Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Located in the heart of Condado so easy walk to any place here including the beach.
Breakfast is served from 6:30am-10:30am. Very generous time frame offering the standard Holiday Inn breakfast cuisine.
Outdoor pool and jacuzzi are small, but well maintained and cute.
Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly (especially Nichole and Jaedneé so sweet). We called a few weeks in advance with a few questions about things to do in the area and they were super helpful even before we checked in.
Rooms are very clean. Housekeeping staff does a wonderful job.
The beds are comfortable with a nice selection/variety of pillows.
Convenience store had a great variety of products including some really nice local products.
Future recommendations: Replace heavy bathroom “barn” doors with easier to move pocket doors.
Elevators are small.
The A/C units are very effective, but as in many Holiday Inns…a bit too noisy/loud.

I stayed at the hotel from 2/24 thru 3/7/20. Hotel front desk staff was the best! Very friendly and helpful with everything, including information on shops, restaurants, sites in the area, and any concerns I had regarding safety as I was alone. The staff was very attentive to any of my needs at the hotel. Breakfast was a continental breakfast and it was good. Housekeeping was very helpful and friendly. The only negative was that the hotel is under construction/renovation. Although the noise can be annoying, the smell emitting from my bathroom plumbing was not pleasant. Granted I would leave the room daily but upon my return it was still there. The housekeeping staff brought me an odor eliminating machine which really helped and made a big difference. Other than that, what can I say except I had a wonderful fun trip. The hotel is situated in a great area, close to everything and beautiful surroundings. Thank you Holiday Inn Express. Thumbs up!!

Absolutely loved this hotel! The staff is very helpful and friendly. They have alcohol wipes in the elevator and hand sanitizer everywhere so you can always keep your hands clean. The location is wonderful with quick access to the beach and lots of dining options. Highly recommend.

In shock here... How did this hotel get 5 out of 5 stars?! Facilities in general seem more like a shelter. You see hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes all around the hotel, but no COVID19 preventive measures are being carried out. No social distancing and guests come and go without face masks. There are two small elevators (like 4 persons capacity), but only one elevator is working. Hence, there is a line for the elevator within a very small lobby area. The front desk person was very friendly, but too slow. I don’t know if it was the computer system or what, but checking in took more than half an hour. Walking the hallways on guest room floors felt like being in a haunted house on a horror night. Upon arrival, I tried to modify my reservation but was told that only a manager was able to assist me with that, and that no manager was available until the next morning after 8am. Called Customer Care but same outcome. Allegedly, once you check in, customer service personnel is unable to make changes to your reservation. So, if you have an emergency and need to leave early the next morning, most likely you’ll experience some adversity checking out. The only pro is its location. Please, be smart and love yourself. Stay as far away from this hotel as possible.

Did a mother/daughter trip and stayed here. The hotel is nice, clean and a great location near beach area, shopping, and food. They called us a taxi when needed. The staff was very friendly. The rooms are slightly small, but we spent time visiting old San Juan and the tropical rain forest and this was a very convenient location for all our day trips. Very reasonable price

The rooms and hallways stink from a combination of mildew, cleaning products, and building supplies. It's absolutey unbearable - even for a night. And what makes it worse is that the windows are sealed so you can't get a breath of fresh air. People don't seem to mind, but if you have a sensitive nose or health issues, avoid this place. It used to be cleaner.

Hotel is operating like normal but room was defective in many areas so small we could barely walk they wanted me to allow maintenance to get in after me and kids check in to give indication I was traveling with male companion the hotel staff seems running other business besides vacation and travelers stops they seem worry and unsettling calling numbers and saying different explanations, very expensive even coffee you have to buy like in a hospital. The lobby furniture is dirty and laundry don't works propertly. The hotel staff seem not very attuned with hospitality business and every little thing is take in consideration even paper one print from business computer, no worth the price paid.

We only stayed here one night very late because our flight got delayed coming into the island and we were too tired to go to Isabela where our ultimate destination was. Trusting the Holiday Inn brand I called from the airport when we landed and I were given a really reasonable rate and very helpful attendant who picked up the phone. Other than this, great covid precautions, clean rooms fully ready for us, and very smart location in Condado.

First this hotel tried to charge us $200 per night more than the booking.com guaranteed rate. They said I had to deal with booking.com so I did and fortunately they worked it out. But there’s more. We understand that there’s a set checkin time but the desk guy said he’d be able to get us in early. (We got there at 11 AM.) So we waited around, went to the small gym, and sat in the extremely small lobby thinking we’d have our room at any moment. But no. They kept telling us “any moment”, and then the desk guy changed. New desk guy told me at 3:00 that he’d have to charge me a $50 early checkin fee if we got into the room before 4, that the room was ready but he couldn’t let us in without the charge. Could’ve gone to the beach if we’d known that rather than holding onto the hope that the room would be available early. Won’t be here again thank goodness.

I hadn't been to San Juan since the early to mid 90s. This hotel is located just off Ashford Ave. which is a busy street in San Juan and there is a Cartier store on the corner as a landmark since I didn't see a street sign. It's not a large hotel or building and there are probably about 18 rooms per floor in this seven story building. Christian checked me in and was nice. As an elite member with IHG, I expected an upgrade but at this hotel, there isn't an upgrade above the king room that I had reserved. The complimentary breakfast is good. The pool is small and was undergoing some type of concrete renovation during my trip so it wasn't available. The workout area is very small. The hotel's beach area is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the hotel and the easiest way to get there is to come out the hotel and walk to the right to the corner at Ashford then cross Ashford and walk right down Ashford past the La Concha Hotel to the Tryst Hotel (painted blue) on Calle Vendig and turn left on Calle Vendig. I didn't see a street sign with Calle Vendig but you can see the Tryst hotel painted in blue with a mural from Ashford. Go down the steps to the beach and the beach club is the first attended umbrella that you'll see. Unfortunately, there are no signs that say, Holiday Inn. Give the beach attendant your room # and they may ask to see your room key. They don't give out towels so get a towel from the hotel's Front Desk. On my 2nd day, another worker offered me water but I don't know if it's complimentary because I came with my own. Overall, I'd rate this hotel between Average and Very Good and would return. My tv reception wasn't great but I didn't report it and there was only one chair in the room which also seemed in need of repair. The room was small but came with a mini fridge, microwave, iron & ironing board and room safe. Unless, there are larger rooms, it would be pretty tight for two persons. I'd return to this hotel.

The benefits of parking with us at valet parking is your car will be received 24 hours. Other parking lots in the area close. Also, you have in and out privileges. That means that if you leave and return 5 times in one day, you can do it at no additional charge. You waste less time in walking and looking for an available space. The whole general area in Condado is congested, and parking is in high demand.
While you will see some people in the water at Ventana al Mar and many more at the various resort hotels nearby, these beaches are not guarded and you will see signs advising against rough currents offshore. The protected lagoon (as opposed to the open ocean) is safe for swimming, as is the area near Dos Hermanos Bridge where the main island connects to the small island where old San Juan is located. The lagoon is quite close to the hotel (probably a 5-minute walk), while the bridge is about a 15-minute walk or a short taxi ride.
There are more places to choose from in the San Juan area.
