Rent a car if you'll be going to town that much (we didn't pay that much so I don't know how much a taxi is). Also the close-in grocery stores are reasonably priced. You have to pay tolls so make sure your rental car is one of the good ones (we had Alamo - tolls $5 per day plus tolls). If there are just four of you then one car should be good (we had one car and it was free parking at the resort).
