We had a great stay overall! Specially with the service we received from Diana at the pool bar and the food we got from Victor Wood as our chef. He made us a special “sampler” that should definitely be added to the menu.

Hotel's Favourite
We've stayed here many times over the years, and it's truly an iconic property. But what really makes us return is the staff and the level of service they provide. A few standouts are Miguel the waiter in the lobby bar, Arlene, Ninoshka, and Justin at the pool and beach, Hector at valet, and Efraim the waiter at the breakfast restaurant. All of the staff is consistently excellent, but these people go over and above.

I was excited to stay right on the water in San Juan for the weekend. We checked in late and were disappointed that the bar closed at 11:30pm on Friday night. But perhaps that would be for the best! The room was somewhat dated and beat up: dents and scratches in doors, poor paint job, odd odors, generally dilapidated. The bed was clean and comfortable, however. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We had breakfast at one of the restaurants, Mojitos, which was not good. My wife ordered scrambled eggs and they actually served powdered/liquid eggs! We sent them back for real eggs. The Bloody Marys were good though. The pool and grounds is also in desperate need of repairs and updating. It’s like it hasn’t been cared for since 1995. I realize San Juan has endured some terrible storms recently but the deficiencies I have pointed out have little or nothing to do with damage. It seems Hilton has chosen not to invest in this property for whatever reason. It’s a shame because the location and “bones” of this place could be a real gem.

Happy to see this iconic hotel back to its glory after the aftermath of Maria and the double whammy of the pandemic. The hotel and facilities are great, however they overdo the constant salsa music. On the weekends during the evenings there is a small band at the bar playing the latin and salsa music so loud that it is overwhelming. It is loud to the point you can carry a conversation without shouting. It is great to see people dancing and enjoying themselves but the music volume spoils the atmosphere for the others. To make things worse in the morning you go to the Starbucks in the lobby for a coffee but there is not one area in the beautiful tropical and opened lobby to enjoy the coffee as there are speakers everywhere with constant vocal and rather loud salsa music. It would be better if they would play some softer instrumental mixture of Puerto Rican, Latin American and international music during the day, especially in the mornings. I am a native and love to dance salsa, merengue, bachata and more, but give us a break, there are other genres to enjoy. Moreover, I believe the guest from the mainland will not appreciate or enjoy loud latin and salsa music all day and night.

A major factor in choosing the Hilton Caribe for business/vacation stays is Zulma Sanabria’s yoga classes 6 days a week @9 on the beach. All levels, beginner to advanced are nurtured, challenged and supported in the 1 hour yoga classes, ocean-views, swaying palm trees above. Feel alive each morning with Zulma’s clear and personalised instructions, adjustments, variety of poses finishing with island-relaxation and soothing meditations. A must while staying here in San Juan - the Hilton Caribe have such an asset in Zulma’s talents as a Yoga Instructor.

