Hotel's Favourite
This hotel was really cute, very clean, and the staff were super friendly and attentive! It's close to the beach and a few cute cafes along the same road. If you wanted authentic food or a bar... that is just one block over. McDonalds and Walgreens was also walking distance. No real pool and there was a Cafe, bar and restaurant we never had a chance to experience because we never knew when it was open but that didn't really impact my opinion. It was also a 5-10 minute car ride to Old San Juan, TMobile district, La Placita, and other beaches and sites. Overall nice pleasant stay!

Very cute hotel, but unfortunately was placed in the room closest to the (very busy) street and it was extremely loud throughout the night. If you’re looking for a quiet place to stay overnight this isn’t the hotel for you. Aside from not being able to sleep it it was modern and seems to be well maintained.

This hotel was a gem. It appeared to have been revitalized from a couple of low-rise buildings in the neighborhood (hence it blends in well) and you can see they've exhausted every bit of care in every bit of detail. The decor fuses modernity and a strong local accent and the rooms were appointed with smart TV, ductless mini split AC (very quiet), and a decent-sized bathroom. We ran into a major island-wide power outage and the hotel's generator kept us going within seconds, even though other parts of Puerto Rico didn't have power for several days. You've got a fridge ensuite and additional amenities were available in the lobby - which was conveniently appointed with just everything a traveler might need - lounge, coffee, tea, microwave, business center, etc. It was a block away from the beach and the neighborhood was quiet and safe. I was surprised that this hotel exists in San Juan, with its value (well worth the price tag), its offering, its location, and the boutique operation. I would give this place 10/5 if I could. We were very happy about our stay here.

The hotel is very nice, and so close to the beach. The real standout is the staff though. Everyone was so great, and very accommodating. The restaurant on site Dulcesalado is amazing! Shout out to Jason and Alejandro at Dulcesalado for the excellent service! Will definitely come back!

Awesome hotel nearby the beach, staff was very accommodating. Beach chairs and beach towels were accessible at the front desk. Room was clean and nice. Valet parking for 20$ extra any hour of the day. Which was nice. Not to pricey for a nice room and very close by to all the local places to eat and get a drink.

The Good: Very nice staff Cute place, very nicely decorated in the common areas and the room we were in I requested an interior room and never had an issue with noise (Room 322) Full length mirror (very important but you would be surprised how many rooms I've been in that don't have one) Comfortable beds and nice sheets Smart TV that I could connect my phone too Netflix , etc available on TV The Bar at the adjoining restaurant had amazing cocktails and the staff was so nice. Beach towels on request Some really great restaurants/coffee shops in the area No phone but communication with hotel was all done via texts which was fine but make sure you share the number with any other people sharing your room so that they don't have to only depend on you to communicate- this was only an issue because while we were there there were water issues... The not so good but doesn't impact my rating: The water company that services the area shut down water to the hotel for 5 out of the 7 days I was there. I'm not clear on whether the hotel was aware that this was going to happen ahead of time but bc it impacted the whole area I can't fault the hotel. I will say though, that if they knew ahead of time, they should have notified people with reservations. I can't imagine that a water company could do something like this unless it was an emergency but it wasn't clearly communicated why this was happening, just that it was happening. The hotel had water tanks so, for the most part this didn't impact us, but there were a few times where it did. The not so good: One outlet between two double beds. I'm not sure how this was missed but you will likely have at least two, if not four people sleeping in two double beds so having only one outlet (there was a USB port in the lamp that was plugged into the outlet but it was only 1 USB port...so still same problem). Most people like to have their phones within reaching distance of them when they are in bed. I would recommend adding an outlet power strip to rooms that have a similar design. The lighting. This will only matter if you are a person who wants to put on makeup after the sun has gone down because natural lighting was great but once it was dark outside, the lighting in the bathroom and near the full length mirror was so bad. Bring some sort of lighting source if this matters to you. I think more hooks in the bathroom and room would be nice to have but I feel that way about most places..

The hotel is beautifully decorated, modern, clean, and the service is adequate. However, it is poorly designed and noise from the restaurant, outside, corridors and guest rooms is inescapable. There are no phones in the room and you're asked to contact the front desk by text message, to which the response is delayed. They didn't seem very concerned that the noise from the restaurant was so bothersome late in the evening (midnight). There is also no coffee in the room, and the pot in the lobby was empty. Also, in my opinion, specifically asking for gratuities for the housekeeping staff is offensive.

We stayed at The Tropica Beach hotel for 2 nights with 2 other couples before traveling on the The British Virgin Islands. It was pretty perfect. We loved the courtyard for hanging out and eating-the restaurant was wonderful and the staff A+! I have only 1 suggestion, get a better coffee situation lol. A regular coffee pot is not sufficient for a hotel. Maybe a large thermal carafe to hold many pots would be a good solution. A lovely little place!

This hotel is in an area that seems to straddle the line between urban and residential. Seems in the middle of a gentrification phase. If you have never been to PR or a similar place, it can take a bit to become adjusted. Embrace it though. The hotel itself is extraordinarily clean and the staff are extremely personable and helpful. Always helps to know some Spanish while in PR, but the staff have no issue at all if you don't. It's certainly what would qualify as a boutique hotel and it has definite tropic design flair. Don't expect it do be like a major brand hotel though. It's comfortable, safe, clean and an interesting space though. Located within the building is a restaurant with a couple of bars and a courtyard/patio. Food, drinks and staff there are also very, very good. Easily a top three restaurant within say a 10 mile radius. A very clean, lively beach is about a 5 min walk away. We were told not to walk the area at night by a couple of people but saw no issues at all while out at around 10 pm. If you want to get a little closer to the "real" PR flavor and away from a sterile resort option, this is a safe and excellent choice. Not a lot of night life options in the area it seems, but there is a great beach bar (Numero Uno) nearby that we walked to often, and better nightlife is only a 5-20 min uber ride away.

Very close to the beach, nice neighborhood, walking-distance restaurants/food places (we visited Double Cake bakery, yum), nice modern room, friendly and helpful staff, good security (locked front door, can open with room key, or front desk person unlocks with button from desk). My wife and I wanted to do a 1-hour couples' massage and the front desk person recommended a massage therapist that would come and do it at the hotel with a second massage therapist, so we did that. We liked the convenience, they did an excellent job, we felt like new people afterward, and the kink that had been in my neck for a long time was gone after. Comfortable bed, we didn't have noise from other guests at all. Would stay there again.
