical Hotel has been renovated for the 2016/2017 season. A charming hotel, located just steps from the beach in Saint Jean, the Tropical was recently purchased by a specialized hotel group from France. In Phase I, the new owners decided to update the design in a more contemporary style. As a result, The Tropical Hotel has been transformed into a bohemian chic hotel, in the style one finds in Mykonos, Ibiza, and Saint Barth, a mix between large luxury hotels and small family-run properties. The 22 rooms were recently redesigned from head-to-toe, with new "Rock the Kasbah" furnishings by Philippe XERRI. The decor has simple, clean lines, very natural, and showcasing such materials as wood, cotton, and linen. The design is both simple and sophisticated-a successful reflection of the image of Saint Barth. When it comes to service, the priority is on excellent and personalized service to meet all of the clients' needs. New this year is the addition of a luxury snack service open all day. The food service is by one of the hotel group's subsidiaries, MAMAN NYC, whose menus are created by Michelin-starred chef, Armand Arnal, with salads, tapas, homemade tarts, and cocktails served in a boho-chic ambiance, already popular in New York and Toronto. A wonderful addition to the hotel scene, the new Tropical Hotel is a great place to spend an unforgettable island vacation, while discovering the charms this newly renovated hotel. ... more   less