More of a 4.5 out of 5 but I didn't have that option. The hotel was very pretty, great lobby ( mixed emotions about the caged birds but I don't know their story so---) , great bar, friendly service, good food options although way over priced and just ok, not amazing. Although the Puerto Rican restaurant on the property Mojitos had great drinks and the friendliest service. We preferred eating here over the other on property restaurants but still over priced. I suggest eating every meal off property. Now that we know there isnt anything special about the on property restaurants, thats what we'll do next time. Getting an Uber is very easy and you're a very short ride from a huge number of restaurants. I posted some Google reviews of our dining experiences but i'll post some here, too. The hotel location is great, right on the beach and 10 minutes from Old San Juan. We had a beautiful view of the beach, ocean and amenities from our room. Loved the little balcony. I think most, if not all rooms have a balcony. The elevators were very fast, we were in the 9th floor. This may not be a big deal but even though those days are over for me , i remember long waits at slow elevators with wet, tired little ones, not fun. The time of year we went was perfect (late August) after thr high season, so no huge crowds. We were able to enjoy the hammock "park" on the property and find chairs on the beach in a great spot. Speaking if the beach, if you're looking for waves you're not really going to get them. There's a man made rock border to prevent what looked like could be some pretty intense waves were in not for that barrier. The beach is kind of a calm bay but it's nice. A beautiful blue and watching the waves crash against the rocks is a great sight to see. Exploring Old San Juan was awesome. The beautiful colors, the architecture, the history, the narrow streets, it really takes you on a journey. Great shopping and besides the touristy t shirt places, there were plenty of great artisan shops. Old San Juan is still recovering from hurricane Maria (I know - it's crazy) so there are lots of streets undergoing road construction and some businesses that are shuttered but the construction doesn't get in the way and there are a shops and restaurants galore. The construction does mean sometimes you have to maneuver to avoid closed sidewalks and may be walking under scaffolds but sort of like any major city undergoing construction because of growth, not disaster. We visited two of Old San Juan's forts (look like castles) Castillo San Cristobal & Puerta de San Juan. You get two great walks through old San Juan to both of them. All uphill to Puerta de San Juan bur a good uphill, not so strenuous that you don't enjoy the actual walk. It was pretty hot so luckily, there were plenty of places to choose from if you want to stop and have a refreshment or lunch. It's pretty easy to get turned around on the narrow, intersecting streets but just keep your tourist map handy. The streets are prominent. We found the people to be very friendly, welcoming and hospitable. We got great tips on where to eat and shop. We had to see the rainforest while we were here and went to El Yunque. Our tour guide Tony was full of historical knowledge and fun facts. The rainforest was beautiful and well worth seeing. We used bug spray and I guess it worked. No bites. On our last day we went to the TMobile district. It was a big indoor/outdoor venue with lots of restaurants, an arcade, a concert venue and in thr middle they had giant games of Jenga, Connect Four, Corn Hole, etc. it was cool even though the venue advertised an opening if 12. Nor much was open when we arrived at 12:30, the arcade had a sign that said they opened at 1:00 but we were told 3 when we arrived. So we didn't get to do much there before we left but if timing had been more as advertised, I'm sure we would have enjoyed it. We loved PR and are looking forward to going back. It was a great way to be able to enjoy the Caribbean without needing our passports or having to go through customs (a pain at Hartsfield).

This is my third time staying at the Caribe Hilton and it remains a consistent, comfortable and pleasurable place to stay. The reason for my review is to recognize the service that was provided to me by Mildred Soler. Billing errors occur and it is often the employees on the front line who have to deal with the issues. I had a somewhat complex issue and Mildred was very professional and meticulous in figuring it out for me. She is a very composed and professional staff member and I hope that Hilton Caribe recognizes her excellent customer service skills! Thank you Mildred!

We decided to return to this property because of the great stay we had back in 8/2019. The facility had just been renovated after Hurricane Maria and had a great time. I must say this hotel is in a great location and most of the staff are very friendly and attentive, but due to Covid many of the near by Restaurants have closed since. Unfortunately the hotel rooms are in need of an updated renovation. There are several reasons why I did not give this review an Excellent rating. The number one issue is due to the lack of security or allowing the use of marijuana by guests around the pool/beach areas not to mention some of the guest leaving empty cups and cans all over the place, specially when this is a family resort. It is still illegal in PR to use recreational marijuana. We did not travel with a group of 15 and 1/2 of them being children to expect to pick and choose where to sit because another guest has no consideration or respect and light up next to small children. Unfortunately these are not hotel guests I will like to associate with while on vacation, and the quality of such has made me decide to possible stay at a different property on our next trip to the island. I will be contacting the Hilton directly regarding this. Second reason, although the rooms were clean, the rooms are in need of an upgrade. The room furniture are stained and worn, as are the rugs, and bathroom needs a complete remodeling. The Starbucks wait is way too long and over priced. You are better off going to the Ice Cream and Cookie Co instead. Had a good breakfast at Mojito Restaurant. The views on the balcony are great, the pools, semi private beach area and grounds are also great. Areas of interest; Kayaking at the Condado Lagoon across the street( saw a bunch of Manatees,) T-Mobile District is a must since El Mercado closed down next door, specially Sazon, Medalla Arena and the Arcade if you have children, La Cueva Del Mar in Guynabo, Mi Casita in Isla Verde for good authentic local food, El Hamburger for cheap hamburgers 10-15 minute walk towards Old San Juan, and off course Old San Juan. if you do not have a car Uber is the way to go. This Landmark Hotel can be an excellent destination but it looks like they are catering to the wrong crowd and its a shame.
