Here’s a brief summary of our family’s stay at Comfort Inn, San Juan for five days in August 2022. The GOOD – Location: It’s a 5-7 minute walk to the beach and the hotel offers complimentary beach towels, sun umbrellas, and lounge chairs for your use. There’s also a Cartier store at the end of the block, so you’re in a decent part of town, and there are quite a few restaurants within walking distance; Rooms: Our room was clean and bright. It looks like it had been renovated in the not-too-distant past. Good water pressure, nice TV, clean linen, small fridge, microwave, and coffee maker; Breakfast: There are some nice options included in the breakfast. Hot items (cheese omelets, bacon, sausage, country potatoes), cereal, make-it-yourself waffles, pastries, fresh fruit (bananas, apples, clementine oranges), yogurt, and a variety of juices; Hotel pool: It’s small but very nice. In addition to the pool, there’s also a hot tub for the adults and a kids’ wading pool. Lots of lounge chairs and towels. Fitness center: It has nice equipment and is in good condition, located by the pool; Housekeeping staff: We interacted with several members of the housekeeping staff and they were all extremely helpful and friendly. High marks in that department! The BAD – Parking: Technically, there is a parking lot at the hotel but it only holds about eight cars, at best. Beyond that, you’ll need to park in a garage down the street for about $20/night. The hotel was in the process of repaving the parking lot while we were there but I don’t think it will result in adding any additional spaces; Flooding: The street on two sides of the hotel flooded to a depth of about 8 inches twice during the five days we were there. Not sure what causes it, but it’s apparently an ongoing issue. If you want to get past the flooding, you have to get creative on how to access the front door. Not impossible, but also not ideal. The DEHUMIDIFIER – The first night we were there, we woke up in the morning to find that the floor in our room was WET. Not damp, but WET. As in, a “Maybe we should go look for a mop” kind of wet. It was at that point that we noticed a dehumidifier under the desk in the room. The digital readout read, “Current humidity: 85%”. I don’t doubt it. Once I turned the dehumidifier on, we left it on for the remainder of our stay. It did help IMMENSELY but we had to empty the bucket in the dehumidifier down the shower drain about twice a day, so it was an ongoing process. We also noticed a dehumidifier in the hallway so humidity is apparently an issue there as well. SUMMARY – Overall, we were happy with our stay. The amenities are nice and the price isn’t bad, considering the prices of other hotels in the same vicinity. Parking isn’t ideal and neither is the flooding. And as long as you don’t mind keeping up with the dehumidifier, the room is pleasant to stay in. There aren’t a lot of bells and whistles, but there’s not a lot that seems lacking either.…
I gave this hotel review two stars, because of two things: 1. I needed a room at the last minute 2. The lady who checked me in after midnight, was very friendly. Everything else was not up to standards. Rooms are a little musty and not cleaned properly. Would give the room about 5/10. They do offer breakfast with their rooms, after making it to the door at 10:05am they would not let me in, and the front desk person demanded to me they are closed and I should have read the times when checking in. I said I understood, and that I checked in very late, and would just love a little water or juice. This became a back an forth, and he had no discretion or respect to how he spoke to me as guest. I could visibly see guests still sharing food or filling their cups with coffee. None the less I just checked out and waited for my ride. Would NOT recommend to anyone. Sad that this was my first experience staying at a hotel in San Juan.…
One of top terrible hotel experiences in my life. The room smelled mold and felt humid all the time, I could see stain of water on the walls. The shower had no water pressure. On the first morning I was woken up by the recepcionist calling me at 6am saying my ride was waiting outside, but I had not asked for any ride, it was the wrong room number, after that I could not fall asleep anymore. On the same day when I came back from the beach around noon I couldnt get into my room because the door was locked from the inside with the security lock, but that was not my fault, the housekeeper managed to do that when she closed the door, which was very heavy. I had to wait half an hour for someone to come and help me get into my own room. The housekeeper went in and left some clean towels but did nothing else, didnt even make my bed. After 2 nights I collected over 30 bed bugs bites on my arms, shoulders and legs. These are insects hidden in the matress that come out at night and eat you alive, looks like mosquito bites and it itches like hell, my skin looks horrible with so many bites, it will take over a month for the marks to disapear.…
We were in town same time as a music festival so the hotel was very busy. The breakfast was still in”grab and go” mode but they were hoping to change that soon based on covid numbers. Despite it being grab and go it was pretty good. We had one day pancakes and a small scrambled egg, a piece of fruit and your choice of juice, next day the same but French toasts. Rooms are decorated very confusing, modern gray and slate blue with 80’s style posters!? And furniture clearly from the 50’s cheap paint in flamingo pink? Very odd. Like lipstick on a pig? Great location for grabbing an Uber to old town, the airport or isla grand airport. Uber prices were double this year compared to last year!! Booo Uber. The breakfast gals were friendly but the real gem of this hotel is (so?) eddi. She greeted everyone with a smile and gave tour information etc…no question was a problem. She steered us to Nearby Jazz pizza! So good. Pool was closed when we were there but they said we could use the holiday inn pool next door. Great location at condado area a block off Ashford street and it’s San Juan so it’s pricey but things were good because of a great staff and details like that.…
I do not recommend ANYONE to stay at this MOTEL. It is not kept in clean conditions, it is dirty, smelly, the bathroom smells like sewage, they do not change the sheets each night, they do no provide towels for each day, the carpeting is dirty and sticky, and the feel of the room is simply dirty. The breakfast that should be warmly served is cold and stale. Simply this MOTEL disgusting!
Fantastic!!! Everyone is so friendly but Mrs. Edid "es un amor" she is so charming. Don't forget to take a selfie with LuLu... If any issues. Just call front desk Mrs Isamary will get the problem solved. The new owners are renovating the hotel
This a beautiful place to stay. Look in the reception for Jennifer. She will help you with everything a to make you staying a pleasant one. Thanks for have employees like her. The place are nice and clean. The pool is perfect.
July 4, 2020 we stock in the elevator for more than 30 minutes with 2 minors. No body hear the alarm and don’t answer the emergency phone. When the Front Desk lady answered she said no body know how to opened. They call the personal from the next door hotel. No apologies, no other compensation, just the refund. Bad experience.
Covi precautions were not fully met at reception area. Many people at the same time. Some without masks!!! Pool reservations disorganized too. Even though the time of each couple and/or group was over, they would leave them there more time and other persons would have to wait more time to go in the pool and lose there turn!!. Room was clean though and housekeeper nice. But Im concerned towards Covi virus propagation there.
Pros: Friendly staff. Accommodated our luggage storage post cruise, also arranged an early check in and late check out (we’re gold status). Location is the largest “pro.” Within two blocks of the ocean, beaches, restaurants, Condado Lagoon, ideal location in touristy area. Our room was clean and comfortable. Free breakfast was fine with eggs, omelets, bacon/sausage, breads, yogurt, cereal and fruit (what you’d expect at an economy hotel). Con: The hotel is under renovation and does need some TLC but they are trying. Don’t expect a 5-star experience for a budget friendly price. Also the pool area is very small and surrounded by buildings so sunlight is limited (but again you have a beach two blocks away).
